A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a cup and ball joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO COMPUTE A SUBLUXATION BETWEEN TWO BONES

Systems, methods and a sensor alignment mechanism are disclosed for medical navigational guidance systems. In one example, a system to make sterile a non-sterile optical sensor for use in navigational guidance during surgery includes a sterile drape having an optically transparent window to drape the optical sensor in a sterile barrier and a sensor alignment mechanism. The alignment mechanism secures the sensor through the drape in alignment with the window without breaching the sterile barrier and facilitates adjustment of the orientation of the optical sensor. The optical sensor may be aligned to view a surgical site when the alignment mechanism, assembled with the sterile drape and optical sensor, is attached to a bone. The alignment mechanism may be a lockable ball joint and facilitate orientation of the sensor in at least two degrees of freedom. A quick connect mechanism may couple the alignment mechanism to the bone.

An inclination guide for use with an implant insertion tool during a surgical procedure includes a unitary body having a clip configured to be coupled to a mounting surface of the implant insertion tool, an elongated riser extending from the clip, and an elongated indicator extending from the elongated riser to a distal end. Such a design allows for an inexpensive and lightweight inclination guide that may be easily and quickly adjusted after assembly.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SURGICALLY-PREPARING A PATIENT'S FEMUR

An orthopaedic joint replacement system is shown and described. The system includes a number of prosthetic components configured to be implanted into a patient's knee. The system also includes a number of surgical instruments configured for use in preparing the bones of the patient's knee to receive the implants. A method or technique for using the surgical instruments to prepare the bones is also disclosed.

SURGICAL MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT

Implants, systems, instruments, methods, and kits for metatarsophalangeal joint arthroplasty may include metatarsal arthroplasty implants, repositioning guides, broach tools, inserter tools, and sterilizable packaging configured to facilitate metatarsal arthroplasty surgical procedures. The metatarsal arthroplasty implants may generally include an articular member having a convex articular surface, a concave bone-facing surface opposite the convex articular surface, and at least one side surface intermediate the convex articular surface and the concave bone-facing surface, as well as a central shaft sized for insertion into a metatarsal bone having a central shaft longitudinal axis, a central shaft proximal end coupled to the concave bone-facing surface of the articular member, and a central shaft distal end extending away from the concave bone-facing surface of the articular member along the central shaft longitudinal axis.

Orthopedic leg alignment system and method

An orthopedic measurement system is disclosed to measure leg alignment. The measurement system includes a tri-axial gyroscope configured to measure movement of a leg. The gyroscope is coupled to a tibia of the leg. For example, the gyroscope can be placed in an insert or tibial prosthetic component that couples to the tibia. The gyroscope is used to measure alignment relative to the mechanical axis of the leg. The leg alignment measurement is performed by putting the leg through a first leg movement and a second leg movement. The gyroscope outputs angular velocities on the axes the sensor is rotated about. The gyroscope is coupled to a computer that calculates the alignment of the leg relative to the mechanical axis from the gyroscope measurement data.
