Total knee joint mold and methods for gap balancing and joint line restoration
A femoral component kit includes a piston. The piston includes a notch formed in a bottom surface. The kit includes a femoral component mold having a mold body with a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and a bottom. The sidewalls and bottom define a recess for receiving an antibiotic-impregnated material. The recess includes depressed sections that are spaced apart by an inner section. The outer sections are transverse to a longitudinal axis of the mold. The inner section includes a keel that extends upward and has a height that sets a size of a femoral component produced using the mold. The keel is aligned with the notch when the piston is inserted within the mold. The notch and the keel may include one or more calibration markings that indicate increments of adjustments to the size of the femoral component and resulting flexion and extension gaps and joint space position.
Trochlear resurfacing system and method
A system for repairing a defect on an articular surface of a patient's trochlear region, the system comprising a guide block comprising a body having an exterior surface configured to engage with the saddle portion and ridge portions of the patient's trochlear region, a protrusion extending generally from the body and configured to be received in a first bore formed in the articular surface along a reference axis, and a first cavity extending through the body configured to establish a first working axis displaced from the reference axis, wherein the exterior surface of the body and the protrusion are configured to secure the location of the guide block about the patient's trochlear region. A method for preparing an implant site in bone, comprising: establishing a reference axis extending from the bone; creating a bore in the bone by reaming about the reference axis; securing a guide block about the articular surface; establishing a first working axis extending from the bone using the guide block, the first working axis is displaced from the reference axis; and creating a first socket in the bone by reaming about the first working axis, wherein the first socket partially overlaps with the bore.
Defect gauge instrument for preparation of surgical sites
This disclosure relates to a defect gauge instrument and method for repairing bone defects. The defect gauge instrument disclosed herein may be utilized to determine one or more characteristics of a bone defect prior to positioning a graft and/or implant at a surgical site.
SURGICAL TOOL FOR EXPANDABLE CAGE
A surgical tool for an expandable cage, the surgical tool including a hollow guide part, a first end of which is coupled to the cage, and a second end of which has a display part on which a numerical expansion value of the cage is displayed, and a driving part which is inserted into the guide part, the driving part being configured to rotate by being coupled to a shaft of the cage at an end thereof so as to expand the cage. According to the surgical tool for an expandable cage, the guide part is provided with the display part such that the numerical expansion value of the cage can be checked from the outside, thereby enabling stable surgery.
Adjustable tibial sizer
This disclosure relates to an adjustable tibial sizer for use in knee arthroplasty, the sizer includes a two-part body comprising: a first body portion, a second body portion, and a connection element extending therebetween. Each of the first and second body portions includes a ramp surface configured for simultaneous movement of the first body portion relative to the second body portion in an anterior-posterior direction and a medial-lateral direction, and method of use thereof.
Devices and methods for performing knee arthroplasty
Methods and devices for performing knee arthroplasty including but not limited to bicruciate retaining knee arthroplasty are provided. Methods and devices for preparing a proximal tibia for a tibial implant are also provided. These methods and devices, in at least some embodiments and uses, facilitate decreasing the complexity of knee arthroplasty procedures such as bicruciate retaining procedures while maintaining, if not improving on, the safety, accuracy and/or effectiveness of such procedures.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT HANDLE WITH IMPLANT SIZING FEATURE AND METHOD OF USING
A single-use handle is configured to attach to a working shaft that can support a sounder for measuring the medullary canal of a proximal radius, and a planarizer that is configured to planarize a proximal edge of the proximal radius after the proximal radius has been resected. The handle can further include a plurality of sizing cavities that are configured to receive the resected bone so as to determine the size of the resected bone. The handle can further include an ejector that is configured to decouple the planarizer from the working shaft.
Computer-assisted hip replacement surgery
A CAS system and method for guiding an operator in inserting a femoral implant in a femur as a function of a limb length and orientation of the femoral implant with respect to the femur, comprising a reference tool for the femur, a registration tool, a bone altering tool and a sensing apparatus. A controller is connected to the sensing apparatus to: i) register a frame of reference of the femur by calculating surface information provided by the registration tool as a function of the position and orientation of the registration tool provided by the sensing apparatus, and/or retrieving in a database a model of the femur; ii) calculate a desired implant position with respect to the frame of reference as a function of the limb length; and iii) calculate a current implant position and orientation in relation to the desired implant position with respect to alterations being performed in the femur with the bone altering tool, as a function of the position and orientation of the bone altering tool provided by the sensing apparatus and of a digital model of a femoral implant provided by the database. The database is connected to the controller for the controller to store and retrieve information relating to an operation of the controller. The computer-assisted system may be used to guide an operator in inserting a pelvic implant in an acetabulum as a function of an orientation of the pelvic implant with respect to the pelvis.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR OPERATING SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM WITH DUAL AXIS ADJUSTABILITY AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME
A surgical instrument includes a chassis, a first driving shaft, a first measuring mechanism, a second measuring mechanism, and a first handle. The chassis defines a first channel and a second channel each extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The first measuring mechanism corresponds to rotation in the first channel. The second measuring mechanism corresponds to rotation in the second channel. The first driving shaft is operable to be inserted into the first channel, engaging with the first measuring mechanism. The first driving shaft has an end portion configured to engage and drive a first adjustable feature and/or a second adjustable feature on a work-piece.
