Modular supportive spinal brace
11278441 · 2022-03-22 ·

A supportive spinal brace easily configurable to support disabled or injured and various chosen postures. The spinal brace comprises a plurality of rotatably interlocking components (101). The rotatably interlocking components are able to interlock together line at various user configurable rotational offsets to form a user configurable supportive undulation along the length of the brace. In an embodiment, the rotatably interlocking components define portions which interlock together at medial side (104, 105) thereof and at lateral sides (106) thereof with laterally adjacent plates (108), thereby supporting each interlocking portion at both medial and lateral sides thereof for enhanced structural integrity of the brace.

Wearable apparatuses, methods, and systems for diagnosis, analysis, therapy and other uses

A wearable neck brace uses, for example, only three actuators but provides natural motion of the head and neck. This is achieved despite the fact that the head has six degrees of freedom including 3 translation and 3 rotation. In embodiments, a wearable neck brace actively controls the head of the wearer responsively to commands from a user interface such as an eye tracking input device. In further embodiments, a force-field is generated by actuators to provide assistance and/or training for weak muscles. Spring compensation may be provided for a passive support with flexibility. Encoders may be provided to generate treatment logs to support analysis of a patient's condition or progress or to provide therapy-facilitating (or athletic training-facilitating) feedback to the user.

A neck extension support and stabilizing device which may support the head, includes a harness configured to be worn on a user torso and a neck bracing member having an elongated stem for attachment to the harness, and a support portion configured to contact the base of the user skull. The neck bracing member is flexibly resilient to allow for and resist neck extension.

Force distribution method and apparatus for neonates at risk of cranial molding

A force distribution apparatus and method are presented. Various embodiments of the disclosed apparatus include a plurality of layers configured and oriented to be deployed on a subject in a manner that disperses forces and lowers peak pressures experienced by the subject when resting on a surface, which tends to minimize risks of deformation and local ischemia. An innovative combination of novel construction methods and material selections produce an apparatus that possesses an inherent three-dimensional shape despite being built from essentially flat components, while also retaining an ability to effectively distribute forces and reduce pressures.

Pediatric head covering for use with three-dimensional imaging

A pediatric head covering to facilitate obtaining three-dimensional images of a head of an infant to be utilized in manufacture of a cranial remodeling orthosis for correction of an abnormal head shape comprises sheer elastic material to be drawn down over an infant's head to compress the hair of an infant and to provide a smooth surface over the infant's cranium. The elastic material has variable elasticity with less elasticity over the crown of the cranium to provide enough strength to compress the infant's hair and conform to the shape of the cranium and more elasticity at the infant's neck to control soft tissue of the infant's neck without leading to distortion of the soft tissue and causing misrepresentations of the actual neck shape in captured three-dimensional images. The head covering facilitates accurate capture and reproduction of three-dimensional images of the infant's head by a three-dimensional image capturing system. The head covering is sized based upon anthropometric data derived from three-dimensional data sets of infant heads.
