Modular humeral head

A humeral head assembly is provided that includes an articular body and a coupler. The articular body includes a coupling portion disposed on a side of the articular body opposite an articular surface. The coupling portion includes a continuous zone of eccentricity adjustment. The coupler portion optionally includes one or more than one discrete position site. The coupler includes a first portion and a second portion opposite the first portion. The first portion is configured to mate with the coupling portion and the second portion is configured to mate with another member of a joint prosthesis. A coupling portion with the continuous range of eccentricity adjustment can be provided on a bone anchor and the eccentricity of another component can be selected by motion of a coupler, such as a tray for reverse humeral assemblies, along the coupling portion of the anchor.

Provided is a method of manufacturing a prosthesis for a fractured long bone of a patient, the method including the steps of: A) providing data representative of the fractured long bone in a patient; B) based on said data, designing the prosthesis specifically to the patient, the prosthesis including a stem part that is configured to secure fragment(s) of the fractured long bone at chosen securing position(s) that will apply chosen mechanical stress onto the bone fragments and reduce the risk of osteonecrosis of the bone fragments.

A hip/shoulder prosthesis includes: a head component; a metaphyseal component; a diaphyseal nail, and a locking device. The head component includes: a front face and rear face; with a bore, and first and second shaped recesses in the rear face. The metaphyseal component includes: a central transverse aperture at an angle to the metaphyseal component's axis; a first end configured for threaded engagement within the bore of the head component; and a longitudinal hole that begins at the second end, transects the transverse aperture and reaches the first end, to receive the locking device. The diaphyseal nail is inserted in the femoral or humeral canal, and includes: fastening apertures that receive corresponding screws for fastening the diaphyseal nail to the femur or humerus; a portion configured to he received within, and engage, the transverse aperture of the metaphyseal component, and a transverse hole configured to receive the locking device.

The collar may have a superior portion and an inferior portion, the superior portion defining an arc shape and the inferior portion defining a substantially triangular shape.

The mounting plate comprises: a first major surface; a second major surface opposing the first major surface; an adapter accommodation hole extending through the mounting plate; and sizing indicia located on the second major surface. The fastener extends from the mounting plate. The adapter coupling plate comprises: a third major surface; a fourth major surface opposing the third major surface; an adapter coupling hole extending through the adapter coupling plate and surrounded by the adapter accommodation hole; and an indicator located on the fourth major surface to point to the sizing indicia on the mounting plate. The adapter coupling plate can be slidable along a slot surrounding the fastener or a tongue and groove system connecting the adapter coupling plate and the mounting plate and locked via the fastener.

The humeral head trial may include a first portion, a second portion, and a post extending from the second portion. The first portion may define a convex articular surface with a movable surface substantially flush with the convex articular surface. The post may define a first length in a first configuration and a second length in a second configuration. The first length may be greater than the second length. The post may change from the first configuration to the second configuration by moving the movable surface with respect to the convex articular surface.
