TRIAL FEMORAL HEAD PROSTHESIS
20200000597 · 2020-01-02 ·

A trial femoral head for use in a trial fitting of a hip prosthesis, the head having an outer surface and a plurality of cavities configured to mate with a male connection member of a femoral stem component, each cavity having an opening located in the outer surface of the head, each opening being of a different size such that when the male connection member of the femoral stem component is mated with a first cavity it is received at a first depth, and when it is mated with a second cavity it is received at a second depth.

Multi-walled placeholder

A placeholder for vertebrae or vertebral discs includes a tubular body, which along its jacket surface has a plurality of breakthroughs or openings for over-growth with adjacent tissue. The placeholder includes at least a second tubular body provided with a plurality of breakthroughs and openings at least partially inside the first tubular body. The first and second tubular bodies can have different cross-sectional shapes, can be are arranged inside one another by press fit or force fit or can be connected to each other via connecting pins and arranged side by side to one another in the first body.

Sensor-based shoulder system and method

The subject matter includes a system and method for providing graphical feedback visualizing forces within a joint through a range of motion of the joint. The method can comprise receiving position data, receiving force data, and generating a graphical representation based on the position data and the force data. The receiving position data can include data for at least one bone of a joint while the at least one bone is moved through a range of motion (ROM). The receiving force data can occur concurrently to receiving the position data and using one or more processors, the force data can be collected from at least one force sensor embedded within a trial prosthesis in the joint. The graphical representation can illustrate changes in the force data versus locations of the bone as it moved through the ROM.

SYSTEM FOR PREPARING A PATIENT'S FEMUR IN AN ORTHOPAEDIC JOINT REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

An orthopaedic joint replacement system is shown and described. The system includes a number of prosthetic components configured to be implanted into a patient's knee. The system also includes a number of surgical instruments configured for use in preparing the bones of the patient's knee to receive the implants. A method or technique for using the surgical instruments to prepare the bones is also disclosed.

SPINAL FUSION CAGE SYSTEM WITH INSERTER

A bone graft delivery system and method for using same to deliver graft material into a surgical site. The system includes an interbody implant having a securing site disposed on a surface of the implant and a holder having an elongated, hollow handle including a distal end. The distal end of the holder is configured to removably engage the securing site of the interbody implant to secure the interbody implant to the distal end of the holder until such time as a user desires to disengage the holder from the interbody implant. The interbody implant may be a cage implant having opposing anterior and posterior surfaces, opposing first and second lateral surfaces, and opposing top and bottom surfaces, wherein the top surface comprises a first aperture and the bottom surface comprises a second aperture, the posterior surface comprising a third aperture, the first, second, and third apertures all linking to a main cavity, the main cavity generally extending between the top surface and the bottom surface.

A device implantable in a human body comprising a first component, or main support component, delimiting a plurality of openings, and a second component disposed on a surface of the main support component.

Active substance applicator for a joint implant, and joint implant having an active substance applicator

The present invention provides an active substance application insert (10, 110) for an implant (30), in particular a joint implant. The active substance application insert has a main body (11), an active substance chamber (12) formed in the main body, an application side (13, 113) which forms a front face of the active substance chamber, wherein the application side has a plurality of application openings (14, 114), and a securing means (15) with which the main body can be detachably secured in the implant. In a state in which the main body is inserted into the implant, the application side faces outwards relative to the implant, such that the application openings connect the active substance chamber to the environment of the implant. Furthermore, within the scope of the present invention an implant (30) with a recess (31) for receiving an active substance application insert (10, 110) is provided.

Acetabular spacer device comprising a pharmaceutical substance

An acetabular spacer device, of a type that is temporary and disposable, adapted to be implanted in use in a bone cavity placed at a joint of the human body, such as a hip or shoulder joint, has a cup-like shape, substantially hemispherical, and includes a first convex surface, adapted to be positioned at the bone cavity, a second concave surface, which defines a cavity, further includes at least one pharmaceutical or medical substance, such as at least one antibiotic, adapted to treat during use an ongoing infection in the bone cavity.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USING ELASTOMERIC MATERIALS IN SURGICAL APPLICATIONS

A method of preparing an implantable spacer device utilizing an elastomeric material containing antibiotic(s), radiation-emitting seeds, and/or other bio-active substance to treat diseased, infected and/or injured bony structures, soft tissue, or neural structures.
