Method and apparatus for post-operative tuning of a spinal implant
A tunable implant, system, and method enables a tunable implant to be adjusted within a patient. The tunable implant includes a securing mechanism to secure the implant in the patient, a actuation portion that enables the implant to move and an adjustment portion that permits adjustment of the implant after the implant has been positioned within the patient. The method of adjusting the tunable implant includes analyzing the operation of the implant, determining if any adjustments are necessary and adjusting the implant to improve implant performance. The implant system includes both the tunable implant and a telemetric system that is operable to telemetrically receive data from the tunable implant where the data is used to determine if adjustment of the tunable implant is necessary. The system also includes an instrument assembly that is used for performing spinal surgery where the instrument assembly includes a mounting platform and a jig.
IMPLANT BASED PLANNING, DIGITIZING, AND REGISTRATION FOR TOTAL JOINT ARTHROPLASTY
A system and process for performing orthopedic surgery is provided that uses a patient's existing implant as a registration tool in an orthopedic surgical procedure. The systems and processes may be used with computer assisted systems or navigation systems to aid in the removal of bone, bone cement, or a bone prosthesis, typically a bone prosthesis used in hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, and the like. The removal of the prosthesis may be done by conventional methods, with navigation systems, robotic assistance or articulating hand held systems. The removal of bone and/or bone cement may be performed with navigated systems, robotic systems, articulating hand-held systems and combinations thereof.
Systems for shoulder prostheses
A modular reverse shoulder prosthesis according to embodiments of the present invention includes a stem having a proximal taper and a primary stem axis, the proximal taper extending from the stem about a metaphyseal axis, the metaphyseal axis at an angle with respect to the primary stem axis, a metaphysis having a proximal end, a distal end, a first aperture in the distal end configured to be placed over the proximal taper, and a second aperture in the proximal end having an insert axis that is eccentrically offset from the metaphyseal axis, the metaphysis configured for attachment to the stem at any rotational position of the metaphysis about the metaphyseal axis, and a reverse insert, the reverse insert having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end comprises a concave cup formed about a cup axis and configured to receive a glenosphere, and wherein the distal end comprises a locking protrusion, wherein the locking protrusion has an outer surface with a cross-sectional shape that is rotationally symmetrical about the insert axis with respect to a corresponding inner surface of the second aperture, wherein the rotational symmetry has an order of six, seven, eight, nine, or ten.
OFFSET ADAPTER UNIT
The present invention relates to an implant playing a role as a joint in coupling a revision implant in revision total knee arthroplasty and, more specifically, to an offset adapter unit comprising an adapter which couples a femoral member or a tibial member to a stem member in revision total knee arthroplasty; and a nut coupled to the adapter, thereby improving the strength by considering fracture occurring in the narrowest area.
Side-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument systems and associated methods of use
A surgical instrument system includes a pair of side-specific orthopaedic surgical instrument assemblies. The right-limb side-specific instrument assembly is kitted so as to be devoid of left-limb side-specific instruments and vice versa.
System and method for preparing a patient's femur in an orthopaedic joint replacement procedure
An orthopaedic joint replacement system is shown and described. The system includes a number of prosthetic components configured to be implanted into a patient's knee. The system also includes a number of surgical instruments configured for use in preparing the bones of the patient's knee to receive the implants. A method or technique for using the surgical instruments to prepare the bones is also disclosed.
Pad for acetabular bone revision and reconstruction and fixing structure for pad and acetabular cup prosthesis
The present disclosure relates to the field of medical instruments, in particular to a pad for acetabular bone revision and reconstruction and a fixing structure for a pad and an acetabular cup prosthesis. The pad is located between an acetabular cup prosthesis and the acetabular bone, and is connected to the acetabular cup prosthesis and the acetabular bone respectively. The pad includes a first component and a second component which has the same or different radius and shape as or from the radius and shape of the first component; the first component is movably connected with the second component; and the shape of the connected first component and second component is matched with a defective part of the acetabular bone.
STEMLESS SHOULDER IMPLANT WITH FIXATION COMPONENTS
An implant assembly may include a first component having a proximal plate and a distal portion extending from the proximal plate, a first screw of a first type, and a first screw of a second type. The proximal plate may have a proximal face, a distal face configured to abut bone, and a periphery. The proximal plate may define a plurality of apertures. An opening may be defined by the proximal plate and extend through the distal portion. Each of the plurality of apertures may be disposed between the opening and the periphery. The first screw of the first type may be sized and configured to be received in the opening and engage bone. The first screw of the second type may be sized and configured to be received in at least one of the plurality of apertures.
Joint osteotomy system and method
A resection guide includes a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion has a first bone engagement structure and defines a first plurality of holes. The second body portion has a second bone engagement structure and defines a second plurality of holes. The first body portion and the second body portion are operable to separate a first anatomical structure of a patient and a second anatomical structure of the patient. A cutting guide defines at least one guide aperture that is operable for guiding a cutting tool for use in resecting a portion of the second anatomical structure of the patient. The cutting guide is positionable relative to the first body portion.
