HIP REPLACEMENT NAVIGATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20210220152 · 2021-07-22 ·

Hip joint navigation systems and methods are provided. In some embodiments, the systems and methods described herein determine a table reference plane that approximates the Anterior Pelvic Plane. In some embodiments, the systems and methods described herein measure a pre-operative and post-operative point. In some embodiments, the comparison of the pre-operative and post-operative point corresponds to changes in leg length and joint offset. In some embodiments, the systems and methods described herein determine an Adjusted Plane. In some embodiments, the Adjusted Plane adjusts for tilt by rotating the Anterior Pelvic Plane about the inter-ASIS line. In some embodiments, the Adjusted Plane improves correlation between navigated cup angles and post-operative images.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF ARTHROSIS OR OSTEOARTHRITIS IN A JOINT OF A MAMMAL OR HUMAN PATIENT
20210177625 · 2021-06-17 ·

A proposed treatment of arthrosis/osteoarthritis in a joint of a mammal or human patient involves deposing a liquid material on at least one damaged surface of the joint. To accomplish this, a reservoir (110) is provided, which holds a volume of a biocompatible material in liquid form outside of a body containing the joint (J) to be treated. A proximal end (P) of a tub e-shaped instrument (120) is connected to the reservoir (110), and a distal end (D) of the instrument (120) is inserted into the joint (J). The liquid material is fed through the instrument (120) to the distal end (D) for deposition on the at least one damaged joint surface.

The material is configured to assume a solid form under predefined conditions (e.g. when cooling off, or being exposed to a specific type of radiation). When the material has the solid form, it has a resistance to wear adapted to replace a worn out joint surface.

DEVICE FOR SENSING IMPLANT LOCATION AND IMPINGEMENT

Embodiments of a system and method for assessing hip arthroplasty component movement are generally described herein. A method may include receiving data from a sensor embedded in a femoral head component, the femoral head component configured to fit in an acetabular component, determining information about a magnetic field from the data, and outputting an indication of an orientation, coverage, or a force of the femoral head component relative to the acetabular component.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ALIGNING HIP REPLACEMENT PROSTHESES

In one aspect, a system and method for aligning hip replacement prostheses comprises an acetabular liner having an inner concave surface and an outer convex surface. The acetabular liner includes at least two magnetic sensors arranged in a spatially distributed manner. The system and method also include a prosthetic femoral component comprising a femoral head component. The femoral head component and the acetabular liner component are shaped such that a ball and socket joint is formed when the femoral head component comes into contact with the inner concave surface of the acetabular liner. While the ball-and-socket joint is formed, and in at least some orientations of the femoral head component relative to the acetabular liner component, a contact point on an external surface of the femoral head component contacts the inner concave surface. The femoral head component includes at least one permanent magnet.

Femoral augments for use with knee joint prosthesis

A femoral augment, or set of augments, for use with a knee joint prosthesis, where the femoral augment includes a main body portion, an aperture formed within the main body portion and extending in a generally distal/proximal direction, and a pair of legs extending outwardly from said main body portion in a generally posterior direction. In the preferred embodiment, the aperture is configured to receive a stem extension implant, and to allow it to pass through. Additionally, the legs of the femoral augment are preferably configured to be seated proximal of a proximal side of a pair of condylar portions of a femoral component of a knee joint prosthesis. The present invention is intended for situations in which the distal portion of the femur is defective, and it provides a method and devices that allow for preservation of healthy peripheral bone, while still providing the necessary augmentation to the distal portion of the femur.
