HIP PROSTHESIS
A short-stem femoral implant suitable for use in hip arthroplasty configured to self-stabilise against sliding across the endo-cortex when implanted in a subject's femur. The femoral implant includes a distal end configured to engage in abutment with the lateral endo-cortex of the subject's femur at two distal locations such that when implanted, the femoral implant has a reduced tendency for sliding across the endo-cortex.
Hip Joint Device
A medical device for fixation in a femoral bone of a patient is provided, the medical device comprises: a connecting portion adapted to be connected to a prosthetic hip joint contacting portion, an expanding portion, and a bone contacting surface on the expanding portion. The expanding portion could be adapted to be at least partially inserted into the femoral bone of a patient and to expand within the femoral bone, such that the bone contacting surface is placed in contact with the inside of the femoral bone for fixating the medical device to the femoral bone. By the fixation using an expanding portion a sturdy fixation is achieved without the need to go into or penetrate bone, or the need for fixation using bone cement.
HIP JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD
A medical device, and a method for using the device, for implantation in a hip joint, wherein said medical device is adapted to be fixated to the femoral bone and receive a prosthetic replacement for the caput femur having a spherical portion, and to be fixated to the pelvic bone by a connection via an elongated member fixated to said spherical portion of said prosthetic caput femur. Wherein an inner surface comprises an equator line, being the largest circular circumference of said inner surface. Further at least one extending portion passes beyond said equator line and circumferentially extends discontinuously along said equator line, such that a portion of said elongated member can be placed between said extension line and said equator line, when said medical device being implanted together with the prosthetic replacement for the caput femur.
INTERCONNECTED IMPLANTS AND METHODS
An apparatus, system, and method may be used to replace a natural or artificial articular surface of a joint, and to repair a bone that is associated with the joint. In some embodiments, the apparatus, system, and method may include a joint replacement prosthesis with a prosthetic articular surface, a support structure securable to the bone, and a first attachment interface. The system may also include a bone plate with a bone engagement surface securable to the bone on either side of a fracture formed in the bone, or a damaged area of the bone. The bone plate may include a second attachment interface that is attachable to the first attachment interface of the joint replacement prosthesis in order to couple the bone plate to the joint replacement prosthesis.
APPARATUS, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING CUSTOMIZABLE BONE IMPLANTS
The present invention includes a method for generating a three-dimensional model of a bone and generating a cut plan for excavating a portion of the bone according to the cut plan to allow the insertion of a custom implant. In a particular arrangement, the method also includes excavating the bone with an autonomous extremity excavator utilizing the cut plan generated by a processor. In a further arrangement, the method includes generating a digital model of a custom implant and generating, using the digital model, a physical model sharing the same dimensions as the digital module using manufacturing device.
Hip replacement navigation system and method
A hip joint navigation system is provided that includes a base having at least one channel disposed therethrough for receiving a pin for mounting the base to the pelvis. A mount feature is disposed on a top surface. A registration jig is configured to couple with the base and to engage anatomical landmarks. In some aspects, a patient specific jig system for hip replacement is provided including an engagement surface formed to closely mate to acetabular bone contours of a specific patient and a registration feature configured to be in a pre-determined orientation relative to an acetabulum the patient when the jig is coupled with acetabular bone contours of the specific patient. In other aspects, methods of using the systems are provided.
Hip joint device
A medical device for implantation in a hip joint comprising: a first part adapted to be fixated to the femoral bone of the patient; and a second part rotatably connected to the first part by means of a connecting member. The first part comprises a bowl-shaped inner contacting surface portion adapted to receive a bowl-shaped outer contacting surface portion of the second part such that the second part is rotatable, relative to the first part, around a point of rotation formed by the connecting member. The second part comprises a bowl-shaped inner surface adapted to receive a ball-shaped portion of a prosthetic replacement for the caput femur. The inner contacting surface comprises at least one extending portion extending beyond the equator line and being adapted to clasp the ball-shaped portion of the prosthetic replacement for the caput femur.
Implantable medical device and method of implanting the medical device
An implantable medical device for implantation in a mammal joint having at least two contacting surfaces is provided. The medical device comprises; an artificial contacting surface adapted to replace at least the surface of at least one of the mammal's joint contacting surfaces, wherein the artificial contacting surface is adapted to be lubricated, when implanted in said joint. Furthermore the medical device comprises at least one inlet adapted to receive a lubricating fluid from a reservoir, at least one channel at least partly integrated in the artificial contacting surface in connection with the at least one inlet for distributing the lubricating fluid to the surface of the artificial contacting surface. The medical device could be adapted to be operable by an operation device to receive the distributed lubricated fluid from a reservoir.
BUFFER FOR FEMORAL HEAD AND NECK EXCISION
An apparatus for the treatment of canine or other animal hip pathologies, the apparatus (200) comprising a buffer (210) adapted to be disposed between a femur (10) and a hip socket (25), and a fixing means (250) adapted to fix the buffer to the femur.
