MEDICAL DEVICE FOR BONE IMPLANT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUCH A DEVICE
A bone implantable medical device made from a biocompatible material, preferably comprising titania or zirconia, has at least a portion of its surface modified to facilitate improved integration with bone. The implantable device may incorporate a surface infused with osteoinductive agent and/or may incorporate holes loaded with a therapeutic agent. The infused surface and/or the holes may be patterned to determine the distribution of and amount of osteoinductive agent and/or therapeutic agent incorporated. The rate of release or elation profile of the therapeutic agent may be controlled. Methods for producing such a bone implantable medical device are also disclosed and employ the use of accelerated Neutral Beam irradiation, wherein the Neutral Beam is derived from an accelerated gas cluster ion beam irradiation for improving bone integration.
Osteochondral local prosthetic insert
The present invention refers to an osteochondral local prosthetic insert for partial humeral joint reconstitution by reconstitution of the bone anatomical sphericity to treat bone lesions, in particular Hill-Sachs lesions. The local osteochondral prosthetic insert is a rigid monolithic body having a truncated-cone shape, the proximal diameter greater than the distal diameter, the proximal end of convex shape and rounded at the corners, and a tapered distal end. The lateral surface of the insert shows in the middle-distal part a non-return shaping that allows the maintenance of the position defined in the surgical operation. The proximal end is convex in order to better adapt to the local bone sphericity and has recesses for the manipulation and positioning through dedicated tools.
Prosthetic intervertebral disk
An intervertebral disk prostheses for the total replacement of an intervertebral disk of the lumbar and cervical spine has an upper plate having upwardly projecting formations anchoring it to an upper vertebra on its upper face and a concavity on its inner face surrounded by an edge. A lower plate is provided with downwardly projecting formations anchoring it to a lower vertebra on its lower face and a flat inner face surrounding a groove extending front-to-back. A middle plate between the upper and lower plate has on its upper face a convexity that is identically or differently shaped to the concavity on the inner face of the upper plate and a ridge extending front-to-back surrounded by a flat lower face of the middle plate. The ridge has flanks and the groove houses the ridge of the middle plate and permits the ridge to slide front-to-back in the groove.
Implant of Osteostimulative Material
The present disclosure provides a bone-implantable device and methods of use. The bone-implantable device comprises a body having an exterior surface, wherein a portion of the exterior surface includes a cured osteostimulative material comprising MgO.
SUTURE PASSAGES FOR PROSTHESES
Disclosed herein are an implant with a suture passage and a method of attaching sutures to the same. The implant may include a suture pocket having a first pocket, a second pocket, and a suture hole disposed therebetween. The first pocket may have a first wall segment, the second pocket may have a second wall segment, and the suture hole may have a first sidewall segment extending from a first opening to a second opening. The first wall segment, the second wall segment, and the first sidewall segment may form a contiguous wall. A method of attaching a suture to the implant may include placing a tip of a suture needle on the first wall segment, sliding the suture needle into the first opening and pushing the suture needle through the suture hole.
Prosthetic device, method of planning bone removal for implantation of prosthetic device, and robotic system
A robotic system for preparing a bone to receive a prosthetic device. The robotic system includes a controllable guide structure configured to guide cutting of the bone into a shape for receiving the prosthetic device, and a computer readable medium for storing data representative of the prosthetic device. The prosthetic device includes a body portion having an implantation surface configured to face the bone upon implantation and at least one feature that provides a constraint structure that will constrain the prosthetic device in the bone. The robotic system includes a control system for controlling the guide structure, and is configured to define at least one bone-cutting pattern for (i) removing a first portion of bone in a first area sufficient to seat the body portion and (ii) at least one of removing and maintaining a second portion of bone in a second area configured to interact with the constraint structure.
Blade-like shaft of a hip joint prosthesis
A blade-like stem of a hip joint prosthesis for anchoring in the femur, including a prosthesis neck portion and a femur-anchoring portion extending therefrom and having a proximal end and a distal end, the femur-anchoring portion including a proximal arcuate portion extending from a location adjacent the proximal end and having a radius of curvature that changes in a distal-to-proximal direction, and the femur-anchoring portion further including a distal tapered portion extending from the proximal arcuate portion toward the distal end.
PROPHYLACTIC BACTERICIDAL MEDICAL DEVICE
A medical implant system is described for inhibiting infection associated with a joint prosthesis implant. An inventive system includes an implant body made of a biocompatible material which has a metal component disposed on an external surface of the implant body. A current is allowed to flow to the metal component, stimulating release of metal ions toxic to microbes, such as bacteria, protozoa, fungi, and viruses. One detailed system is completely surgically implantable in the patient such that no part of the system is external to the patient while the system is in use. In addition, externally controlled devices are provided which allow for modulation of implanted components.
Anterior lumbar cage and inserter device
A plate and cage assembly for stabilization of vertebral bodies. The assembly includes at least one fixation member, a cage having a proximal wall, a superior surface and an inferior surface (the superior surface and the inferior surface for engaging adjacent vertebrae), and a plate coupled to the cage and having at least one hole traversing the plate at an angle for insertion of the at least one fixation member into one of the vertebral bodies. The proximal wall of the cage has a blind hole, and the plate has a threaded screw hole aligned with the blind hole in the proximal wall of the cage.
Bone implants and methods comprising demineralized bone material
Bone implant compositions and methods are provide that have an outer surface, the outer surface comprising demineralized bone and having a cavity disposed in the outer surface, the cavity having a demineralized bone material coated therein; and an inner surface of the bone implant comprising cortical bone, the inner surface contacting the outer surface. The bone implant compositions and methods provided are osteoinductive and allow rapid bone fusion.
