METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR ALTERING PORTIONS OF SUBSTRATES WITH VIBRATION ENERGY
A method of altering a portion of a substrate may include providing a first device and a second device with a nip therebetween. The second device may comprise a stationary or rotating source of vibration energy. When conveyed through the nip, the substrate may be exposed to the vibration energy and the portion thereof may be altered. Thermal energy may be applied to the portion of the substrate upstream of the nip to raise a temperature of the portion of the substrate to a temperature below a melting temperature thereof. A substrate spreader may contact the substrate upstream of the nip to mitigate fold over or wrinkles in the substrate. When the first device is a rotating anvil and the second device comprises a rotating source of vibration energy, the surface velocities thereof may be variable and may be the same or different.

A sensor system for detecting a property of or within an absorbent article may comprise an absorbent article and a sensor. The absorbent article may comprise a garment-facing layer and an absorbent assembly. The sensor may be disposed in and/or on the absorbent article. A retention device (10) includes a continuous base (12) having an upper face (12A) and a lower face (12B) and extending in a longitudinal direction and a plurality of retention elements (16) extending from the upper face (12A) of the base (12), each retention element (16) including a rod (18). ABSORBENT ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
Absorbent article comprising a layered structure with an absorbent material sandwiched between at least two layers of said layered structure, such as for example a diaper, and at least one elongate tab. Each elongate tab comprises an attached portion by which the tab is permanently attached to at least one layer of the layered structure and a fastening portion with hooks provided for releasably engaging a landing zone on the absorbent article. At least the attached portion and the fastening portion of each tab are made of a predetermined material which is deformable by means of an energy source. The attached portion comprises a weld, and the weld of the attached portion and the hooks of the fastening portion are integrally formed deformations of said predetermined material. Method for manufacturing such article, wherein the weld and the hooks are formed simultaneously.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES WITH FRANGIBLE PATHWAYS AND CONCEALED DISPOSAL FASTENER COMPONENTS
The present disclosure relates to absorbent articles comprising a first belt and a second belt, comprising one or more frangible pathways. A fastener component may be positioned on the inner wearer facing surface of the first belt and/or second belt, and an accessibility opening in the first belt and/or the second belt may be positioned adjacent the fastener component and the inner edge of the first belt and/or the second belt. Positioning fastener components on the inner wearing facing surface of the first belt and/or the second belt helps to conceal the fastener component from the wearer while wearing the diaper pant. Positioning the accessibility opening adjacent the fastener component may help a caregiver successfully determine the location of and access such hidden disposal fastener components. An absorbent article may also comprise opening facilitation features to help a user to successfully determine the location and/or function of the fastener component.
Adhesive Tape Assemblies
Various fastener tape assemblies are described, which may be used in the manufacture of disposable articles, and particularly disposable articles. The fastener tape assemblies comprise a fastening component and a connecting component. The connecting component further comprises an extension component and a bonding component. The fastener tape assemblies provide a new folding configuration. In some embodiments, be essentially free of adhesive. In other embodiments, the face of the extension component may be at least partially covered by an adhesive. Also described are disposable articles utilizing the fastener tape assemblies the face of the extension component may described herein.

Each elongate tab comprises an attached portion by which the tab is attached to a first layer of the layered structure and a fastening portion provided for releasably engaging a landing zone on the absorbent article. Each tab is made of a predetermined material which is deformable by an energy source. The attached portion comprises a plurality of surface protrusions integrally formed of said material, each of said surface protrusions comprising a base portion and a head portion above the base portion. The attached portion is attached to said layer by deformed head portions of at least some of said surface protrusions. In a method for manufacturing such article, the attachment involves deforming head portions of the surface protrusions
