METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RESTORING ARTICULAR CARTILAGE
The present invention comprises the provision and use of new and improved arthroscopic instrumentation for (i) harvesting a tissue biopsy from a non-critical section of a joint, and (ii) sizing and seating an autologous graft at an implant site.
TOTAL WRIST PROSTHESIS AND RELATED METHODS
Disclosed is a wrist prosthesis, and methods for implanting same, the prosthesis comprising an elongated radial component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a stem and the second side comprising a concave dish; an elongated carpal component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a stem, and the second side comprising a ball end; a lunate component having two opposite sides, the first side comprising a cavity adapted to receive said carpal component's ball end, and the second side comprising a convex surface adapted to engage said radial component's concave dish; wherein said lunate component freely rotates and swivels with respect to both of said carpal and radial components; wherein said stem of said carpal component is adapted for rigid engagement with one or more carpal and/or metatarsal bones; and wherein said stem of said radial component is adapted for rigid engagement with a radius bone.
EXPANDABLE FUSION DEVICE WITH INTEGRATED DEPLOYABLE RETENTION SPIKES
Expandable fusion devices, systems, and methods. The expandable fusion device includes one or more integrated deployable retention spikes configured to resist expulsion of the device when installed in the intervertebral disc space. The implant may include upper and lower main endplates, an actuator assembly configured to cause an expansion in height of the upper and lower main endplates, and a sidecar assembly including a sidecar carrier, an upper carrier endplate engaged with an upper spike, and a lower carrier endplate engaged with a lower spike such that forward translation of the sidecar carrier pushes against the upper and lower carrier endplates, thereby deploying the upper and lower spikes.
Expandable paddle distractor
Implementations described herein include surgical distraction devices having a distal movement assembly having a pusher plate comprising a first slot extending along a first axis disposed in a first side and a second slot extending along a second axis disposed in a second side thereof. The first axis is oriented at an angle of from about 60 to about 160 degrees from the second axis. The device further includes a first and second paddles, each paddle having a corresponding engagement mechanism for movably coupling the respective first or second paddle to the pusher plate when engaged in the respective slot. Rotational actuation of the proximal drive assembly causes proximal or distal movement of the pusher plate, causing the first and second engagement members to move relative to their respective slots, thereby moving the first paddle and the second paddle in opposing directions. Methods of using such surgical distraction devices to determine size of an intervertebral space are also described.
SPINAL SPACING IMPLANT, SPINAL SPACER ASSEMBLY, EXPANDER AND INSERTION INSTRUMENT, KIT AND METHODS OF ASSEMBLY AND USE
Spinal spacing implants, spinal spacer assembly, expander and insertion instruments, kits and methods of assembly and use are disclosed. The spinal implant replacement instrument kit including a distraction instrument, a spacer inserter, and a spinal implant. A distraction instrument includes a first inserter member, a second inserter member, a first arm coupled to the first inserter member, a second arm coupled to the second inserter member, a distraction system coupled to the first arm and second arm, a first handle coupled to the first arm and the distraction system, and a second handle coupled to the second arm and the distraction system. Spinal spacing implants, spinal spacer assemblies, and methods of assembling and using the implants assemblies, and instruments are also disclosed.
GLENOID ARTHROPLASTY
Arthroplasty components include an articular surface and a bone-facing surface. The bone-facing surface bears at least one anchoring element adapted for an oblique implantation trajectory. The articular surface may include a larger radius of curvature in the superior-inferior direction than in the anterior-posterior direction. An inferior chamfer may be present on the articular surface. Instruments and implantation methods are also disclosed.
Radiopaque Trial Disc, Plate, and Method of Use
Surgical kits comprising a tool having a handle and a shaft affixed to the handle at one end and a free end having a threaded connection, at least two disc inserts, each disc insert comprising a rounded square having an annular wall surrounding a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein a threaded catch is formed in each disc insert to mate with the threaded connection, and wherein the interface between the disc insert top surface and annular wall forms a first perimeter and the interface between the disc insert bottom surface and the annular wall forms a second perimeter. At least a portion of the disc inserts can be radiopaque and a portion can be radiolucent. Also provided are kits having one or more disc inserts and one or more trial plates, each trial plate comprising a plurality of positioning guides.
Surgical instrument handle with implant sizing feature and method of using
A single-use handle is configured to attach to a working shaft that can support a sounder for measuring the medullary canal of a proximal radius, and a planarizer that is configured to planarize a proximal edge of the proximal radius after the proximal radius has been resected. The handle can further include a plurality of sizing cavities that are configured to receive the resected bone so as to determine the size of the resected bone. The handle can further include an ejector that is configured to decouple the planarizer from the working shaft.
TRIALLING
A neck trial (170) is disclosed. The neck trial has a body (182) and a neck (186). The body has an exterior surface. The neck extends away from the body along a neck axis (190). At least one first line (194) is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a first direction parallel to an inferior-superior axis of a patient when in use. At least one second line (196) is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a second direction parallel to a medial-lateral axis of the patient in use. The number of first lines, or the position of the first line or lines relative to the second line or lines, is indicative of an amount of offset in the medial-lateral direction caused by the neck trial. The number of second lines, or the position of the second line or lines relative to the first line or lines, is indicative of an amount of leg-length in the inferior-superior direction caused by the neck trial. A kit of parts, a trial assembly and a method of trialling a joint of a patient are also disclosed.
Alignment devices and methods
Embodiments of the invention include devices and methods for implanting arthroplasty devices. Some embodiments include designs that allow for use of x-ray images as the only images used to fully and accurately preoperatively and intraoperatively size and align arthroplasty device components and prepare all necessary tissue.
