ABSORBENT ARTICLES WITH COMPONENTS FOR A UNIFORM APPEARANCE
A taped absorbent article is provided. The taped absorbent article includes a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core positioned at least partially intermediate the topsheet and the backsheet, and an outer cover nonwoven material joined to the backsheet. The outer cover nonwoven material comprises a first mechanical bond pattern. The taped absorbent article includes a discrete ear laminate joined to the chassis. The discrete ear laminate includes a first nonwoven material having a garment-facing surface, a second nonwoven material having a wearer-facing surface, a plurality of ultrasonic bonds, and an elastic member positioned at least partially intermediate the first and second nonwoven materials. The garment-facing surface of the first nonwoven material comprises a second mechanical bond pattern. The first and second mechanical bond patterns are substantially the same. The outer cover nonwoven material is substantially the same as, or the same as, the first nonwoven material.
Absorbent article with improved core-to-backsheet adhesive
An absorbent article for personal hygiene comprising: a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core, the backsheet comprising a plastic film having a longitudinal tear strength measured in N/cm; the absorbent core being partially attached to the plastic film of the backsheet by a first glue wherein at least a continuous area of 10 mm in longitudinal direction and 25 mm in transversal direction of the bottom side of the core is unattached to the backsheet by the first glue or by any other means of attachment. In the first glue application area, the absorbent article has a core-to-backsheet peel strength measured in N/cm, such that the core-to-backsheet peel strength ranges from 10% to 40% of the longitudinal tear strength of the plastic film.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE HAVING WAIST GASKETING ELEMENT
An absorbent article for wearing about the lower torso of a wearer includes a first waist region having a first waist edge, a second waist region having a second waist edge, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions. The article further includes a chassis having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet. A waist gasketing element is joined to the chassis and disposed in one of the first waist region or the second waist region. The waist gasketing element has a top layer and a bottom layer, and first area, A1. The top layer is bonded to the bottom layer in a closure bond region by a closure bonding technique. The closure bond region has an aggregate closure bond area, BA, which is less than 60% of the first area, A1.

A sanitary napkin for women includes a permeable inner sheet, which comes into contact with the skin of a wearer to thus allow secretions to pass therethrough, an outer sheet fused to the inner sheet, and an absorption pad disposed between the inner sheet and the outer sheet to absorb the secretions passed through the inner sheet, the outer sheet being a nanolaminate film composed of a nanomembrane formed by electrospinning a polymer solution and a strength-reinforcing nonwoven fabric laminated on one side of the nanomembrane.
LAMINATE FOR AN ABSORBENT ARTICLE, ABSORBENT ARTICLE COMPRISING SAID LAMINATE AND PROCESS FOR MAKING SUCH LAMINATE
The current invention concerns a laminate (2) for an absorbent article, preferably to be used as the backsheet of said absorbent article, said laminate (2) comprising: a first layer (4) comprising a fibrous material such as a nonwoven material; a second layer (6) comprising a film; a third layer (8) comprising an adhesive; the third layer (8) being arranged between the first (4) and second (6) layer; wherein the adhesive in the third layer (8) is applied in a pattern, said pattern comprising: a first sub-pattern (10) comprising a frame (12) following the perimeter of the laminate (2) and defining an inner surface, said first sub-pattern (10) comprising a first amount of adhesive; a second sub-pattern (14) arranged within the inner surface of the frame (12), said second sub-pattern (14) comprising a second amount of adhesive, the second amount of adhesive being less than the first amount of adhesive. The invention also concerns an absorbent article comprising such laminate and a process for manufacturing such laminate.
Process for stretching a film web
The invention relates to a process for the stretching of a starting film web of thermoplastic polymer material, which comprises at least one low-melting polymer component and at least one high-melting polymer component, the process comprising at least the following steps: heating of the starting film web to an at least partly molten state in which the at least one low-melting polymer component exists in a molten liquid state and the at least one high-melting polymer component does not exist in the molten liquid state, by at least one heating roller and cooling down by passing the partly molten film web through a cooled roller nip, the film being stretched between the at least one heating roller and the cooled roller nip. The films produced may be laminated together with a non-woven fabric.
ABSORBENT COMPOSITES
Absorbent composites are provided that include a nonwoven top layer having hydrophilic fibers and an absorbent core layer directly or indirectly attached to the nonwoven top layer, wherein the absorbent core layer comprises a through-air-bonded nonwoven. The absorbent composites may include a combination of (i) a composite-run-off value of less than 50% as determined by ISO 9073-11, (ii) a composite-absorption capacity of at least 600% as determined by ISO 9073, and (iii) a composite-rate of absorption of less than 10 seconds for a 5 ml liquid sample as determined by D824-94. The absorbent composites may include an optional film layer attached to the absorbent core layer.
ELASTOMERIC FILMS HAVING LOW TEAR PROPAGATION
Multilayer thermoplastic films, and laminates and articles comprising the films, wherein the film comprises at least one inner layer and at least two outer layers, wherein the inner layer comprises a polymeric composition comprising from about 55% to about 95% of one or more non-hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers, olefinic block copolymers, or combinations thereo; and each outer layer comprises at least 20% polypropylene and has a thickness of from about 5% to about 15% of the total film thickness, and further wherein the film has a constant force tear propagation of about 20% or less.
Stiff nanocomposite film for use in an absorbent article
A thin nanocomposite film for use in an absorbent article (e.g., sanitary napkin) is provided. The film contains a first ethylene polymer having a density of about 0.94 g/cm3 or less, second ethylene polymer having a density of greater than 0.94 g/cm3, and nanoclay having an organic surface treatment. The present inventors have discovered that through selective control over the particular type and concentration of the components used to form the film, as well as the manner in which it is formed, the properties of the film can be significantly improved.
ARTIFICIAL TURF FILAMENT AND ARTICLES INCORPORATING SAME
Artificial turf filaments formed from polyethylene are provided that can have desirable properties. In one aspect, an artificial turf filament comprises a composition comprising a first composition, wherein the first composition comprises at least one ethylene-based polymer and wherein the first composition comprises a MWCDI value greater than 0.9, and a melt index ratio (I10/I2) that meets the following equation: I10/I27.01.2log (I2).
