Lateralized dual-mobility assembly

A modular acetabular cup assembly includes an acetabular cup, and a liner seated in the cup. The cup includes an end face, an apex opposite the end face, and a central axis extending between the apex and a center point of the end face. The liner includes an articular surface having a center of rotation which defines a pivot point of the acetabular cup assembly. In certain embodiments, the pivot point is laterally offset from the center point such that the end face is located between the pivot point and the apex.

Bone grafting and compaction

A tool for delivery and/or compaction of bone graft material includes a cannula with an inner lumen extending along a longitudinal axis from a hopper end of the cannula to a delivery tip of the cannula. A hopper with an internal volume for storing bone graft material is connected to the hopper end of the cannula with the internal volume of the hopper in communication with the inner lumen of the cannula for delivery of bone graft material from the hopper to the delivery tip of the cannula. An output shaft within the inner lumen extends along the longitudinal axis. The output shaft includes a helical screw thread extending radially outward from the output shaft toward an inner surface of the cannula. An actuator is connected to the hopper and to the output shaft to drive the output shaft rotationally relative to the hopper and to the cannula.

IMPLANT BASED PLANNING, DIGITIZING, AND REGISTRATION FOR TOTAL JOINT ARTHROPLASTY

A method for registering one or more surfaces associated with a bone for implant revision procedures includes a digitizer used to digitize surface points on remaining cement, bone surfaces, or both. The bone is adapted to hold a primary implant and from which the primary implant was removed. The position of the one or more surfaces associated with bone is registered by computing at least one of: a generic set of one or more planes using the surface points or a best match between a known implant geometry and the surface points. A computer-assisted surgical system is also provided to execute the method.

An implant apparatus for use in uniting a pair of bone segments, the apparatus including a first stem configured to be implanted in an intramedullary cavity of a first bone segment; a second stem configured to be implanted in an intramedullary cavity of a second bone segment; and a connector for connecting the first stem to the second stem, the connector including a first connector segment and a second connector segment, wherein the first connector segment and the second connector segment are coupled together at a lap joint connection.

INTERNAL PEDICLE INSULATOR
20210113336 · 2021-04-22 ·

A pedicle insulator implant is designed to protect the nerves and surrounding tissue from injury by pedicle screws or other surgical devices and instruments. The implant is configured to shield a fixture, reduce nerve root irritation, and diminish loosening of the fixture, when the fixture is implanted into the void of a target site. The implant includes features for stabilizing and securing the implant within the void at the target site. For example, in one embodiment, the implant includes one or more ridges and one or more teeth sections that stabilize the implant against rotational and extractive forces that could disturb the implant.

Adjustable Revision Guide with Translating Stem Adaptor
20210128173 · 2021-05-06 · ·

An adjustable revision guide for femoral resections comprising a translating stem adaptor, a distal end of the translating stem adaptor configured to selectively attach to a femoral trial/resection guide. The translating stem adaptor configured to selectively translate the femoral trial/resection guide proximally-distally. A proximal end of the translating stem adaptor configured to selectively attach to an offset adaptor of an intramedullary rod. The translating stem adaptor configured to allow for selective locking of rotation of the offset adapter on the translating stem adaptor to thereby lock-in a selected offset. A femoral trial/resection guide selectively attached to the distal end of the translating stem adaptor for use in resecting said distal femur. An intramedullary rod attached to the proximal end of the translating stem adaptor via an offset adaptor on a distal end.

BONE REPLACEMENT IMPLANTS WITH MECHANICALLY BIOCOMPATIBLE CELLULAR MATERIAL
20210052389 · 2021-02-25 ·

A methodology integrating multiscale analysis and design optimization to design a novel bone replacement implant made of a functionally graded cellular material that meets fatigue requirements imposed by cyclic loadings. The pore microarchitecture, described by interconnectivity, porosity, pore size as well as pore topology, is optimally designed for tissue regeneration and mechanical strength. A bone implant with a graded cellular microstructure is also provided.

Post-operative bone growth stimulant introduction method

A method of revising a patient having a fusion cage implanted within a spinal column, involving percutaneously delivering a first end of a tube to the spinal column, fluidly connecting the first end of the tube to the fusion cage, and delivering a bone growth agent into the fusion cage through the tube.

Side-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument systems and associated methods of use

A surgical instrument system includes a pair of side-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument assemblies. The right-limb side-specific instrument assembly is kitted so as to be devoid of left-limb side-specific instruments and vice versa.
