COVERING ASSEMBLY WITH COAGULANT COMPARTMENT AND USES THEREOF IN A BLOOD MONITORING/MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Disclosed is a covering/lid assembly having a first compartment, a second compartment, or both. Each compartment will comprise a top side and a bottom side, the bottom side of the compartment comprising a frangible material. The first or second compartment may comprise a first material or a second material. The first or second material may comprise a flocculated red blood cell coagulant, or a red blood cell flocculent. The material within a compartment may be selectively released upon compressing a dimple and/or button located directly above the first and/or second compartment. A collection and/or biological waste management and disposal system is presented, comprising a lid/covering assembly as described and a collection container. The lid may include a perimeter having a threaded and/or snap-on assembly suitable for securely attaching the lid to a collection canister. The collection canister may comprise a red blood cell flocculent coating.
Systems and methods for delivery of peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions with integrated inter-chamber diffuser
The invention provides, in some aspects, a container system for medical solutions such as peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions. The invention particularly features a system which includes a first compartment that contains a first medical solution, e.g., a PD osmotic agent, and a second compartment that contains a second medical solution, e.g., a PD buffer agent. The compartments maintain their respective contents separately from one another for purposes of transport, storage and/or sterilization. However, the compartments are fluidly couplable, so that their respective contents can be combined with one another, e.g., following sterilization of the agents and prior to their introduction into the patient's abdomen. To that end, a container system can include a diffuser that is disposed in a fluid pathway between the first and second compartments, e.g., to facilitate homogeneous mixing of the first and second PD agents. That diffuser is disposed within and moves relative to a structure, such as a port that defines the fluid pathway between those compartment. Thus, for example, the diffuser can comprise a body that “floats” within that pathway-defining structure and that moves from one end to the other (and/or to from points there between), depending on a direction of solution flow through the structure.
Sodium Chlorite Compositions with Enhanced Anti-Viral and Anti-Microbial Efficacy and Reduced Toxicity
Methods of treating a subject for a microbial eye condition are provided. Aspects of the methods include administering to the subject an activated sodium chlorite composition, where the compositions include sodium chlorite; and a buffer component prepared from sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate and citric acid. Also provided are methods of inhibiting a virus associated with a tissue, such as an adenovirus or coronavirus. In addition, delivery devices for administering an activated sodium chlorite composition to a tissue are provided.
Connecting and container system
A connecting system for providing a fluidic connection, preferably between containers, wherein the connecting system has at least two connecting arrangements configured to provide the fluidic connection, namely a first connecting arrangement and a second connecting arrangement, each of which is fluidically sealed in an initial state, wherein the first connecting arrangement has, in particular, an opening region that is deformable outside the opening region and is configured such that deformation causes the first connecting arrangement to open in the opening region.
Configurable fluid channel sealing devices and methods
Fluid channel sealing devices, frangible seals, fluid circuits, associated controllers and methods of using the same are provided for controlling fluid distribution using a reconfigurable blocking element having first and second portions to establish a first configuration free of any open channels such that fluid is prevented from flowing through the channel and a second configuration where the first and second portions are separated to establish an open channel and allow fluid to pass.
ASEPTIC FILLING APPARATUS AND METHOD
An apparatus and method for aseptically filling a container utilizing an adaptor formed of severable and heat-sealable material connected to a tube and container. The adaptor includes a membrane which is unsealed to allow filling by a known filling machine. Once the adaptor tube and container is formed as a unit, it is sterilized. The adaptor is then severed and sealed, creating a usable aseptic liquid product.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MIXING AND DELIVERING A SOLUTION
A device for mixing and delivering a solution includes a tubular barrel that includes a first end, a second end, and interior compartment. A first plunger is positionable at the first end, is moveable within the interior compartment, and includes a spike protruding into the interior compartment, the spike having an end configured for piercing a membrane. A second plunger is positionable within the barrel, moveable within the interior compartment, and has a pierceable membrane. The second plunger and the second end form a first area housing a first solution and the first and second plungers form a second area housing a second solution. The first and second plungers are slidably arranged within the interior area such that moving the first plunger toward the second plunger causes the spike to pierce the pierceable membrane and push the second solution through the pierced membrane to mix with the first solution.
Arrangement and method for providing a formulation for parenteral nutrition
The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for preparing a formulation for parenteral nutrition. In more detail the invention relates to a mixing system for parenteral nutrition, comprising at least two containers, wherein the at least two containers form a modular system. The mixing system comprises a septum, which is pierceable by a spike or a needle and a hanger for attaching the mixing system to an infusion rack. A first container comprises a male connector and a second container comprises a female connector, which fit together. First and second container can be coupled together, thereby forming a channel, which enables the passage of liquid and the mixing of the ingredients of the containers.
MEDICAL FLUID INJECTION AND TRANSFER DEVICES AND METHOD
A medical fluid injection device, a medical fluid transfer device and a method of administering and transferring a medical fluid are disclosed. The device and method may include a compressed gas canister in fluid communication with an expandable elastic bladder positioned within a vial of drug to provide a means to deliver drug through an injection cannula that is movable between a plurality of positions or through a transfer conduit.
