The present invention relates generally to absorbent products, and, more particularly, to disposable absorbent articles that provide improvements in the containment of bodily fluid secretions. The fluid containment improvements are the result of adding gasketing barriers to standing leg cuffs of various absorbent articles. Adding gasketing barriers to the standing leg cuffs will decrease fluid leakage at the leg and crotch area of the user and will improve the comfort of the user.

The present invention discloses a nonwoven web and methods for manufacturing the nonwoven web. The present invention specifically discloses a nonwoven web that includes a co-forming process wherein a first gas stream includes meltblown fibers that are extruded from a first die head, a second gas stream that includes spunblown fibers that are extruded from a second die head and a third die head that includes pulp fibers that are extruded from a pulp nozzle. By sandwiching spunblown fibers between meltblown fibers during the co-forming processes, a nonwoven web having improved cross-machine direction tensile strength is formed.

The absorbent article exhibits a third dose acquisition time of less than 10 seconds, more preferably less than 8 seconds, and most preferably less than 7 seconds, and a Rewet of no greater than 0.40 g, more preferably less than about 0.3 grams, or most preferably less than about 0.2 grams.

The integrated nonwoven fluid management layer has a basis weight in a range of from 40 gsm to 75 gsm as determined by the Basis Weight method, 10 percent to about 60 percent by weight of absorbent fibers, from between about 15 percent to about 70 percent of resilient fibers, and from between about 25 percent to about 70 percent stiffening fibers as determined by the Material Composition Analysis. The absorbent article exhibits an average acquisition speed in a first gush of between about 10 seconds to about 40 seconds, when measured in accordance with the Repetitive Acquisition and Rewet method.
