Orthopaedic Implants Having Self-Lubricated Articulating Surfaces Designed to Reduce Wear, Corrosion, and Ion Leaching
An orthopaedic implant can replace a joint in a patient. The orthopaedic implant includes a first component having a first component surface and a second component having a second component surface. The first component surface and the second component surface mate at an interface. The first component surface includes a metal substrate, a nanotextured surface, a ceramic coating, and a transition zone. The nanotextured surface is disposed directly upon the metal substrate and has surface features in a size of 10.sup.−9 meters. The ceramic coating conforms to the nanotextured surface and includes a plurality of bio-active sites configured to attract and retain calcium and phosphorous cations. The transition zone is disposed between the metal substrate and the ceramic coating. The transition zone includes a concentration gradient transitioning from the metal substrate to the ceramic coating and there is no distinct interface between the metal substrate and the ceramic coating.
GUIDES FOR FRACTURE SYSTEM
A prosthetic shoulder implant system includes a prosthetic humeral implant and a version device. The humeral implant includes a catch member aperture and a first locking pin aperture. The version device includes a rotatable member with a body and a flexure member, and a plate with a catch member and a projection contacting the flexure member. A first locking pin extends from the version device and is adapted to mate with the first locking pin aperture. In an unlocked condition of the system, the rotatable member has a first rotated position in which the flexure member is in an uncompressed state and the plate is in a first position, and in a locked condition of the system, the rotatable member has a second rotated position in which the flexure member is in a compressed state and the plate is in a second position proximal of the first position.
WRIST ENDOPROSTHESIS
A wrist endoprosthesis (2) for functional replacement of the human wrist, containing a radius component (4) that has a shaft (10) for anchoring in the radius, a head (12), and a first joint surface (16), which is implemented on a distal head face (14), and a carpal component (6) that has a proximal carpal face (22), a distal carpal face (20) and a second joint surface (24) which is formed on the proximal carpal face (22) and interacts with the first joint surface (169) of the radius component (4), characterized in that the carpal component (6) is substantially trough-shaped, in order to at least partially surround the carpal bones. Artificial discs
A four-component artificial intervertebral disc may provide six degrees of movement: flexion, extension, lateral bending, axial rotation, axial deflection, and anterior/posterior translation. The disc may include a superior endplate, a superior core, an inferior core, and an inferior endplate. The superior endplate may include a concave mating surface, and the inferior endplate may include a spherical mating surface. The superior endplate may roll across the superior core to provide flexion, extension, and lateral bending. The superior endplate may twist or rotate atop the superior core to provide axial rotation, and the superior endplate may slide over the superior core to provide anterior/posterior translation. The superior core may be connected to the inferior core, and the inferior core may be connected to the inferior endplate. The inferior core may be made from a flexible material that may enable the artificial disc to expand or compress vertically.
Artificial disc replacement device
An artificial disc replacement device is disclosed. The device includes an upper endplate and a lower endplate, as well as a core assembly disposed between the endplates. The core assembly includes a core member with a curved engaging surface and a matrix member. The matrix member is more compressible than the core member. The curved engaging surface of the core member engages a recess in the upper endplate so that the upper endplate can translate along the curved engaging surface. The curved engaging surface has a greater curvature at its posterior end than at its anterior end to facilitate different ranges of motion during extension and flexion.
ELBOW ARTHROPLASTY APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
The present disclosure generally relates to an elbow arthoplasty prosthesis that includes an ulnar component, a humeral component, one or more articulation liners, and a retention trap. The ulnar component includes a spherical bearing head that can be inserted into the humeral component in a number of orientations. The articulation liners and the retention trap are operatively engaged to the humeral component to retain the ulnar component within a humeral socket. The present disclosure also relates to methods of assembling and implanting the prosthetic device.

Impact instrument for joining prosthetic implants, comprising a housing which accommodates a striker pin, a first spring element associated with the striker pin, a release device and, at least in part, a striking piece, wherein the striking piece projects from the housing at an end face, wherein the release device is movable between a fixing position and a release position, wherein the striker pin is spaced apart from the striking piece the fixing position, wherein the release device moves automatically from the fixing position to the release position when the striking piece moves axially into the housing, in order to release the striker pin once the release position has been reached, so that the latter moves in the direction of the striking piece, accelerated by the first spring element.

SPINAL DISTRACTION SYSTEM
A spinal distraction system, according to one aspect, includes an adjustable spinal distraction rod comprising first and second members, the adjustable spinal distraction rod configured for non-invasive elongation of the first and second members. The system includes an anchor rod configured for mounting to a bone of a subject, the anchor rod having one or more spring-biased tabs disposed at one end thereof, and a connector having first end and a second end, the first end having a receiving cup configured for detachable mounting on the anchor rod, wherein the one or more spring-biased tabs are configured to engage with an inner surface of the receiving cup, the connector having a second end operatively coupled to an end of a first member and wherein the second member is configured for mounting to a second bone of a subject.

Methods and devices are disclosed for treating the vertebral column. An implant for treating the spine is provided comprising at least two articulations between the spacer and the bone facing surface of the fixation plate. Another implant for treating the spine is also provided, comprising two or more fixation plates attached to a spacer with two or more articulations, wherein the fixation plates are independently movable.
