20190254833 · 2019-08-22 ·

A prosthesis (1) for reconstruction of a distal radioulnar joint after resection of a part of the ulna close to a distal end portion (U1) thereof, comprises a first prosthesis member (2), fixation means (3) and a second prosthesis member (4). The first prosthesis member (2) is configured for fixation to the distal end portion (U1) of the ulna. The fixation means (3) are configured to extend into the radius via said distal end portion of the ulna for locking said distal end portion of the ulna to the radius. The second prosthesis member (4) is configured for fixation to the ulna (U2) proximally of a space (US) which is defined between the distal end portion (U1) of the ulna and the ulna proximally of said space by the resection of said part of the ulna close to said distal end portion of the ulna. The second prosthesis member (4) is also configured to extend into said space (US) for being joined with the first prosthesis member (2) in a manner which allows said first and second prosthesis members to at least pivot and rotate relative to each other. Said prosthesis may be used also for reconstruction of a proximal radioulnar joint.

JOINT REPLACEMENT DEVICE

A joint replacement device includes a male component with a structure to couple to a bone on one side of a joint, and an outer articulation surface that is attached to the structure via a neck. A female component is configured to couple to a bone on an opposite side of the joint and includes a cavity that is surrounded by an inner articulation surface. An opening of the cavity is shaped to enable insertion of the outer articulation surface into the cavity when the outer articulation surface is aligned with the opening, and to prevent separation of the male component from the female component when rotated so as not to align with the opening. The neck is located within the opening and the outer articulation surface is rotatable within the outer articulation surface with a rotation that is limited by dimensions of the opening and the neck.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FRACTURE REPLACEMENT OF COMMINUTED BONE FRACTURES OR PORTIONS THEREOF ADJACENT BONE JOINTS
20190151105 · 2019-05-23 ·

A system and method facilitating replacement of comminuted bone fractures or portions thereof adjacent bone joints. The system and method employs a prosthesis to replace at least a portion of the comminuted bone fractures. The prosthesis serves in reproducing the articular surface of the portion or portions of the comminuted bone fractures that are replaced. In doing so, the prosthesis serves in restoring joint viability and corresponding articulation thereof.

A radiocarpal wrist joint replacement includes a radial member configured to be affixed to a portion of an end of the radial bone proximal to the wrist including a fixture to be affixed over a longitudinal aspect of the radial bone and a radial resurfacing plate having a substantially concave surface configured to be located at the end of the radial bone. A carpal capitate bone insert configured to be inserted and affixed into the carpal capitate bone. A bulbous component includes a first convex head and a second convex head, substantially opposite each other and connected by a neck between the first and the second convex head. The radial resurfacing plate of the radial member with the concave surface is configured to be operably coupled to the second convex head of the bulbous component so as to allow radial freedom of motion in the joint replacement.

A two-piece socket for a ball-and-socket arrangement, including a base and a cap. The socket includes a leg on one of the cap or base of the socket and a receiving groove on the other of the cap or base of the socket, wherein there is at least one opening in the leg which lines up with a corresponding opening in the groove for a fastener to extend through these openings to releasably secure the cap to the base of the socket. The orientation of the fastener is such that the fastener is under shear loading when the cap is pulled apart from the base.

PROSTHESIS FOR DISTAL RADIOULNAR JOINT

A method and a device for replacing radioulnar joint are disclosed. The method may include inserting a distal stem into a distal part of the ulna bone, and inserting a proximal stem into the proximal part of the ulna bone. In addition, the method may include inserting a stem insertion part located at a proximal end of a mobile locker into the cylindrical-shaped opening of the proximal stem. The method further includes twisting the mobile locker so that the first semicircle-shaped opening and the second semicircle-shaped opening are aligned such that a spherical cavity is formed between the mobile locker, and inserting a mobile globe into the spherical cavity. The method may also include twisting the mobile locker so that the first semicircle-shaped opening and the second semicircle-shaped opening are misaligned and the mobile globe is secured within the spherical cavity, and securing the mobile locker into a substantially fixed position relative to the proximal stem by tightening one or more of a plurality of screws in a plurality of threaded holes.
