A medical transfer set includes flexible tubing and a swabbable valve operatively coupled to an end of the flexible tubing, the swabbable valve including a body having opposing distal and proximal ends and defining an interior, a flexible plug arranged within the interior and providing an inner flow path extending between opposing distal and proximal ends of the flexible plug, and a universal proximal connector provided at the proximal end of the body and including a stem and a head extending from the stem. The universal proximal connector is configured to be interconnected and used with both a luer nut syringe and a luer lock syringe.
