Automated caregiving device with prompting based on caregiver progress
A device for assisting a caregiver in delivering therapy to a patient, the device comprising a user interface configured to deliver prompts to a caregiver to assist the caregiver in delivering therapy to a patient; at least one sensor configured to detect the caregiver's progress in delivering the therapy, wherein the sensor is other than an electrode in an electrical contact with the body; a memory in which a plurality of different prompts are stored; a processor configured to determine which of the different prompts should be selected for delivery based on the progress detected by the sensor.
MODIFIED JAW THRUST APPLIANCE
A jaw thrust appliance is disclosed. The jaw thrust appliance includes an adjustable slidable bottom movably attached to the bottom portion of the inverted U-shaped base, and an ergonomic thumb piece disposed directly underneath the adjustable slidable bottom, the adjustable slidable bottom and the ergonomic thumb piece are attached together and move as a single unit when pushed horizontally. The inverted U-shaped base includes a flat elongated front facing, a padded back facing, a plurality of raised inverted U-shaped belt loops, and an indicia. The flat elongated front facing is adapted to be curved inward to accommodate the shape of a user's face. The jaw thrust appliance also includes an ergonomic thumb piece disposed directly underneath the adjustable slidable bottom.
SUBJECT AND SURGICAL EQUIPMENT MONITORING SYSTEMS
A surgical monitoring system including a machine vision sensor, an electronic controller communicatively coupled to the machine vision sensor, the electronic controller including a processor and a memory storing a computer readable instruction set, where, when the computer readable instruction set is executed by the processor, the electronic controller, detects a position of a subject with the machine vision sensor, detects a position of a person support apparatus, compares the detected position of the subject with the detected position of the person support apparatus, and determines if the detected position of the subject and the detected position of the person support apparatus indicates that the subject is not aligned with the person support apparatus.
Therapeutic Device for the Relief of Coughing Symptoms
A support device for the non-invasive draining of mucus to provide therapeutic relief from coughing symptoms, particularly in those whose natural exhalation and natural coughing ability are impaired, and a method for its use is disclosed. The device being low-cost enough to be suitable for either in-home or disposable clinical use. Also disclosed is the ability to incorporate the device into an automated positioning system, which would allow a user to increase alignment resolution and repeatability.
Articulating Chin Rest Assembly
An articulated chin rest is assembly is provided for supporting the chin of a patient under monitored anesthesia care, sedation, general anesthesia, or other medical procedure to ensure that their airway is unobscured. The assembly may comprise a clamp adaptable to grip a variety of structures, a first and a second length of rigid material sequentially and rotatably connected to the clamp, and a chin rest finally rotatably connected to the second length of rigid material. Means for rotatably linking the clamp, first and second lengths of rigid material, and chin rest allow each element to rotate in three dimensional space so that the assembly mechanically mimics, and is ultimately usable in place of, an anesthesiologist's hand for tilting the patient's head and securely supporting the patient's chin.
Sleep apnea detection and mitigation device
Sleep apnea detection and mitigation equipment that uses a face mask connected to a pillow with an embedded device is described. The embedded device has an air inlet assembly to pull in air from the environment, an exhaust assembly to release air to the environment, a control circuit, and an oxygen tank with a regulator. The inlet assembly releases filtered air into the face mask through an air tube and the exhaust assembly pulls contaminated air from the interior of the face mask through another air tube. Airflow sensors within the path of the airflow are used to measure the real time airflow data. The control circuit uses the measured real time airflow data to detect sleep apnea. The control circuit also reshapes the pillow to mitigate the apnea.
Apparatus and method for facilitating or enhancing a person's breathing
An apparatus and method for facilitating or enhancing a person's breathing. The method provides for supporting the person's shoulders and elevating the person's spine, so as to enable the person's body weight to be distributed in the person's shoulders, expanding the person's chest cavity to enhance oxygen intake. The apparatus is especially adapted to perform the functions of the method.
PRONE FACE PILLOW
In some implementations, a prone face pillow may include a body having a top surface, a bottom surface, a right-side surface, a left-side surface, and an internal cavity being open at the top surface and the bottom surface. In addition, the prone face pillow may include a right-side intubation tube channel having a non-horizontal pathway and a left-side intubation tube channel having a non-horizontal pathway. Moreover, the prone face pillow may a right-side slot and a left-side slot each configured to allow insertion of an intubation tube into the left-side channel. Also, the prone face pillow may include a right-side perforation pattern and a left-side perforation pattern, where the right-side or left-side perforation pattern must be broken prior to insertion of the intubation tube.
PERSON SUPPORT APPARATUSES INCLUDING INTUBATION ASSISTANCE DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Intubation assistance devices, person support surfaces including intubation assistance devices, and person support apparatus including the same are disclosed herein. A person support surface includes a support body and an intubation assistance device positionable within the support body. The intubation assistance device is positionable between a first position and a second position relative to the support body to adjust a position of shoulders of a person positioned on an upper surface of the support body. Other embodiments of intubation assistance devices include an elevated platform moveable relative to a lower plate to raise the shoulders of a person positioned atop a person support surface, and a pivot plate pivotally coupled to the lower plate to support a head of the person as the shoulders are raised.
MENTUM SECUREMENT DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A mentum securement device and method of using the same for securement of a mentum of a patient at an angle such that obstruction of an airway of the patient is prevented. The mentum device includes a mentum strap and a pair of securement straps. The mentum strap is configured to be positioned on a mentum of a patient undergoing anesthesia. The pair of securement straps are attached to distal portions of the mentum strap and have a distal portion securable to a respective anchor point. The mentum securement device is configured to position the mentum in an extended state where the mentum is at an extended angle relative to a neck of the patient.
