Medical device
The present invention relates to a medical device, particularly a vascular graft or an arteriovenous (AV) graft for haemodialysis. The medical device comprises a layer of porous silk fibroin matrix and a layer of knitted silk fibers. The invention further relates to processes of manufacture of such medical devices and methods of use of such devices.
Durable absorbent pant
A durable absorbent pant is disclosed. The pant includes a crotch portion with a crotch gusset including an absorbent assembly. The crotch gusset may be configured to exhibit a maximum Longitudinal Elongation of 25 percent to 100 percent and a Longitudinal Tensile Modulus of 10 gf/mm to 100 gf/mm. The described stretch characteristics provide a pant with improved body conformity for improved containment of fluids (such as urine) discharged by the wearer.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE FORMULATIONS FOR FIBROUS SUBSTRATES
The present invention discloses novel hot melt adhesive formulations which exhibit an exceptionally good adhesion on fibrous substrates, both woven and non-woven ones. Furthermore the present adhesives exhibit an adhesion on said substrates which continues to be surprisingly high even when those fibrous substrates are made of very hydrophilic fibres, as cotton and other similar vegetable fibres, and even when said hydrophilic fibers, during their use e.g. inside a hygienic absorbent article, contact water and absorb large amounts of water or of other aqueous fluids, e.g. urine or blood, with an ensuing relevant swelling of the same fibres, said relevant swelling being capable of strongly weakening and even of destroying and mechanically breaking the adhesive bond, already formed under dry conditions.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH EMBOSSED SURFACE LAYER
The absorbent article as disclosed herein has longitudinal side edges extending in a longitudinal direction and transverse front and rear end edges extending in a transverse direction. The absorbent article includes a fluid permeable surface layer and a backsheet. The fluid permeable surface layer is an embossed surface layer including an embossing pattern covering from 3% to 20% of the total surface area of said surface layer. The surface layer is an air-through-bonded fibrous nonwoven surface layer comprising synthetic fibers and has a basis weight of from 14 to 30 g/m2.
