Arthrodesis/intercallary/short stem limb salvage implant
An implant apparatus for use in uniting a pair of bone segments, the apparatus including a first stem configured to be implanted in an intramedullary cavity of a first bone segment; a second stem configured to be implanted in an intramedullary cavity of a second bone segment; and a connector for connecting the first stem to the second stem, the connector including a first connector segment and a second connector segment, wherein the first connector segment and the second connector segment are coupled together at a lap joint connection.
PRESSURE SENSITIVE TRIAL INSTRUMENT AND METHOD
An implant-trialing instrument for objectively determining a recommended implant size based at least in part on results of inserting a pressure sensitive trial implant into the intervertebral space. The trial implant instrument can include a handle coupled to a pressure sensitive trial. The handle can include an elongate shaft. The pressure sensitive trial implant can be disposed on a distal end of the elongate shaft and include a superior end plate surface configured to engage a first end plate of a first vertebral body and an inferior end plate configured to engage a second end plate of a second vertebral body. The pressure sensitive trial implant also includes a pressure sensitive film disposed on at least one of the superior end plate and the inferior end plate.
Modular Augment
Proposed is a modular augment, and, more specifically, a modular augment in which an additional unit is separably coupled to a center unit so as to selectively couple the additional unit to the center unit according to the degree of a patient's bone loss so that the degree of bone reinforcement can be easily adjusted, and thus a manufacturer is capable of covering various types of patients even though the types of units are minimized, thereby reducing manufacturing costs, the number of products to be prepared for surgery by a user such as a hospital is remarkably reduced, thereby preventing the unnecessary costs and facilitating inventory management, and a patient can receive an optimal augment that is appropriate for the patient' condition.
Version-replicating instrument and orthopaedic surgical procedure for using the same to implant a revision hip prosthesis
A modular femoral prosthesis for use during performance of a hip revision procedure includes a proximal body component, a distal stem component, and a locking bolt. Surgical instruments and methods for use in implanting such a modular femoral prosthesis are disclosed.
Multi-layered prosthetic element
A multi-layered prosthetic element comprises a central body (1; 1) of a substantially truncated conical shape and having a through axial cavity (2; 2) open at both ends which gives the central body (1; 1) a ring-shaped cross-section. The central body (1, 1) comprises an outer portion (110; 110), made of trabecular metal material, an inner portion (130; 130), made of trabecular metal material, and an intermediate portion (120; 120) made of metal material without significant porosity. The outer portion (110; 110) and the inner portion (130; 130) are integrally connected to the intermediate portion (120; 120). The intermediate portion (120; 120) is configured to mechanically resist to stresses transmitted to the inner portion (130; 130) on one side and to the outer portion (110; 110) on the other side.
Anatomically shaped augments
Augments for implantation of an orthopedic implant device in a bone. A distal end of an outer portion of the augment can have a shape that is configured to generally conform to the shape of a metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction of an intramedullary canal of the bone. Further, a proximal end of the outer portion of the augment has a shape that is configured to generally conform to a shape of the metaphyseal region of the intramedullary canal. Additionally, the shape of the outer portion at the distal end can be separated from the shape of the outer portion at the proximal end by a distance that is approximately equal to the distance between the metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction and the metaphyseal region of the intramedullary canal.
Protective Sheath For Medical Implant
A combined assembly of a medical implant and a sheath includes a medical implant having a surface and a sheath that is releasably secured to and protectively covers the surface of the medical implant. The sheath may protectively cover some or all of the surface of the medical implant. The sheath may be frictionally or mechanically retained on the medical implant. The medical implant may include both an inner surface and an outer surface, and the sheath may include both an inner sheath portion and an outer sheath portion. The sheath may include one or more perforations, a gripping structure that cooperates with a handling tool, or a handle.
FLEXIBLE SPINAL FUSION ROD
A spinal rod assembly includes a flexible spinal fusion rod including link members that articulate with one another so that the rod is formable into a curved orientation. A locking mechanism is coupled to the link members and can lock the link members so that the rod is maintained in the curved orientation.
Intervertebral Implant With Integrated Fixation
A surgical instrument and method are provided for removal of a spinal implant from the intervertebral disc space. The instrument includes a carriage body for interfacing with the implant, a housing for interfacing with the vertebrae, and a handle portion having a first portion rotatably coupled with a proximal end of the housing and a second portion rotatably engageable with a proximal attachment portion of the carriage body. A central passage of the housing extends between the proximal end and a distal engagement surface of the housing. The central passage is dimensioned to mate with the carriage body. Rotation of the handle portion about an axis causes translational movement of the carriage body along the axis. A modular inserter/distractor apparatus and method and an anchor remover and method are also provided.
Distal reamer for use during an orthopaedic surgical procedure to implant a revision hip prosthesis
A modular femoral prosthesis for use during performance of a hip revision procedure includes a proximal body component, a distal stem component, and a locking bolt. Surgical instruments and methods for use in implanting such a modular femoral prosthesis are disclosed.
