A disposable absorbent article may include a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a leg gasketing system. The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff. The inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff folded edge and an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded laterally inward to form the outer cuff folded edge and folded laterally outward to form the inner cuff folded edge.

A nonwoven fabric for an outer sheet of an absorbent article has a liquid-impermeable sheet having moisture vapor permeability, the nonwoven fabric having a thickness direction and a planar direction, and a first surface and a second surface, the nonwoven fabric including thermoplastic resin fibers, and cellulosic fibers that are cellulosic fibers of which at least a portion form a plurality of fiber masses, the nonwoven fabric comprising a plurality of gaps that are adjacent to first regions of each of the plurality of fiber masses that are facing the first surface, wherein each of the plurality of fiber masses are not joined with the thermoplastic resin fibers.

A disposable absorbent article may include a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a leg gasketing system. The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff. The inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff folded edge and an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded laterally inward to form the outer cuff folded edge and folded laterally outward to form the inner cuff folded edge.

There is provided an absorbent article with its front-surface sheet composed of cotton fibers by which liquid reversion is prevented and water retention on the front-surface sheet is minimized. An incontinence pad 1 is provided that is configured to absorb urine at medium or more volume that is 20 cc or more. A front-surface sheet 3 is formed of a spunlace nonwoven fabric 100 wt % of which is composed of cotton fibers and which is coated with a water repellent agent, and has, at least at a portion corresponding to an excreting hole, numerous front-face/back-face penetrating openings 10 that are longer shaped in the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1. The cotton fibers form numerous longitudinal streaks 11 and numerous lateral streaks 12, the longitudinal streaks extending along the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1 and being formed with an interval in the width direction of the incontinence pad 1, and the lateral streaks extending along the width direction of the incontinence pad 1 and connecting together the longitudinal streaks formed with an interval in the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1. The openings 10 are formed within portions surrounded by the longitudinal streaks 11 and the lateral streaks 12. The longitudinal streaks 11 have more fibers and are formed at a higher density than the lateral streaks 12.

An apparatus for keeping dry a portion of a person's skin, including a belt portion having an outer side and an inner side, configured for placement of the inner side against an abdominal area of a person's body to prevent water from passing between the inner side and the abdominal area, and also including a body portion configured to cover at least a portion of the abdominal area. The body portion may include a body top end forming a first opening sized to receive a portion of the abdominal area, and include a body bottom end having at least one second opening sized to receive a portion of the person's body, and a body middle connecting the body top end and the body bottom end. Also, a method for keeping dry a target portion of a person's skin using an apparatus having a belt portion and a body portion.

To provide a user-friendly disposable article including a disposable base fabric provided with at least one of a permeable sheet and a fiber sheet, and multiple elastic members that are joined to at least one of the permeable sheet and the fiber sheet so as to have a joined part and a non-joined part; and a joining part for joining the disposable base fabric and an article to be attached so that the multiple elastic members give an elastic force to a surface to be applied to the skin, arranging the disposable base fabric on the surface side for applying to the skin.

An absorbent article has a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; first and second opposing longitudinal side edges, a front waist region and a back waist region; and a first and second back ear extending outwardly from the first and longitudinal side edges in the back waist region, respectively. The first and second back ears have an engineering strain greater than about 8% at about or below 2N of force when measured according to the Back Ear Extension Test, and a roughness Ra lower than about 300 ?m when measured according to the Roughness Test.

An absorbent article has a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; first and second opposing longitudinal side edges, a front waist region and a back waist region; and a first and second back ear extending outwardly from the first and longitudinal side edges in the back waist region, respectively. The first and second back ears have an engineering strain greater than about 8% at about or below 2N of force when measured according to the Back Ear Extension Test, and a roughness Ra lower than about 300 ?m when measured according to the Roughness Test.

Disclosed is an absorbent article including a water permeable topsheet, a water impermeable backsheet, an absorbent core, an outer cover layer, and a pair of outer cuffs for providing leg gasketing function, wherein the pair of outer cuffs includes a cuff sealing disposed in a longitudinally extending manner, the cuff sealing located transversely between the absorbent core and the longitudinal side edge of the backsheet.

An absorbent article includes a liquid permeable top sheet, a liquid impermeable back sheet, an absorbent core being arranged between the top sheet and the back sheet, and an acquisition and distribution layer (ADL) of a nonwoven material being arranged between the top sheet and the absorbent core. The nonwoven material has a basis weight of 20-40 g/m.sup.2, 3-20 through holes per cm.sup.2, the holes having a diameter in CD and MD of 1-3 mm, and at least 70% by weight of the nonwoven ADL includes fibers having a fiber diameter of 12-22 m.
