SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MODIFYING TALOCALCANEAL RELATIONSHIP IN A FOOT
20170252175 · 2017-09-07 · ·

A system for modifying a talocalcaneal spatial relationship in a foot in a body, including a subtalar spacer having an articulating surface and implanted in the sinus tarsi of the foot and a fastener that fastens the subtalar spacer to a bone surface in the foot, in which the articulating surface of the subtalar spacer directs relative movement between the calcaneus and the talus of the foot.

Provided is a system and method for providing a non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant for surgical implant into a person's foot proximate to the ankle. This system for repair includes at least one sterile non-binding allograft subtablar joint implant provided as a pre-formed allograft rod plug ARP having a diameter about equal to an average width of a canal between a person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP being resiliently compressible and flexible. When snuggly disposed between the person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP compresses during normal use of the person's foot and maintains the canal in an anatomically correct alignment and reduces a tendency for abnormal motion between the person's talus and calcaneus bones. An associated method of use is also provided.

The invention concerns a surgical implant (1) for correcting the mutual positioning or orientation of the bones of a patient designed to be inserted between at least two bone bodies (2, 3) of said patient, and comprising: a main body (5) extending along a longitudinal axis (X-X), a plurality of fins (9), each fin (9) being provided with a junction edge (10) connecting said fin (9) to said main body (5), such that said fins (9) protrude from said main body (5) from the respective junction edge (10) thereof, the surgical implant (1) being characterized in that each fin (9) has a sufficient flexibility so that it can be deformed along a direction centripetal and/or parallel to the longitudinal axis (X-X) under the action of at least one of the bone bodies (2, 3) when said surgical implant (1) is inserted between said bone bodies (2, 3).

A surgical implant for use in subtalar joint motion limitation and having a semi-pliable body and a generally L- or J-shaped plate attached thereto. The plate may be in one or two pieces. A bar is formed on the end of the plate distal the semi-pliable body. A plurality of bores extend through the plate and bar to allow for the attachment of the implant to a subtalar joint bone.

Methods and devices are disclosed for manipulating alignment of the foot to treat patients with flat feet, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction and metatarsophalangeal joint dysfunction. An inflatable implant is positioned in or about the sinus tarsi and/or first metatarsal-phalangeal joint of the foot. The implant is insertable by minimally invasive means and inflatable through a catheter or needle. Inflation of the implant alters the range of motion in the subtalar or first metatarsal-phalangeal joint and changes the alignment of the foot.

Instruments for preparing bone implants

A system includes a cutting guide and a cutting template. The cutting guide has a body including a plurality of sides that together define a cavity that is accessible via an opening defined by a first side of the plurality of sides. A second side of the plurality of sides defines at least two elongate slots. The second side is disposed adjacent to the first side and at a distance from an opposed third side. Each of the at least two slots is in communication with the cavity and disposed at a different location along the second side. The cutting template has a body defining at least one elongate slot. The cutting template is configured to be engaged with the cutting guide such that the at least one elongate slot of the cutting template aligns with at least one of the at least two elongate slots of the cutting guide.
