FEMININE HYGIENE ARTICLES AND FILM WITH IMPROVED SOFTNESS AND HAND FEEL

A feminine hygiene article comprising a film having at least a first layer and an optional second layer, the first layer comprising at least 25 wt. %, based on the total weight of the first layer, of an ethylene acrylate copolymer and less than 75 wt. %, based on the total weight of the first layer, of a polyolefin is disclosed. The first layer may have a gloss measured by ASTM D2457 at 45? C. below 30% and a drapeability measured according to WSP 90.3 less than or equal to 10.0 gf in both the machine or cross direction. The ethylene acrylate copolymer may contain from 16-35 wt. %, based on the total weight of the ethylene acrylate copolymer, acrylate. A feminine hygiene article comprising a soft film of non plastic appearance but with high tensile strength, low elongation along with high tear and puncture resistance, and high modulus can thus be obtained.

Patterned Apertured Webs

A patterned apertured web is disclosed. The patterned apertured web includes a plurality of land areas in the patterned apertured web and a plurality of apertures defined in the patterned apertured web. At least some land areas of the plurality of land areas surround at least some apertures of the plurality of apertures. The patterned apertured web has an Effective Open Area in the range of about 3% to about 30%, according to the Aperture Test herein. The patterned apertured web has a plurality of Interaperture Distances, according to the Aperture Test herein. The Interaperture Distances have a distribution having a median and a mean, wherein the mean is different than the median. The plurality of apertures include a first set of apertures defining a first shape and a second set of apertures defining a second shape. The first shape is positioned within the second shape.

Fluid distribution material for absorbent articles

A fluid distribution material for an absorbent article includes a formed film that includes a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side includes a plurality of elongated ridges extending from a first land area, a plurality of valleys defined by adjacent elongated ridges and the first land area, and a plurality of primary apertures located at bottoms of the valleys. The second side includes a plurality of apertured protuberances extending from a second land area. Each of the protuberances includes a continuous sidewall extending from the second land area to a distal end that includes a secondary aperture substantially aligned with a primary aperture. The formed film has a thickness greater than about 0.9 mm under a pressure of 0.071 psi, and a thickness greater than about 0.3 mm under a pressure of 0.6 psi.

PRE-STRAINED LAMINATES AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME

Patterned apertured webs are provided. The patterned apertured webs include a plurality of land areas and a plurality of apertures defined in the patterned apertured webs. At least some land areas of the plurality of land areas surround at least some apertures of the plurality of apertures. The patterned apertured webs have an Effective Open Area in the range of about 3% to about 30%, according to the Aperture Test.

TOPSHEET COMPRISING NATURAL FIBERS WITH GOOD MECHANICAL STRENGTH
20190231612 · 2019-08-01 ·

A topsheet for use with an absorbent article is provided and comprises a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is a spunlace nonwoven and comprises at least 15% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer. The first layer comprises a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of apertures. The first layer and the second layer are in contact with each other between the plurality of the protrusions. The second layer has a plurality of apertures at least partially aligned with the apertures of the first layer. The first layer has a minimum CD strength of at least 3N/(5 cm), according to the Tensile Strength Test Method.

Pre-strained laminates and methods for making the same

A method of forming a three-dimensional laminate for an absorbent article is provided. The method comprises providing a first nonwoven layer, providing a second nonwoven layer, and applying a pre-strain force to the first nonwoven layer or to the second nonwoven layer. The method comprises joining the first nonwoven layer to the second nonwoven layer while the first nonwoven layer or the second nonwoven layer is in a pre-strained condition, and releasing the pre-strain force to form the three-dimensional laminate.

Pre-strained laminates and methods for making the same

A laminate comprising a first nonwoven layer comprising a plurality of apertures and a second nonwoven layer is provided. One of the first and second nonwoven layers is a pre-strained layer and is joined to the other one of the first and second nonwoven layers. The other one of the first and second nonwoven layers is a non-pre-strained layer. The pre-strained layer and the non-pre-strained layer together form a three-dimensional laminate.

PATTERNED APERTURED WEBS AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME

A disposable absorbent article having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed therebetween is described herein. The topsheet includes an array of apertures and a first array of structures which are disposed adjacent the array of apertures. A first plurality of the array of apertures is disposed generally parallel to a longitudinal axis, a second plurality of apertures has a first Absolute Feret angle, and a third plurality of apertures has a second Absolute Feret angle. The first Absolute Feret angle is different than the second Absolute Feret angle.

ABSORBENT ARTICLE

An absorbent article includes a topsheet comprising a composite sheet. In the composite sheet, projections that protrude toward the skin of the wearer are formed by a first sheet protruding in a direction away from a second sheet at portions other than bonding portions. A plurality of first oblique bonding portion rows and a plurality of second oblique bonding portion rows are formed, and a long bonding portion elongated in a longitudinal direction is formed at each intersection of the first oblique bonding portion rows and the second oblique bonding portion rows. Laterally long projections elongated in a width direction are formed in a dispersed manner in the longitudinal direction and the width direction.
