ACETABULAIR IMPLANTAAT EN WERKWIJZE VOOR HET VERVORMEN VAN DIT IMPLANTAAT
Acetabular implant and method for its manufacture, wherein the implant has a bone side with a contact surface to be fixed against the bone of the hip socket. A plastically deformable zone with an open porous structure connects to the contact surface, the zone being formed by a three-dimensional structure composed of strut elements with opposite ends, wherein these strut elements are connected at their ends in nodes. The zone is made of a material having an elongation at break of at least 15%.
BONE DENSITY SCAN RESULT-MATCHED ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS AND METHODS OF USE
A method of treating a patient in need of an orthopedic implant is described. The method includes obtaining the T-score or bone density of the patient's native bone at a site of implantation, said T-score or bone density being determined by a DEXA scan or other means of determining a T-score or bone density. The method further includes selecting an orthopedic implant that has about the same density as the native bone at the site of implantation, and implanting the orthopedic implant at the site of implantation.
ORTHOPAEDIC BROACH EXTRACTION TOOL
An apparatus, system, and method for extracting an orthopaedic broach from a bone of a patient comprises an orthopaedic broach extraction tool having a pair of jaws that are operable to secure the orthopaedic broach extraction tool to the orthopaedic broach. Once secured, the orthopaedic broach extraction tool can be used to facilitate extraction of the orthopaedic broach from the patient's bone using, for example, a reverse impaction tool.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING ORTHOPEDIC PROSTHESES
An orthopedic prosthesis mold, comprising a first housing including a first cavity therein shaped to form a portion of an orthopedic prosthesis; a second housing coupled to the first housing, the second housing including a second cavity therein shaped to form a portion of an orthopedic prosthesis, wherein the first and second housings are constructed from a material having a first hardness; a first shell element configured to receive at least a portion of the first housing therein; a second shell element configured to receive at least a portion of the first housing therein, wherein the first and second shell elements are constructed from a material having a second hardness greater than the first hardness; and a connection element releasably engageable to the first and second shell elements to prevent separation of the first shell element from the second shell element.
Implant Stability Measurement
Disclosed herein are joint implants and methods for tracking joint implant performance. A method for monitoring a joint implant performance may include coupling a first implant to a first bone of a joint, the first implant including at least one magnetic marker. Coupling a second implant to a second bone of the joint, the second implant including at least one magnetic sensor to detect a position of the magnetic marker. Performing a first joint stress test to measure a baseline joint stability value, the baseline joint stability value being generated by the at least one magnetic sensor. Performing a second joint stress test to measure a second joint stability value, the second joint stability value being generated by the at least one magnetic sensor. Determining joint stability of the joint by comparing the baseline joint stability value to the second joint stability value.
Hip Arthroplasty Trial Systems and Associated Medical Devices, Methods, and Kits
Hip arthroplasty trial systems and associated medical devices, methods, and kits are described that can be utilized in situ to complete a femoral head trial. An example embodiment of a hip arthroplasty trial system includes a medical device and a femoral stem. The medical device has a head member, a spacer, a shaft, and a locking member. The spacer is disposed within the head member and is moveable from a first position to a second position. The shaft is disposed within the head member and contacts the femoral stem. The shaft is moveable from a first position to a second position. Movement of the shaft from the first position to the second position moves the spacer from its first position to its second position. The locking member is disposed within the head member and releasably attaches the shaft to the head member.
HIP PROSTHESIS CONTAINING ZIRCONIUM-NIOBIUM ALLOY ON OXIDATION LAYER AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure discloses the hip prosthesis containing zirconium-niobium alloy on oxidation layer and a preparation method thereof, the hip prosthesis comprises a femoral stem, a femoral head, liners and a shell; the shell and femoral stem are prepared by using zirconium-niobium alloy powder as a raw material, and performing Sinter-HIP, cryogenic cooling and surface oxidation; the prepared shell and femoral stem are provided with partitioned trabeculae and formed by 3D printing. The problem of traditional manufacturing methods cannot process complex structures and failure of connection between sleeve and femoral handle is solved by 3D printing technology. Meanwhile, the preparation method can improve the bonding strength between trabecular bone and solid, and improve the service life of prosthesis.
Hip Joint Method
A method of treating a hip joint of a human patient using a pelvic drill comprising a driving member, a bone contacting and an operating device for operating said driving member. The method comprise the steps of creating a hole passing through the pelvic bone and into the hip joint of the human patient, and providing at least one hip joint surface to the hip joint, through said hole in the pelvic bone of the human patient. In one embodiment the method includes inserting a needle or tube like instrument into the patient's body for filling a part of the patient's body with gas and thereby expanding a cavity within the body.
Hip or shoulder prosthesis and placement instruments
A hip/shoulder prosthesis includes: a head component; a metaphyseal component; a diaphyseal nail, and a locking device. The head component includes: a front face and rear face; with a bore, and first and second shaped recesses in the rear face. The metaphyseal component includes: a central transverse aperture at an angle to the metaphyseal component's axis; a first end configured for threaded engagement within the bore of the head component; and a longitudinal hole that begins at the second end, transects the transverse aperture and reaches the first end, to receive the locking device. The diaphyseal nail is inserted in the femoral or humeral canal, and includes: fastening apertures that receive corresponding screws for fastening the diaphyseal nail to the femur or humerus; a portion configured to he received within, and engage, the transverse aperture of the metaphyseal component, and a transverse hole configured to receive the locking device.
Modular femoral trialing system permitting relative movement
An assembly for attachment to a first implant component has a size and shape of a second implant component to be implanted together with the first implant component. The assembly includes a first body and a second body removably connected to the first body. In a temporary configuration, the first and second bodies are prevented from separating while the first and second bodies permit relative movement therebetween. A modular kit includes a plurality of the first bodies each having a different size or shape, and a plurality of the second bodies each having a different size or shape. A method of assembling the assembly includes removably connecting the first body to the second body, such that the first and second bodies are prevented from separating while permitting relative movement therebetween, and positioning the assembly on the first implant component.
