Suturing device for minimally invasive surgery and needles and methods thereof
A suturing device for minimally invasive surgery is disclosed. The suturing device has a head defining one or more ferrule holders and a tissue bite area. The device also has a first needle comprising a flywheel portion and one or more curved arms extending from the flywheel portion, each of the one or more curved arms comprising a ferrule engaging tip, wherein the first needle is pivotably coupled to the head. The suturing device further has a first actuator coupled to the first needle and configured to rotate it from a retracted position, where the ferrule engaging tip of each of the one or more curved arms starts away from the one or more ferrule holders, through the tissue bite area, and to an engaged position where the ferrule engaging tip of each of the one or more curved arms is operationally aligned with the one or more ferrule holders.
INTRACARDIAC DEVICE TO CORRECT MITRAL REGURGITATION
A device structured to suppress mitral regurgitation by restricting prolapse of a mitral valve leaflet and including a base correspondingly dimensioned to the mitral valve and including a central portion, structured to allow blood flow there through and a peripheral portion or ring connected to the central portion in substantially surrounding relation thereto. An operative position of the base includes the central portion disposed in overlying, movement restricting relation to at least one of the valve leaflets and the ring concurrently anchored adjacent or directly to the native annulus of the mitral valve. The physical characteristics of the base facilitate its movement with and conformance to the mitral valve during diastole and systole cycles of the heart.
ANNULOPLASTY SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An exemplary method of performing an annuloplasty procedure includes introducing a catheter into a left atrium of a heart, deploying a first member from the catheter, anchoring the first member to a posterior side of a mitral valve annulus in the left atrium, deploying a second member from the catheter, anchoring the second member to an anterior side of the mitral valve annulus in the left atrium, deploying a flexible tensile member from the catheter, attaching the tensile member to both the first member and the second member and applying tension to the tensile member to draw the first member and the second member toward one another and bring the posterior side and the anterior side of the mitral valve annulus into closer approximation. Annuloplasty systems and components are also disclosed.
Cardiac Valve Downsizing Device And Method
A device for repairing a heart valve includes a medical device. The medical device comprises an element in order to downsize the annulus upon insertion and allow the leaflets to open and close properly. The medical device provides a temporary or permanent downsizing of the heart valve. An annuloplasty implant and/or heart valve prosthesis is releasably attached to the medical device for insertion to the annulus and permanent fixation of the latter in a desired shape.
Heart valve sizing ring and method
A device for measuring heart valve for sizing a heart valve reinforcement ring, includes a first handle having a first shaft an outer ring coupled to the first shaft, wherein the outer ring has an inner surface; and an inner ring having an outer surface, wherein the inner ring is removably couplable to the outer ring. The inner surface of the outer ring and the outer surface of the inner ring further have reciprocal mating surfaces configured and arranged to grip sutures therebetween when coupled together. The device may further have a second handle with a second shaft connected to the inner ring. Alternatively, the first handle may have a second shaft that is connected to a second outer ring.
MINIMALLY-INVASIVE LOW STRAIN ANNULOPLASTY RING
A minimally-invasive annuloplasty ring for implant at a mitral annulus. The annuloplasty ring has an inner core member with a C-shaped plan view that generally defines an oval with a major axis and a minor axis, and is symmetric about the minor axis. A posterior portion of the core member bisected by the minor axis has a thicker radial dimension than a pair of free end regions terminating on an anterior side of the core member. The radial thickness smoothly transitions between the posterior portion and the end regions. The inner core member may be covered with a fabric, and is a superelastic metal so that it can be straightened out and delivered through an access tube. The curvatures and thicknesses around the core member are selected so that the strain experienced when straightened does not exceed 7-8%.
Delivery device for prosthetic mitral valve annuloplasty ring and prosthetic mitral valve annuloplasty ring delivery system
A prosthetic mitral annuloplasty ring includes a wire, an adjustment member for changing a length of the wire and a jacketing annulus for adjusting a radial dimension of the mitral valve annuloplasty ring. The jacketing annulus is sleeved over the wire and forms, together with the adjustment member, a shape matching that of a native mitral valve annulus. After the prosthetic mitral annuloplasty ring is implanted by suturing in a conventional surgical procedure and the patient's heart starts to beat again, the adjustment member can be connected to the delivery device and the wire length therein can be adjusted by a rotating operation of the delivery device so that the mitral valve annuloplasty ring will be expanded or contracted until the prosthetic mitral annuloplasty ring perfectly fits the native mitral valve annulus in shape, effectively avoiding the problem of incomplete mitral leaflet coaptation.
Annuloplasty Ring Sizer
A ring sizer including a face plate that has markings usable to provide measurements of a valve. The sizer may include a clear face plate on which the markings are provided such that the valve is visible through the face plate facilitating accurate measurements of various valve dimensions and optimal ring sizing.
Heart valve sealing devices and delivery devices therefor
An exemplary valve repair device for repairing a native valve of a patient includes: a strip of material having first and second edges surrounding a central portion; a coaption element formed from the strip of material; and a pair of paddles formed from the strip of material and connected to the coaption element. The paddles are movable between an open position and a closed position and are configured to attach to the native valve of the patient.
Heart valve sealing devices and delivery devices therefor
An exemplary valve repair device for repairing a native valve of a patient includes: a collar; a coaption element attached to the collar; and a pair of paddles are connected to the coaption element. The collar has a plurality of engagement portions configured to releasably engage a delivery apparatus. The paddles are movable between an open position and a closed position and are configured to attach to the native valve of the patient. The paddles are circumferentially disposed between the engagement portions.
