MECHANICALLY LOCKING ADJUSTABLE CARDIAC TETHER
20200268514 · 2020-08-27 ·

A method of modifying a shape of a patient's heart by placing a first anchor against a surface of a first wall of the heart; extending a tether proximally from the first anchor to a second wall of the heart; placing a second anchor against a surface of the second wall; rotating a nut about the tether to move the second anchor distally along the tether, thereby moving the second wall toward the first wall; and permitting the nut to remain in place after the rotating step. The invention also includes a device for practicing the method.

System and method for reshaping right heart

The present teachings provide devices and methods of reshaping the right heart and reducing tricuspid valve regurgitation. Specifically, one aspect of the present teachings provides an inflatable device to be deployed in the space between the sternum and the right heart. An injectable medium is injected to the cavity of the device. Once the device is filled, the device is detached from the delivery system, and released inside the body. The inflated device exerts pressure to the right heart, changes the shape of the tricuspid annulus, and allows a better coaptation of the tricuspid leaflets.

MINNIMALLY INVASIVE DEVICE FOR TREATING CHRONIC HEART FAILURE
20200229927 · 2020-07-23 · ·

A device for treating chronic heart failure made of a construct composed of cardiac tissue and a frame supporting the construct. The frame has a plurality of elongated members and the cardiac tissue is attached to the elongated members. The elongated members extend outwardly from a converging region and diverge to provide a distal opening and a space proximal of the distal opening between the elongated members, the space dimensioned to fit over a heart of the patient to treat chronic heart failure.

LOCATION, TIME, AND/OR PRESSURE DETERMINING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR DEPLOYMENT OF LESION-EXCLUDING HEART IMPLANTS FOR TREATMENT OF CARDIAC HEART FAILURE AND OTHER DISEASE STATES

Devices, systems, and methods for treating a heart of a patient may make use of structures which limit a size of a chamber of the heart, such as by deploying one or more tensile member to bring a wall of the heart and a septum of the heart into contact. A plurality of tension members may help exclude scar tissue and provide a more effective remaining ventricle chamber. The implant may be deployed during beating of the heart, often in a minimally invasive or less-invasive manner. Trauma to the tissues of the heart may be inhibited by selectively approximating tissues while a pressure within the heart is temporarily reduced. Three-dimensional implant locating devices and systems facilitate beneficial heart chamber volumetric shape remodeling.

Treatment method and medical device

There is provided a treatment method that is capable of reducing burden on a patient when a medical sheet is indwelled in the body of the patient. A treatment method includes an introduction of introducing a catheter, which has stored a medical sheet (e.g., a myocardial cell sheet), to a heart inside a living body, and an indwelling step of drawing the myocardial cell sheet from the catheter and indwelling the myocardial cell sheet in the heart.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR VENTRICULAR RESHAPING AND HEART VALVE RESHAPING

Systems, apparatuses, and methods disclosed herein are provided for medical treatment, including transcatheter medical treatments and/or for treatment of dilated hearts (e.g., dilated left ventricle) or functional mitral valve regurgitation within a human heart. The systems, apparatuses, and methods disclosed herein may include applying one or more heart splints to the patient's heart to apply pressure to the heart to reshape the heart. Anchors disclosed herein may be utilized in plugs for treating openings in a septum between two chambers of a heart, e.g., ventricular septal defects (VSD), atrial septal defects (ASD), and patent foramen ovale (PFO). In addition, the anchors disclosed herein may be utilized to reshape an annulus of a patient's heart valve, including a tricuspid valve of a patient's heart. The anchors disclosed herein may also be utilized to reposition a heart valve leaflet to reduce heart valve leaflet prolapse.

SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND METHODS FOR ACCOMMODATING VENTRICULAR EXPANSION

Systems, apparatuses, and methods disclosed herein are provided for medical treatment, including treatment of dilated hearts (e.g., dilated left ventricle) or functional mitral valve regurgitation within a human heart. In examples, transcatheter medical treatments may be utilized. The portion of the patient's heart may be dilated due to a myocardial infarction or other cardiomyopathy. The treatment may comprise beating-heart repair of left ventricles with ischemic or non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. The treatments may include approximating papillary muscles of the heart and accommodating ventricular expansion of the heart.

Minimally Invasive Heart Pump with Modular Adjustable Construct Insertion
20240099846 · 2024-03-28 ·

A system and method for the installation and operation of a cardiac assist device. Flexible guides are advanced into a prepared space using minimally invasive techniques. A heart pump construct is advanced into position in the pericardial area along the flexible guides. Once in position, the heart pump construct is activated while still engaged with the flexible guides. The flexible guides provide structural integrity to the heart pump construct needed in order for the heart pump construct to function properly. The forces supplied to the heart by the heart pump construct are affected by the presence of the flexible guides. The structure of the flexible guides, the position of the flexible guides and the structure of the heart pump construct are customized to supply the forces needed by a particular heart in order to assist the heart in pumping more efficiently.

CARDIAC TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD

Devices and methods for providing localized pressure to a region of a patient's heart to improve heart functioning, including: (a) a jacket made of a flexible biocompatible material, the jacket having an open top end that is received around the heart and a bottom portion that is received around the apex of the heart; and (b) at least one inflatable bladder disposed on an interior surface of the jacket, the inflatable bladder having an inelastic outer surface positioned adjacent to the jacket and an elastic inner surface such that inflation of the bladder causes the bladder to deform substantially inwardly to exert localized pressure against a region of the heart.
