PROSTHETIC WRIST
Prostheses include a terminal device, a back-lock mechanism, a wrist, a limb-socket, and a harness system. The terminal device can be a five-fingered mechanical hand that provides a releasable adaptive grasp, and has independently flexible fingers. The limb socket can be 3D printed using a molded model of a remnant limb. The harness strap can encircle an unaffected limb and is coupled to the terminal device with a cable so that a user can control the terminal device. The harness system can include a 3D printed harness ring that couples to the cable.

Quantitative Design And Manufacturing Framework For A Biomechanical Interface Contacting A Biological Body Segment
Devices and methods for obtaining external shapes and internal tissue geometries, as well as tissue behaviors, of a biological body segment are provided. A device for three-dimensional imaging of a biological body segment includes a structure configured to receive the biological body segment, the structure including a first array of imaging devices disposed about a perimeter of the device to capture side images of the biological body segment and a second array of imaging devices disposed at an end of the device to capture images of a distal portion of the biological body segment. The second array has a generally axial viewing angle relative to the perimeter. A controller is configured to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the biological body segment based on cross-correlation of captured images from the first and second arrays.
VARYING DENSITY OF A MODEL FOR MANUFACTURING A LINER
A system and method for method including receiving data representing coordinates of a shape of a body part, forming a model of a flexible inner liner based upon the received data, the flexible inner liner configured to be placed over the body part, receiving, as input, a thickness and an offset of the model of the flexible inner liner, assigning a default density to an internal structure of the model; and varying the default density of the model without changing an outer geometry of the model to create a modified model of the flexible inner liner.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A DATA MODEL OF A LIMB STUMP, SET, METHOD AND RETAINING STOCKING OR SENSOR ASSEMBLY
A medical apparatus for use in generating a data model of a limb stump is provided, wherein the apparatus includes at least a pressure vessel with a fluid chamber or a pressure chamber for receiving or storing a fluid, wherein the pressure vessel includes a wall made of a first material, wherein the wall limits an interior of the pressure vessel against an exterior, and wherein the pressure vessel includes an insertion opening for inserting the limb stump into the interior of the pressure vessel. The apparatus further includes a fluid-impermeable membrane made of a second material and arranged to form or limit the fluid chamber or the pressure chamber. Furthermore, the apparatus comprises an adherent stocking or another sensor arrangement, to be pulled over the limb stump, wherein the adherent stocking includes sensors for generating the data model.
COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AN ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for producing an orthopedic device. The method includes receiving at least one data set with patient data, processing the patient data in order to create a patient model, using the patient model to determine patient parameters, and generating a virtual representation of the orthopedic device while using the patient parameters and device parameters. The method further includes receiving at least one input from at least one user, modifying at least one of the patient parameters or device parameters on the basis of the input, and physically creating the orthopedic device.
Prosthetic limb socket with variable hardness
A system and method for producing a customized prosthetic socket based on a digital representation of a residual limb that is used to form a digital model of a prosthetic socket. The digital model is customized to alter its internal structure to produce differing areas of flexibility and support while maintaining the overall geometry of the model and without having to use different materials. The digital model is converted for use with a three-dimensional printing or manufacturing device and then used to print the customized socket.
Mechanical
A prosthetic appendage for attachment to an outer extremity of an amputated limb that is composed of modular elements fabricated by three-dimensional printing. In one embodiment the prosthetic appendage is a leg. The prosthetic leg includes a foot portion and a plurality of modular and three-dimensionally printed limb elements. One of the plurality of limb elements is pivotally coupled to the foot portion and another of the limb elements is configured at one end to receive the outer extremity of the amputated leg. In another embodiment of the present invention the prosthetic appendage is a hand. The prosthetic hand includes a wrist element with one end configured to receive the outer extremity of an amputated hand, a base portion attached to the wrist element and a plurality of modular and three-dimensionally printed finger elements selectively coupled to adjacent finger elements or the base to form prosthetic fingers.
Digital to definitive orthotic and prosthetic device manufacturing system and method
Systems and methods for creating custom-fit prosthetic devices, orthotic devices, and related medical devices via three-dimensional printing (3D printing) or additive manufacturing techniques are described. Through the described systems and methods, a residual limb or other body part of a patient is scanned and analyzed to determine measurements and characteristics of the residual limb. The measurements and characteristics of the residual limb are used to design a customized device for the residual limb. The customized device uses multiple different materials. For example, the customized device may use a first material for a frame and a second material for a liner, wherein the first material is more rigid than the second material. The customized device is fabricated using a three-dimensional printer that is capable of printing and bonding multiple different materials at the same time.
