WRIST IMPLANTS
The present invention provides a prosthetic wrist implant comprising: a radial implant component having an elongated radial stem extending proximally adapted for attachment to radius, a carpal implant component having a distal surface adapted for attachment to one or more carpal bones, and a interposed component between the radial implant component and the carpal implant component that is flexible and allows for changes in orientation between the radial component and the carpal components relative to each other component.
COMBINED SEMI-LIMITING MULTIPOLAR ARTIFICIAL WRIST JOINT
The present invention discloses a combined semi-limiting multipolar artificial wrist joint, or semi-limiting bipolar artificial wrist joint, and be selected and assembled based on the specific pathological conditions of wrist bone destruction. For instance, the metacarpal bone articular surface is shown to be complete and the bone quality is good, and most of the far carpal bones (including small polyangular bones and head bones) can be preserved, while the proximal carpal bones (scaphoid and lunate) and the articular surface of the carpal radius are broken, and the proximal carpal bones are to be excised. The artificial wrist joint can also be assembled in another way, which is called semi-limiting multipolar artificial wrist joint, wherein the pathologically damaged double carpal bones are excised to form an inter-matching assembly of palm, wrist and radius joints.
Joint replacement device
A joint replacement device includes a male component with a structure to couple to a bone on one side of a joint, and an outer articulation surface that is attached to the structure via a neck. A female component is configured to couple to a bone on an opposite side of the joint and includes a cavity that is surrounded by an inner articulation surface. An opening of the cavity is shaped to enable insertion of the outer articulation surface into the cavity when the outer articulation surface is aligned with the opening, and to prevent separation of the male component from the female component when rotated so as not to align with the opening. The neck is located within the opening and the outer articulation surface is rotatable within the outer articulation surface with a rotation that is limited by dimensions of the opening and the neck.
WHOLLY PATIENT-SPECIFIC ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS AND IMPLANTING APPRATUSES, SYSTEM AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
The present invention involves orthopedic implants of small joints in human, in particular a truly patient-specific bone implanting system comprising the implant and surgical tools fabricated by additive manufacturing techniques based on the inputs conforming to each patient's anatomy and obtainable from a wide range of existing 3-dimensional imaging and image processing technologies, which offers a substantial progress in logistics, efficiency of surgical operation, and functionality of treated bones.
Orthopaedic implants having self-lubricated articulating surfaces designed to reduce wear, corrosion, and ion leaching
An orthopaedic implant can replace a joint in a patient. The orthopaedic implant includes a first component having a first component surface and a second component having a second component surface. The first component surface and the second component surface mate at an interface. The first component surface includes a metal substrate, a nanotextured surface, a ceramic coating, and a transition zone. The nanotextured surface is disposed directly upon the metal substrate and has surface features in a size of 10.sup.9 meters. The ceramic coating conforms to the nanotextured surface and includes a plurality of bio-active sites configured to attract and retain calcium and phosphorous cations. The transition zone is disposed between the metal substrate and the ceramic coating. The transition zone includes a concentration gradient transitioning from the metal substrate to the ceramic coating and there is no distinct interface between the metal substrate and the ceramic coating.
TOTAL WRIST PROSTHESIS AND RELATED METHODS
Disclosed is a wrist prosthesis, and methods for implanting same, the prosthesis comprising radial component having two sides, the first side comprising a stem and the second side comprising a concave dish; a carpal component having two sides, the first side comprising a stem, and the second side comprising a ball end, the ball end being connected to the carpal component through a neck, the neck being narrower than the diameter of the ball end; and a lunate component having two sides, the first side comprising a cavity adapted to receive said carpal component's ball end, and the second side comprising a convex surface adapted to engage said radial component's concave dish.
Wholly patient-specific orthopedic implants and implanting apparatuses, system and manufacture thereof
BONE FUSION PLATE AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ITS USE IN THE WRIST
The present invention relates to a crescent or tri-corner shaped orthopedic plate with at least a first and a second end, and generally coextensive top and bottom surfaces joined directly or indirectly by an edge. The plate includes a plurality of fixation holes the first end of the plate and a second end of the plate that receives locking screws and intermediate the two holes, the plate includes a recess that defines a screw hole edge at an angle relative to the top surface of the plate so as to receive and support a screw in the recess. The invention further relates to a method of fusion using the plate and a clamp designed for the method.
Total wrist prosthesis and related methods
Disclosed is a wrist prosthesis, and methods for implanting same, the prosthesis comprising an elongated radial component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a stem and the second side comprising a concave dish; an elongated carpal component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a stem, and the second side comprising a ball end; a lunate component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a cavity adapted to receive said carpal component's ball end, and the second side comprising a convex surface adapted to engage said radial component's concave dish; wherein said lunate component freely rotates and swivels with respect to both of said carpal and radial components; wherein said stem of said carpal component is adapted for rigid engagement with one or more carpal and/or metatarsal bones; and wherein said stem of said radial component is adapted for rigid engagement with a radius bone.
BONE JOINT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF REPAIRING AND REPLACING A BONE JOINT
A bone joint repair and replacement assembly. A first portion comprising a bone plate is configured to attach to a distal or proximal end of a bone proximate the joint, generally coaxially with an axis defined by the bone. A second portion comprising an articular surface is configured to attach to the first portion, generally normal with respect to the axis, and inserted into the joint. Although versions of the assembly can be configured for use with several different pivotal joints, the invention is particularly suitable for full or partial replacement of an elbow, wherein the articular surface is pivotally attached to the first portion. Another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair a fractured bone head proximate the joint, and still another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair rotator cuff-related shoulder injuries.
