FASTENING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A compression fastener may include a shaft and a helical thread disposed about the shaft. The shaft may include a proximal end, a distal end, a proximal shaft portion, and a distal shaft portion. The helical thread may include at least one concave undercut surface and a plurality of pitches that may include at least one first pitch along the proximal shaft portion and at least one second pitch along the distal shaft portion. The at least one concave undercut surface may be angled towards one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft, and the at least one first pitch and the at least one second pitch may not be equal to each other.
ARTHROPLASTY IMPLANTS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A bone implant may include a shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis, a proximal shaft portion, and a distal shaft portion. The proximal shaft portion may include a first minor diameter, and a first helical thread disposed about the proximal shaft portion defining a first major diameter. The first helical thread may include a first concave undercut surface. The distal shaft portion may include a second minor diameter, and a second helical thread disposed about the distal shaft portion defining a second major diameter. The second helical thread may include a second concave undercut surface. The first and second concave undercut surfaces may be angled towards the distal end of the shaft. The second minor diameter may be smaller than the first minor diameter and the second major diameter may be smaller than the first major diameter.
INTERNAL OSSEOINTEGRATED IMPLANT FOR TRANSFEMORAL AMPUTEE
The present invention is an internal osseointegrated transfemoral amputee implant device and related methods. The device is designed to restore the enclosed nature of the bone marrow system which is disrupted by amputation, plus provide a pressure tolerant (weight-bearing) surface and mechanical anchoring for the iliotibial band.
FASTENING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A method of preventing bone blowout may include forming a hole in a bone, the hole having a bone hole diameter, and inserting a bone fastener into the hole. The bone fastener may include a shaft having a minor diameter and a helical thread. The helical thread may be disposed about the shaft and may include a first undercut surface and a second undercut surface. The first undercut surface may be angled toward one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft, and the second undercut surface may be angled toward the other one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft. The minor diameter of the shaft may not be greater than 5% larger the bone hole diameter.
FASTENING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A pedicle bone fastener may include a shaft, a helical thread, and an integrated attachment feature. The shaft may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. The helical thread may be disposed about the shaft along the longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal ends of the shaft. The helical thread may include a first undercut surface and a second undercut surface. The first undercut surface may be angled toward one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft and the second undercut surface may be angled toward the other one of the proximal end and the distal end of the shaft. The integrated attachment feature may be disposed at the proximal end of the shaft and configured to be adjustably secured to a spinal stabilization implement.
Bone joint replacement and repair assembly and method of repairing and replacing a bone joint
A bone joint repair and replacement assembly. A first portion comprising a bone plate is configured to attach to a distal or proximal end of a bone proximate the joint, generally coaxially with an axis defined by the bone. A second portion comprising an articular surface is configured to attach to the first portion, generally normal with respect to the axis, and inserted into the joint. Although versions of the assembly can be configured for use with several different pivotal joints, the invention is particularly suitable for full or partial replacement of an elbow, wherein the articular surface is pivotally attached to the first portion. Another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair a fractured bone head proximate the joint, and still another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair rotator cuff-related shoulder injuries.
Elbow joint prostheses
A radial head assembly is provided that includes a stem, a collar, a locking ring, and an articular member. The stem has a convex articular head on one end thereof. The locking ring has a ring wall, which has a ring opening. The ring wall has an angular outer surface and a slot configured to permit the ring wall to radially expand. The angular outer surface engages an angular portion of an interior surface of the collar. The articular member and the locking ring define an articular space within the collar. The articular space is configured to receive the convex articular head.

Surgical instrument handle with implant sizing feature and method of using
A single-use handle is disclosed for releasably engaging an orthopedic device. The handle includes an elongate body that has a first portion that, in turn, defines a connection end adapted for connection to an upper end portion of a broach. The handle includes a second end portion adapted to be griped by a user. The handle further includes a cylindrical bore at the connection end. The bore is configured to receive a corresponding male portion of a surgical instrument. The handle further includes a button that is adapted to releasably connect the instrument in the bore. The handle further includes a plurality of sizing cavities that have a predetermined size and shape that corresponds to the size and shape of an orthopedic implant. The handle is of a biocompatible, disposable material.
