Implantable prosthesis for replacing the human knee joint
The implantable prosthesis for replacing a human knee joint comprises a femoral prosthetic element (12) and a tibial prosthetic element (14) which are articulated with one another by means of a joint device (30) for the purpose of executing a knee bend. The tibial prosthetic element (14) has a through-opening (40) for the passage of a tool (84), a rod-like shaft anchoring part (32) or an intramedullary lengthening nail (80). In order to reduce the extent of a surgical intervention and thus the risk of infection also for the lengthening of the tibia, the joint device (30) is designed such that it forms a guide channel (42) for the passage of the tool (84), the rod-like shaft anchoring part (32) or the intramedullary lengthening nail (80) from the outside, which guide channel is in alignment with the through-opening (40) and is in connection therewith when the tibial prosthetic element (14) and the femoral prosthetic element (12) are arranged at a predetermined angle relative to one another in a functional position corresponding to a knee bend.
Hinge Knee Preparation Instrumentation And Associated Methods
A hinge knee system includes a tibial assembly having a baseplate component and an axle component. The baseplate component has an opening that extends therein from a proximal end toward a distal end thereof. The axle component has a shaft portion receivable within the opening of the baseplate component and an axle connected to the shaft portion that extends in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the shaft portion. The system also includes a femoral assembly that includes a distal femoral component. The distal femoral component includes condylar portions and an intercondylar portion disposed between the condylar portions. The intercondylar portion includes a bearing surface that defines a recess configured to rotatably receive the axle for articulation therewith.
Extra-articular implantable mechanical energy absorbing systems and implantation method
A system and method for sharing and absorbing energy between body parts. In one aspect, the method involves identifying link pivot locations, fixing base components and minimally invasive insertion techniques. In one particular aspect, the system facilitates absorbing energy between members forming a joint such as between articulating bones.
PROSTHETIC APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY
Disclosed are various apparatus and systems by which a ball and socket Joint s interposed between prosthetic medial and lateral femorotibial articulations, permitting multidirectional movement and rotation as well as weight-bearing characteristics. Some embodiments have fixed components, while others are modular or quasi-modular in nature. Modifications to traditional designs for embedding a prosthetic tibial component into a tibia are also taught.
ARTIFICIAL JOINT IMPLANT
An artificial joint implant (1) comprising a first element (2) with a socket (4) and a second element (3) with a ball head (5), wherein said ball head (5) is insertable in said socket (4) such as to form a ball-and-socket connection between said first element (2) and said second element (3), and the movement of said ball head (5) in said socket (4) is restricted by means of a protrusion (6.1; 6.2) engaged in a groove (7), whereby said protrusion (6.1; 6.2) has a central axis A2 and is protruding from the surface of said socket (4) and said groove (7) is provided on the surface of said ball head (5) or vice versa; said groove (7) is positioned along a great circle of said ball head (5) or of said socket (4), said protrusion (6.1; 6.2) has a shape allowing rotation of the protrusion around its central axis A2 when received in the groove (7); and the surface roughness of the protrusion (6.1; 6.2) and/or of the groove (7) is at most 25 micrometers.
Reverse knee prosthesis
A reverse knee prosthesis for use in knee replacement surgery having a femoral component and a trochleal component. The femoral component comprises a stem, which is affixed in a femur, and a femoral cup having a generally concave portion which is sized to articulate on the trochleal component. The femoral cup also comprises a posterior lip and an anterior lip wherein the anterior lip is longer than the posterior lip. The trochleal component is affixed to a tibial tray which in turn is affixed to the tibia and has a transverse curved body with a narrowed waist. The generally concave portion of the femoral cup has a ridge extending outwardly therefrom, the ridge being sized to articulate on the narrowed waist.

Hinged joint system
Methods, systems, and devices for replacement of a joint with a prosthetic system that replicates the natural kinematics of the joint is disclosed. A prosthetic system according to one embodiment includes a tibial component having a tibial plateau and a tibial stem portion, the tibial plateau having a top side and a bottom side, a tibial insert, with a bearing surface, adapted to be positioned on the top side of the tibial plateau, a femoral component having a base portion and a central housing, the femoral component having an axis of extension-flexion rotation, the base portion having a pair of condyles, an a mechanical linkage component linking the tibial component with the femoral component and with the tibial insert in between the tibial component and the femoral component, so that there is a center of contact between the condyles and the bearing surface.
