Spinal programmable implant
Various embodiments of implant systems and related apparatus, and methods of operating the same are described herein. In various embodiments, an implant for interfacing with a bone structure includes a web structure, including a space truss, configured to interface with human bone tissue. The space truss includes two or more planar truss units having a plurality of struts joined at nodes. Implants are optimized for the expected stress applied at the bone structure site.
Methods and systems for providing gender specific pharmaceuticals
The present disclosure provides a system of gender specific pharmaceuticals. The system includes a first package of a pharmaceutical for use by a male and a second package of a pharmaceutical for use by a female. The first package includes at least one male dosage having a first dosage amount, an insert positioned in the first package, the insert including a recommended male dosage and a recommended female dosage that is different than the male dosage, and a male label coupled to the first package, the label including a male gender specifier. The female package includes at least one female dosage having a second dosage amount that is smaller than the first dosage amount, an insert positioned in the first package, the insert including a recommended male dosage and a recommended female dosage that is different than the male dosage, and a female label coupled to the second package, the female label including a female gender specifier, wherein the female gender specifier is different than the male gender specifier.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF LENGTH PRESERVATION DURING BONE REPAIR
In various embodiments, an implant for interfacing with a bone structure includes a web structure including a space truss. The space truss includes two or more planar truss units having a plurality of struts joined at nodes and the web structure is configured to interface with human bone tissue. In some embodiments, a method is provided that includes accessing an intersomatic space and inserting an implant into the intersomatic space. The implant includes a web structure including a space truss. The space truss includes two or more planar truss units having a plurality of struts joined at nodes and the web structure is configured to interface with human bone tissue.
COMPOSITE BONE GRAFT DEVICE
A composite bone graft which comprises an allograft bone component; a synthetic bone substitute, wherein the synthetic bone substitute is in contact with the allograft bone component. The composite is arranged within a resorbable mesh casing.
Intervertebral spacer device having recessed notch pairs for manipulation using a surgical tool
Instrumentation for implanting an artificial intervertebral disc includes static trials and a dynamic trial for determining the appropriate size of disc to be implanted, static trial holders for manipulating the static trials, inserter/impactors for inserting and removing the static trials and for inserting the artificial intervertebral discs, repositioners/extractors for repositioning and extracting the static trials or the artificial intervertebral discs, and a leveler for setting the proper position of the artificial intervertebral disc. Methods for using the same are also disclosed. Features for artificial intervertebral discs and intervertebral spacer devices useful for manipulation by the instrumentation are also disclosed.
KNEE IMPLANT METHODS AND SYSTEMS
The disclosure includes a method for providing prosthetic implants for a total knee replacement procedure. This method includes receiving data representative of a knee joint of a patient and determining anatomical parameters from the received data. The method also includes creating a graphical model of the knee joint based on the determined anatomical parameters, and providing a femoral component of a knee joint implant based on at least one of the determined anatomical parameters and the graphical femoral portion. This method also includes providing at least one cutting instrument configured to facilitate removing a portion of the femur of the patient based on at least one of determined anatomical parameters and the graphical model.
RESISTANCE WELDING A POROUS METAL LAYER TO A METAL SUBSTRATE UTILIZING AN INTERMEDIATE ELEMENT
One aspect of the present disclosure provides a method of manufacturing an orthopedic prosthesis. This particular method includes providing a porous metal layer (22) positioned against a metal substrate at an interface between the porous metal layer and the metal substrate. Additional steps include providing an electrode (132) and providing an intermediate element or coating positioned between and in contact with the electrode and the porous metal layer where the intermediate element includes tantalum in contact with tantalum of the porous metal layer. In a further step, an electrical current is directed to the interface between the porous metal layer and the metal substrate to bond the porous metal layer to the metal substrate.
Composite bone graft device
A composite bone graft which comprises an allograft bone component; a synthetic bone substitute, wherein the synthetic bone substitute is in contact with the allograft bone component. The composite is arranged within a resorbable mesh casing.
DEVICES FOR ENHANCING THE FATIGUE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF BONE CEMENT AND OTHER BIOMATERIALS
A device includes a bone cement or a biomaterial and a mesh structure impregnated with the bone cement or the biomaterial. The mesh structure reinforces the bone cement or the biomaterial and reinforces the material's fatigue properties. The mesh structure may be made of a shape memory alloy.
Methods and apparatus for treating disc herniation and preventing the extrusion of interbody bone graft
Methods and apparatus for treating disc herniation provide a conformable device which assumes a first shape associated with insertion and a second shape or expanded shape to occlude the defect which typically follows partial discectomy. The device may take different forms according to the invention, including patches size to cover the defect or plugs adapted to fill the defect. In a preferred embodiment, however, the device is a gel or other liquid or semi-liquid which solidifies to occlude the defect from within the body of the disc itself. In another preferred embodiment, a mesh screen is collapsed into an elongated form for the purposes of insertion, thereby minimizing the size of the requisite incision while avoiding delicate surrounding nerves. Such a configuration also permits the use of instrumentation to install the device, including, for example, a hollow tube or sheath adapted to hold the collapsed screen, and a push rod to expel the collapsed device out of the sheath for use in occluding the disc defect. A device according to the invention may further include one or more anchors to assist in permanently affixing the device with respect to the defect.
