Surgical Instrumentation Assembly for Positioning an Ankle Prosthesis
In order to position an ankle prosthesis including a tibial implant and a talus implant provided with a talo-calcaneal anchoring keel, the invention proposes a surgical instrumentation assembly including: a tibial phantom (60) of the tibial implant, adapted so as to be attached to the tibia (T) of a patient, and an aiming guide (80) adapted for setting into place an instrumentation element (90) through the talus (A) and the calcaneus (C) of the patient, along an axis (Z-Z) for implanting the talo-calcaneal anchoring keel, the tibial phantom and the aiming guide mechanically cooperating with each other to restrict movement of the tibial phantom and the aiming guide relative to each other along vertical and medio-lateral directions, wherein the aiming guide is configured to guide placement of the instrumentation element.
DYNAMIC JOINT ANALYSIS FOR JOINT REPLACEMENT
Devices, systems, and techniques are described for determining surgical guidance for a joint replacement implantation based on dynamic joint analysis. Techniques include receiving patient specific data indicative of pre-operative motion associated with an ankle (300) of a patient and determining, based on the patient specific data, a current kinematic axis (302) of the motion associated with the ankle. Techniques also include determining a target kinematic axis (304) of motion for the ankle, the target kinematic axis being different than the current kinematic axis, and generating a transform function between the current kinematic axis and the target kinematic axis. Additionally, techniques include generating, based on the transform function, a recommended surgical intervention that adjusts tissue associated with the ankle to achieve the target kinematic axis of motion.
Talus implant
At least one embodiment comprises a talus implant comprising: a body section; a neck section; a crown, wherein the crown is positioned at a top portion of the body section; at least one wing coupled to the body section, wherein the wing extends out from the body section. At least one embodiment further comprises at least one screw hole positioned in at least one of the neck section and the body section. In at least one embodiment the outer surface of the implant is polished. In at least one embodiment a portion of the outer surface is polished while a portion of the outer surface is roughened.
ANKLE PROSTHESIS WITH SIMPLIFIED ADJUSTMENT
The invention relates to an ankle prosthesis including a talar implant, a tibial implant, and an intermediate implant designed to be mounted to move relative to said talar implant in order to impart mobility to the ankle, said prosthesis further including embedded adjustment structure designed to alternate between a releasing state, in which they allow the intermediate implant to move relative to the tibial implant, and a locking state, in which they hold the prosthesis in the chosen assembly configuration, said prosthesis being characterized in that said adjustment structure can be controlled to be operable while the prosthesis is in the assembled state in vivo.
Ultra-wideband positioning for wireless ultrasound tracking and communication
A method of designing an orthopedic implant comprising: (a) iteratively evaluating possible shapes of a dynamic orthopedic implant using actual anatomical shape considerations and kinematic shape considerations; and, (b) selecting a dynamic orthopedic implant shape from one of the possible shapes, where the dynamic orthopedic implant shape selected satisfies predetermined kinematic and anatomical constraints.
Joint instrumentation and associated methods of use
A trial implant is provided. The implant includes a central portion. The central portion includes a top articulating surface extending between a first end and a second end and having a convex shape, a bottom surface configured to at least partially contact a first resected surface of a bone, and a first side surface extending between the top articulating surface and the bottom surface. The first side surface is sloped such that a width of the top articulating surface is greater than a width of the bottom surface. The implant further includes a first outer portion extending laterally from the central portion. The first side surface and the first outer portion are separated by a first opening shaped such that up to four resected surfaces of the bone are visible when the trial implant is seated on the bone.
Ankle prosthesis comprising a talar implant, a tibial implant and an insert, and kit including at least one such prosthesis
An ankle prosthesis comprising a tibial implant, a talar implant and an insert to articulate the implants. The top face of the tibial implant having an anchoring fin, and the bottom face is articulated with the top surface of the insert. The bottom face of the talar implant includes an anchor to the talar bone, and the top face is articulated with the bottom surface of the insert. The articulation surface being saddle-shaped and including a longitudinal central groove allowing the insert to move longitudinally and rotate transversely. The top face of the tibial implant includes, on its anterior edge, a shield covering the bottom anterior portion of the tibia, and the tibial face is inclined and forms an angle with the horizontal of between 15° and 45°. Passages are provided in the shield for bone screws passing through in an ascending manner and open on the inclined tibial face.
Joint osteotomy system and method
A system includes a first spacer sized and configured to be received within a resected bone space of a first bone and a second spacer sized and configured to be coupled to a second bone. The first spacer and the second spacer each include a body extending between a bone contacting surface and a coupling surface. At least one shim is positioned between the first and second spacers. The shim includes a body extending between a first coupling surface and a second coupling surface. The first spacer, the second spacer, and the at least one shim position the first and second bones in a predetermined alignment. An adjustable guide including a guide adapter and a guide body is configured to couple to the first spacer and is adjustable on a first axis.
IMPLANTS AND METHODS OF USE AND ASSEMBLY
Implants, devices, and methods for maintaining, correcting and/or fusing joint deformities are disclosed. The implant a first member, a second member, and an insert with a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface couples to the first member and the bottom surface engages the second member. Kits and methods of using the implants for maintaining, correcting and/or fusing joint deformities are also disclosed.
Ankle replacement system and method
Surgical methods are presented for sizing and adjusting a spacer and trial relative to a joint so as to properly position a cutting guide for resection of a bone.
