Provided is an intraocular lens having at least one optical part and having a haptic coupled to the optical part, and having an optical principal axis that passes through a front side and a back side of the optical part, the haptic comprising at least one haptic loop, wherein a coupling element of the intraocular lens is integrated on the haptic loop and a mating coupling element of the intraocular lens is integrated on the optical part or on a connector coupled to the optical part, the coupling element being formed for direct coupling to the mating coupling element and, in the coupled state of coupling element and mating coupling element, an outer edge segment of the haptic loop being arranged at a radially shorter distance from the optical part than in the case of the uncoupled state of coupling element and mating coupling element.
Accommodating intraocular lens device
An accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) can be implanted either alone or as part of a two-part lens assembly. The IOL comprises an optic, a flexible membrane and a peripheral edge coupling the optic and the flexible membrane. The peripheral edge comprises an external circumferential surface having a height and a force transmitting area defined along a portion of the height of the external circumferential surface. A closed volume spaces apart the optic and the flexible membrane. The optic is axially displaced and the flexible membrane changes in curvature about a central axis when a radial compressive force is applied to the force transmitting area. A volume defined by the closed volume remains fixed when the optic is axially displaced and the flexible membrane changes in curvature and/or when the radial compressive force is applied to the force transmitting area.
Intraocular lens and methods and/or components associated therewith
An intraocular lens (IOL) has a clear optic and means for actuating change in curvature in at least a portion the clear optic. The intraocular lens (IOL) can have anterior and posterior portions spaced apart by a cavity, and an actuator for urging change in curvature in at least one of said portions, with energy provided by an energy harvesting mechanism incorporated into haptics of said IOL.
INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS
An intraocular device that includes a bas member is provided. The device can be an accommodation intraocular lens device with the base member and a power changing lens. The base member comprises an annular haptic that surrounds a central cavity having an open end. The power changing lens is configured to fit within the central cavity. The haptic comprises one or more projections, e.g., tabs that hold another device in position. In the case of the accommodating intraocular lens device, the other device is the power changing lens. The base member and the power changing lens are maintained separate until assembly in the eye of the patient. During assembly, the base member is advanced into the capsular bag of a patient through a capsulorhexis and oriented such that the open end of the central cavity faces the cornea. Subsequently, the power changing lens is advanced into the central cavity through the capsulorhexis. The one or more tabs are placed anterior of the power changing lens to secure the power changing lens within the cavity.
PROSTHETIC CAPSULAR DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A prosthetic capsular device configured to be inserted in a natural capsular bag of an eye after removal of a lens includes a housing structure capable of containing an intraocular device. The housing structure includes a posterior side, an anterior side opposite the posterior side, lateral sides extending between the posterior side and the anterior side, and a cavity at least partially defined by the posterior side, the anterior side, and the lateral sides. The posterior side includes a refractive surface and an opening radially outward of the refractive surface. The anterior side includes an aperture capable of allowing at least one of insertion, removal, and replacement of an intraocular device. The cavity is capable of containing an intraocular device.
CAPSULAR PROSTHESIS FOR POSTERIOR CHAMBER INTRAOCULAR LENS (IOL) FIXATION
An intraocular lens (IOL) prosthesis is implanted through one or more corneal incisions made within a predetermined surgical axis defining a plane that intersects the optical axis as well as the visual axis of the human eye. At least two looped sutures are fed through suture apertures and sutured to the sclera of the eye by which a center aperture of the prosthesis is suspended in the plane within the posterior chamber of the eye and centered on either the optical or visual axis. The prosthesis is made of a thin sheet of flexibly resilient material (e.g. silicone, polyimide, acrylic, polypropylene), and can be rectangular, triangular or of any suitable geometric shape. The center aperture has dimensions that facilitates optic capture or reverse optic capture of commercially available IOLs and includes vertex features for resisting movement of the haptics of the captured IOLs once captured therein.
INTRAOCULAR IMPLANT WITH REMOVABLE OPTIC
Intraocular implants and methods of forming intraocular implants are described herein. The intraocular implant can include a powered optic and a lens holder. The optic can be mechanically coupled to an inner periphery of the lens holder to form the intraocular implant. A portion of the lens holder can include a mask disposed about the optic to increase depth of focus in a human patient.
Fluid-filled haptic for an intraocular lens
An IOL utilizes a haptic formed as a toroid portion configured to fit into a capsular bag of an aphakic eye of a patient. The toroid portion may be separate from an IOL optic and may include a receiving feature for the IOL optic. The toroid portion may be configured for intraoperative fluid-filling for snug fitting at the equator of the capsular bag, in order to immobilize the IOL optic.
INTRAOCULAR PSEUDOPHAKIC CONTACT LENS WITH MECHANISM FOR SECURING BY ANTERIOR LEAFLET OF CAPSULAR WALL AND RELATED SYSTEM AND METHOD
An apparatus includes an intraocular pseudophakic contact lens. The intraocular pseudophakic contact lens includes an optical lens configured to at least partially correct a residual refractive error in an eye. The residual refractive error includes a refractive error that exists in the eye after implantation of an artificial intraocular lens in the eye. The intraocular pseudophakic contact lens also includes one or more haptics configured to be inserted under an anterior leaflet of a capsular wall in the eye in order to capture and confine the one or more haptics under the anterior leaflet and secure the intraocular pseudophakic contact lens against the artificial intraocular lens.
MULTICOMPONENT INTRAOCULAR LENS
A multicomponent intraocular lens implantable in an optical system of a human eye, comprising: a base component and a front component, the front component comprising an attachment tab which extends from a circumferential side of the optical portion of the front component and engages the flange for attaching the front component to the base component, wherein the attachment tab of the front component comprises a resilient projection that protrudes away from the optical portion beyond the flange, wherein a portion of the resilient projection is located at a non-overlapping position with respect to the haptic of the base component in a circumferential direction around the optical portions, wherein the portion of the resilient projection has a back surface which is located backwards from a front surface of the haptic of the base component in the thickness direction of the base component.
