Method and apparatus for a passive knee joint
An artificial knee is configured to be worn by a person. Artificial knees include a thigh link configured to move in unison with a thigh of the person, and a shank link configured to be coupled to the thigh link. Artificial knees include a compression spring coupled to the thigh link at a first end of the compression spring, the compression spring configured to be coupled to the shank link at a second end of the compression spring. The compression spring is configured to provide an extension torque between the thigh link and the shank link during a first range of motion of the thigh link and the shank link relative to each other. The compression spring is configured to provide a flexion torque between the thigh link and the shank link during a second range of motion of the thigh link and the shank link relative to each other.
VARIABLE TRANSMISSION FOR ASSISTIVE PROSTHESIS DEVICE
The present disclosure describes transmission systems for use in artificial joints of assistive devices, such as assistive prostheses, orthoses, and powered exoskeletons. A variable transmission is configured to automatically or manually adapt the torque profile to the demand of different locomotion tasks, such as a relatively high torque and low speed profile for a task such as standing up or ascending stairs, or a relatively low torque and high speed profile for a task such as walking.
PROSTHETIC KNEE JOINT
A prosthetic knee joint includes a lower leg connecting part, a thigh connecting part, a linkage assembly and a biasing unit. The lower leg connecting part has first anterior and posterior link portions. The first posterior link portion has a slidable pivot shaft. The thigh connecting part has second anterior and second posterior link portions. The linkage assembly includes an anterior link pivotably connected between the first and second anterior link portions, and a posterior link pivotably connected between the first and second posterior link portions. The posterior link has a pivot linkage elongated to have upper and lower slot end sections. The slidable pivot shaft is slidably and rotatably engaged in the pivot linkage. The biasing unit abuts against the posterior link to bias upwardly the posterior link so as to urge the lower slot end section to engage with the slidable pivot shaft.
Polycentric knee joint having an adjustment-free multi-stage air cylinder
A polycentric knee joint including an adjustment-free multi-stage prosthesis air cylinder. The air cylinder has an air cylinder body, a piston assembly slidably mounted on the air cylinder body, a first check valve mounted in the piston, and a multi-stage air pressure valve mounted inside a lower air way of the air cylinder body. The multi-stage air pressure valve automatically cushions movements of the piston assembly without being adjusted whenever a user of the prosthesis joint walks slowly or quickly, for improved comfort.
Prosthetic leg knee joint, braking device, and load position detector
A prosthetic leg knee joint includes a thigh connection part that is provided on the thigh side, a lower leg part that is provided rotatably around a knee shaft connected to the thigh connection part, a four-bar link mechanism that sets an instant center S whose relative position with respect to the thigh connection part is substantially constant regardless of the relative position between the thigh connection part and the lower leg part, and a braking unit that brakes the movement of the lower leg part in accordance with the relative position between the instance center S set by the four-bar link mechanism and the lower leg part.
Prosthetic knee joint
A prosthetic knee joint includes an upper part, a lower part which is arranged pivotably to the upper part, a fastening device arranged on the upper part for a proximal prosthetic element, a fastening device arranged on the lower part for a distal prosthetic element, a four-limbed joint system with four linkages articulatedly fastened to each other, which are each pivotable to each other around a pivot axis, wherein the upper part is arranged on the joint system. The joint system may be mounted pivotably on the lower part from a starting position counter to a spring force during a stance phase flexion, and the action line of the spring force may be aligned such that a moment acting against an inflexion of the joint system is present.
Knee joint structure
A knee joint structure includes a knee joint head portion, a knee-joint body portion, and at least one curved plate. The knee joint head portion includes a position-returning device made up of a piston, an elastic body, and an adjustment cap and a transmission axle. The transmission axle includes a push-bar axle, which is pivotally coupled to a push bar operable to drive and move the piston. The knee-joint body portion includes a connection rod pivotally connected to the knee joint head portion. The curved plate connects the transmission axle and the knee joint body portion.
PROSTHETIC DEVICE
The invention relates to a prosthetic device for a lower extremity having a prosthetic knee joint having: an upper part, on which a proximal prosthetic component is arranged; a lower part, which is connected to the upper part so as to be pivotable about a knee joint axis; and a distal prosthetic component, on which a prosthetic foot is formed or can be attached, wherein the distal prosthetic component is mounted so as to be displaceable in the direction of the knee joint axis by means of an axial force acting in the longitudinal extent of the distal prosthetic component and a force transmission device is associated with the knee joint, which force transmission device, during the standing phase, converts a displacement or length change of the distal prosthetic component in the direction of the knee joint axis into a flexion moment about the knee joint axis.
MULTI-ARTICULATED LINK KNEE JOINT
A multi-articulated link knee joint includes: a knee unit in which an upper link unit rotates relative to a lower link unit by a multi-articulated link mechanism including a plurality of link units including the upper link unit and the lower link unit; a relative position detector for detecting a relative position of the upper link unit relative to the lower link unit; and an angle detector for obtaining a bending angle of the knee unit from the detected relative position.
