WHOLE TALUS IMPLANT AND METHOD
There is disclosed a talus implant comprising a base having at least one hole and at least one pin. There is also a top comprising at least one hole and at least one pin, wherein the top is configured to be inserted into the base. At least one embodiment comprises a tibial implant comprising at least one post and at least one base coupled to the at least one post. Additionally, there is at least one pad coupled to the at least one base, wherein the at least one pad is selectively insertable into and removable from the at least one base. A method for fabricating a talus and tibial implant is disclosed and also a method for inserting a talus implant and a tibial implant into a patient having a damaged talus joint.
Reverse Ankle Replacement System
The presented invention is a system for performing reverse ankle replacement in the setting of ankle joint osteoarthritis, and other degenerative conditions of the ankle joint including avascular necrosis. The presented tibial and talar components can be implanted in a cement-less or cemented fashion. The prosthesis of the presented invention consists of (1) a tibial component which includes a planar undersurface with porous texture applied to its upper, non-bearing surfaces, (2) a talar component which includes a bearing surface which is concave, (3) a polyethylene component which includes a bearing undersurface which is convex, and (4) multiple talar component embodiments with or without flanges and/or screw holes for accommodation of bone screws for additional fixation and for permitting sub-talar joint fusion.
TOTAL ANKLE REPLACEMENT TRIAL AND PREPARATION SYSTEMS, GUIDES, INSTRUMENTS AND RELATED METHODS
Instruments, guides, systems and related methods for total ankle prostheses are disclosed. The instruments, guides, systems and related methods facilitate preparation of a tibia and/or talus of a patient for implantation of a total ankle prosthesis therein. The instruments, guides, systems and related methods also facilitate selection of a particular size of a tibial component, a talus component and/or a tibial insert of the total ankle prosthesis that suits the patient. The instruments, guides, systems and related methods include a tibial trial component, a talar trial component and tibial insert trial component that replicate one or more aspects of the tibial component, the talus component and the tibial insert, respectively, of the total ankle prosthesis. The talar trial component includes an articulation surface that articulates with the tibial insert trial component, and slots that facilitate chamfered resection of the patient's talus for the implantation of the talus component thereon.
SURGICAL KIT FOR REPAIR OF ARTICULAR SURFACES IN THE TALOCRURAL JOINT INCLUDING SURGICAL SAW GUIDE
A surgical kit suitable for repair of articular surfaces in the talocrural joint, includes: a surgical implant having a cap with an outer surface conforming to a talus dome surface and an inner surface having a central implant anchoring peg extending perpendicularly from said inner surface, a hollow tubular shell suitable for correct pre-drilling for implantation of the surgical joint implant in the dome of the talus, and a saw guide conforming and fixable to the lower portion of the tibia and providing saw guide surfaces in at least one plane, suitable for osteotomy of a lower portion of a tibia to expose the dome of the talus.
Joint osteotomy system and method
A resection guide includes a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion has a first bone engagement structure and defines a first plurality of holes. The second body portion has a second bone engagement structure and defines a second plurality of holes. The first body portion and the second body portion are operable to separate a first anatomical structure of a patient and a second anatomical structure of the patient. A cutting guide defines at least one guide aperture that is operable for guiding a cutting tool for use in resecting a portion of the second anatomical structure of the patient. The cutting guide is positionable relative to the first body portion.
ANKLE PROSTHESIS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
The present disclosure pertains to ankle prostheses. In an example embodiment, the ankle prosthesis comprises an adjustable and replaceable intermediate implant that is disposed between a tibial implant and a talar implant. The intermediate implant is adjustable relative to the tibial implant and can be interlocked therewith once adjusted. Methods of using, fitting, and adjusting the device are also described. Still other embodiments are described.
Subtalar joint prostheseis and its method of implantation
A subtalar joint prosthesis that is adapted to replace the natural subtalar joint that exists between a patient's talus and calcaneus bones includes talar and calcaneal components. Each of these is configured to have a shape that is herein defined as being a portion of the boundary surface of a frustum. Meanwhile, these components' inner surfaces are configured to: (a) generally follow the anatomic contour of the original joint surface to which each component is to be attached, and (b) minimize each components's average thickness, consistent with providing sufficient strength and rigidity for the components, so as to require minimum bone resection for the implantation of these components.
SUBTALAR JOINT IMPLANT
A subtalar joint implant (20) is disclosed for replacing a natural subtalar joint existing between the talus (102) and calcaneum (104) bones of a patient. In an embodiment the implant comprises talar (22) and calcaneal (24) portions that are configured to slide over each other in the implanted state. The implant is shaped so that the sliding is constrained to trajectories that involve pivoting of the talar portion relative to the calcaneal portion about a pivot point (36) or a line (38) of pivot points.
Custom radiographically designed cutting guides and instruments for use in total ankle replacement surgery
A system comprised of custom radiographically designed tibial and talar cutting guides, a tibial reaming guide and bit, and instrumentalities for use in total ankle replacement surgery and a computer-based system and method for making the custom radiographically designed tibial and talar cutting guides.
Augmented reality display for fitting, sizing, trialing and balancing of virtual implants on the physical joint of a patient for manual and robot assisted joint replacement
Devices and methods for performing a surgical step or surgical procedure with visual guidance using an optical head mounted display are disclosed.
