A humeral head implant system includes a head component including a first articulating surface, a second bottom surface extending from the first spherical articulating surface, a first cavity extending a first distance into the head component from the second bottom surface, and a second cavity extending into the head component along a cavity axis. The head component defines a head axis extending through a center of the first articulating surface parallel to the cavity axis. A base component defines a slot extending from a first width to a second width. An insert component includes an insert body, a first engagement feature, and a slot engagement feature. The first engagement feature is received in the second cavity along the cavity axis. The insert body has an insert thickness less than the first distance, and the slot engagement feature slides into the slot in a direction transverse to the cavity axis.

A stem extends from the plate portion, where the stem is positioned offset from a center of the plate portion. The coupling portion includes a first fixation component, and a second fixation component including an opening for receiving the first fixation component, where the first fixation component is coupled to the articulating member and the second fixation component is coupled to the base member.

BALL AND SOCKET JOINT SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR
20230078481 · 2023-03-16 · ·

A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a ball and socket joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.

COMPUTERIZED PREDICTION OF HUMERAL PROSTHESIS FOR SHOULDER SURGERY
20230085093 · 2023-03-16 ·

A surgical assistance system obtains patient-specific values of a plurality of physical characteristics of a humeral bone of a patient. The surgical assistance system predicts, based on the patient-specific values, a humeral prosthesis (202) for the patient from among a plurality of humeral prostheses, wherein the predicted humeral prosthesis has a filling ratio less than a remodeling threshold for the patient. The filling ratio of the humeral prosthesis is a ratio of (i) a radial distance from a lengthwise central axis of a stem (206) of the humeral prosthesis to an outer surface of the stem, to (ii) a radial distance from the lengthwise central axis of the stem to an inner surface of the intramedullary canal (208) of a humerus of the patient. The remodeling threshold for the patient is a filling ratio above which the humeral prosthesis would cause remodeling in the patient.

Method and system for preparing bone for receiving an implant

A method of performing arthroplasty of an anatomical joint for receipt of an implant is disclosed. The method includes developing a preoperative plan, designing a patient specific guide based on the preoperative plan, obtaining the patient specific guide, placing the patient specific guide relative to the identified bone, fixing a pair of pins into the bone to establish an Alpha plane and executing the preoperative plan while referencing the Alpha plane. A desired amount of remaining first bone is determined based on a condition of the anatomical joint and a desired orientation of the implant. The patient specific guide includes a pair of bores defined therein and located in positions to accept a complementary pair of pins. The bores are arranged at locations on the patient specific guide to orient the respective pins in a direction optimized for surgeon access to the first bone and to establish the Alpha plane.
