Modular spacer device for the treatment of prosthesis infections
A spacer device for the two-step treatment of prosthesis infections, made from biologically compatible and porous material designed to allow the possibility of adding pharmaceutical products, active and/or therapeutic ingredients, includes a first portion designed to be fixed to a corresponding bone bed remaining from a previous implant, and a second portion designed to be inserted in a corresponding articular area of the patient, the first portion and the second portion being attached by adjustable connecting means.
HIP PROSTHESIS DEVICES
A hip prosthesis device including a femoral stem, the femoral stem including an elongate stem sleeve having a blind hole extending in a longitudinal direction and a hole opening at an upper frontal end of the stem sleeve; a stem core having an elongate stem shaft inserted in the blind hole and slidable in the longitudinal direction, a neck having a lower neck portion and an upper neck portion, a lower end of a lower neck portion attached to an upper end of the stem shaft, the upper neck portion attachable to a femoral head; a shock absorber mechanism operatively provided between the stem shaft and the stem sleeve to act against a downwardly directed longitudinal sliding motion of the stem shaft relative to the stem sleeve; and a closure cap positioned to close the hole opening with a through hole which the neck extends with its lower neck portion.
Stem for a hip prosthesis, with fixed or modular neck
A stem for a hip prosthesis, with fixed or modular neck, which includes a stem body divided into a proximal region and a distal region, the body of the stem forming an anterior wall, a posterior wall, a medial wall, and a lateral wall. The anterior wall, the posterior wall, and the medial wall are provided at least partially with a porous structure with undercuts, the lateral wall being provided with a machining allowance.
Surgical Suture System, Tissue Restraints, and Tissue Anchors
A surgical suture system, tissue restraint/suture capture and tissue anchor for tissue repair and reattachment of torn tissue to a tissue substrate, medical, veterinary or dental prosthesis or medical implant. The system includes a plurality of tissue restraints/suture captures which each include a central locking aperture sized and configured to receive a beaded suture member passed therethrough which minimizes longitudinal tensioning and/or restraining movement, the “GO” force, of a beaded suture member in the forwardly direction through the locking apertures for suture tightening and which maximizes “NO-GO” force to pull the suture in the reverse direction. Uniquely configured tissue anchors and other medically implantable devices securely receive one of the tissue restraints/suture captures for tensioning of a suture member between tissue and the tissue anchor.
MEMBRANE ENCAPSULATED JOINT IMPLANT SEALED UNDER VACUUM
For a membrane encapsulated joint implant sealed under vacuum, a joint implant includes an outer cup, an inner cup, a joint head, a joint membrane, a lubricant, and an implant stem. The outer cup attached at a proximal bone. The nests within the outer cup and receives a joint head, the inner cup comprising an inner cup rim. The joint head is disposed within the inner cup and forms a bearing that rotates within the inner cup. The joint membrane sealed to the inner cup rim and vacuum seals the joint head within the inner cup to form a capsular space. The lubricant is disposed within the capsular space. The implant stem that is attached to a distal bone and that attaches through the joint head through the joint membrane.
Applications of diffusion hardening techniques
A device, for example a medical implant, and a method of making the same, the device having a metal or metal alloy substrate, for example CoCr, and a diffusion hardened metallic surface, for example a plasma carburized surface, contacting a non-diffusion hardened surface or a diffusion hardened surface having a diffusion hardening species different from that of the opposing surface.
IMPLANT REMOVAL TOOL
An implant removal tool (1) used to remove a femoral implant (17) from a femur bone (18) by providing a substantially U-shaped body (2) having a substantially rectangular-shaped opening (9) located thereon that allows the substantially U-shaped body to be placed over a neck (21) of a femoral implant so a sharpened front edge (5) of the substantially U-shaped body makes direct contact with an inner surface of the stein of the femoral implant. The U-shaped body may have front side edges (26, 27) that extend beyond a front edge (5) to allow the front side edges to cut anterior and posterior surface of the implant.
METHOD FOR LUBRICATING AN ARTIFICIAL CONTACTING SURFACE
A method for implanting a medical device for implantation in a mammal joint. The method comprising the steps of creating an opening reaching from outside of the human body into the joint, providing said artificial contacting surface to said joint, fixating the artificial contacting surface to the joint, implanting said reservoir in the human body, and lubricating the artificial contacting surface with use of a lubricating fluid contained in said reservoir.
IMPLANTS WITH GROOVE PATTERNS AND SOFT TISSUE ATTACHMENT FEATURES
An orthopaedic implant includes an implant body comprising a biocompatible material and configured to be implanted at an anatomical location, the implant body defining a surface; and a porous material at least one of attached to and integral with the surface of the implant body, the porous material having a plurality of grooves formed therein.
CUSTOMIZATION OF AN ORTHOPAEDIC IMPLANT
An implant customization platform may receive image data associated with a bone of a patient. The implant customization platform may convert the image data to a structural representation of the bone. The implant customization platform may identify, based on the structural representation, a placement for an orthopaedic implant relative to the bone. The implant customization platform may determine a performance characteristic for a combination of the bone and the orthopaedic implant. The implant customization platform may determine, using an implant customization model, a data representation of the orthopaedic implant based on the structural representation, the placement, and the performance characteristic. The implant customization platform may perform an action associated with the data representation to permit the orthopaedic implant to be formed.
