COMPONENTS FOR ARTIFICIAL JOINTS
A component of an artificial joint according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, inter alia, a base plate and a post selectively removable from the base plate. Further, an outer surface of the post includes a layer of the bone ingrowth material along substantially the entire length of the post.
MODULAR TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A modular system for total knee arthroplasty includes a modular trial implant assembly. The modular implant assembly includes an elongate shaft configured for insertion into an elongate cavity in a bone, a reamer removably coupleable to the elongate shaft via a connection that allows the reamer to rotate while the elongate shaft remains in a substantially fixed angular orientation. The reamer has an outer surface that tapers toward the distal end configured to form a tapered cavity in an end of a bone in which the reamer is inserted and rotated. The modular trial implant assembly further includes a trial implant removably coupleable to a proximal end of the reamer. A modular final implant assembly includes an elongate stem, a tapered body and an implant body, each having a size and shape that can substantially correspond to a size and shape of the elongate shaft, the reamer and the trial implant, respectively.
IMPLANT REMOVAL TOOL
An implant removal tool (1) used to remove a femoral implant (17) from a femur bone (18) by providing a substantially U-shaped body (2) having a substantially rectangular-shaped opening (9) located thereon that allows the substantially U-shaped body to be placed over a neck (21) of a femoral implant so a sharpened front edge (5) of the substantially U-shaped body makes direct contact with an inner surface of the stein of the femoral implant. The U-shaped body may have front side edges (26, 27) that extend beyond a front edge (5) to allow the front side edges to cut anterior and posterior surface of the implant.
Intervertebral implant having mechanical securement
An intervertebral implant for implantation between an upper vertebral body and a lower vertebral body is disclosed. The intervertebral implant includes a body portion through which a first and a second pathway pass. A first straight anchor is movable in a straight path through the first pathway and a second straight anchor is movable in a straight path through the second pathway. A locking member is movable between an open position and a closed position to either block or allow the withdrawal of the first and second straight anchors.
Spherical-arc rotating saw blade power tool for acetabular cup extraction
To remove a damaged acetabular cup attached to the hipbone, applicant positions the cutting surface of a curved cutting blade at the acetabular cup/hipbone interface. The blade mounts to a head. The powered drive shaft of a motor rotates the blade and head. A linkage, part of which may be around the drive shaft, moves longitudinally relative to the drive shaft under surgeon control. The linkage pivots the head and urges the blade into the interface. As the power tool rotates the curved blade and the linkage pivots the blade into the interface, the blade follows the hemispherical contour of the interface. Continued powered rotation of the drive shaft and blade and further pivoting of the blade cuts the cup from the hipbone.
Acetabular liner extraction
A tool assembly for extracting a liner from a prosthesis comprising an impactor and a faceplate. The impactor can be configured to receive and transmit a force. The faceplate can be configured to deliver the force from the impactor to the prosthesis to separate the liner from a shell of the prosthesis.
Prosthetic device for knee joint and methods of implanting and removing same
A prosthetic device for a knee joint includes a body portion and a first keel. The body portion attaches to a bone of a knee joint. The body portion can have a bearing surface configured to replace at least a portion of the bone and an implantation surface configured to face the bone upon implantation. The first keel can be configured to be inserted into a corresponding first keel void formed in the bone. The first feel can be configured to project outwardly from the implantation surface by an amount sufficient to inhibit movement of the body portion relative to the bone in both medial and lateral directions upon insertion into the first keel void. The first keel can extend along a longitudinal direction of the body portion and is offset from a longitudinal centerline of the body portion. Methods of implanting and removing the prosthetic device are also provided.
Intervertebral implant with blades for connecting to adjacent vertebral bodies
An intervertebral implant for insertion into an intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebral bodies or between two bone portions. The implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion operatively coupled to the spacer portion and one or more blades for securing the implant to the adjacent vertebral bodies. The blades preferably include superior and inferior cylindrical pins for engaging the adjacent vertebral bodies. The implant may be configured to be inserted via a direct lateral trans-psoas approach. Alternatively, the implant may be configured for insertion via an anterior approach.
Spinal artificial disc removal tool
An extraction tool for removing an installed artificial disc from a spine is provided. The extraction tool is impacted between the artificial disc and the vertebrae and engages the artificial disc to allow a surgeon to remove the artificial disc from the spine.
Anchoring device and system for an intervertebral implant, intervertebral implant and implantation instrument
Anchoring devices, anchoring systems for intervertebral implants, intervertebral implants, and instruments and methods for implanting implants are disclosed. In preferred configurations, these various objects share the feature of comprising or cooperating with an anchoring device having a body comprising at least one curved plate elongated along a longitudinal axis, designed to be inserted through a passage crossing at least a part of implant, in order to penetrate into at least one vertebral endplate and attach implant onto this vertebral endplate by means of at least one stop retaining the implant, characterized in that the body comprises at least one longitudinal rib on at least a part of at least one of its faces, said rib being designed to cooperate with a groove made in passage of implant. In some preferred configurations, anchoring device comprises withdrawal stops or latches, and/or means for withdrawing the anchor from an inserted position.
