An apparatus includes a housing coupled to a medicament container, which is coupled to a needle. An injection assembly is disposed within the housing and includes an energy storage member and an actuation rod. A distal end portion of the actuation rod is disposed within the medicament container. The energy storage member can produce a force on a proximal end portion of the actuation rod sufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container. This can convey at least a portion of a substance from the medicament container via the needle when a distal tip of the needle is disposed within a first region of a target location. The force is insufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container when the distal tip of the needle is disposed within a second region of the target location.

Devices and methods for drug administration and mixing, and training of proper techniques therefor

A device for training users in a proper mixing of pharmaceutical components, or for aiding in the mixing, or for performing the mixing, and administration of pharmaceutical components is disclosed. The device comprises a housing for receiving a pharmaceutical delivery device containing the pharmaceutical components. There is also a microcontroller disposed in the housing and a motion/orientation detection device disposed within or on the housing and in communication with the microcontroller. A method for use of the device is also disclosed, along with a substance for use as one of the pharmaceutical components.

The adaptor further includes an opening extending through said tubular wall, and an inner thread configured to cooperate with a connection element of the connector in order to secure the connector to the adaptor. The inner thread is configured to guide the connection element into said opening. The opening is positioned relative to the inner thread so as to make the connection element be visible to an end user when the connection between the adaptor and the connector is completed.

A medicinal vial reconstitution and IV dispensing device includes a bifurcated receptacle adapted to engage a medicinal vial, and a valve or barrier for selectively opening and closing the medicinal vial from fluidic communication with the patient IV line. The reconstitution device mixes medication with saline solution from an IV bag through a dedicated channel. The reconstitution device receives a medication vial containing the powdered medication. The reconstituted medication is then passed back into the IV bag for uniform mixing. A flow control element ensures fluid flow only from the vial to the bag. Once mixed, the reconstituted medication achieves a desired concentration in the IV bag. The (now medicated) saline solution in the IV bag is dispensed back through the reconstitution device via an IV line to the patient, and the flow control element redirects fluid only to the IV line and prevents any backflow with the vial.

A lever element is mounted to the main body for pivotal movement between a grip position and a release position. The lever element has a grip portion with a vial engagement face. A grip distance is defined between the vial engagement face and the facing wall. Movement of the lever element from the release position toward the grip position reduces the grip distance. Movement of the lever element from the grip position toward the release position increases the grip distance. The lever element is biased toward the grip position. A plurality of the apparatuses are adjustably mountable in line with one another by way of their mount engagement portions.

Hollow Needle Assembly

A hollow-needle assembly is part of a transfer apparatus that serves for transferring a liquid between a storage container and a further use container. The hollow-needle assembly has a hollow needle having a pointed needle end. A liquid duct for transporting liquid through the hollow needle and out of the latter leads out via at least one liquid-duct opening in the region of the free needle end. An aeration gas duct that likewise leads out via a gas-duct opening in the region of the free needle end serves for transporting gas through the hollow-needle assembly. Duct paths of the at least one liquid duct and of the at least one aeration gas duct extend separately from one another. The ducts lead out adjacently to one another axially along the hollow needle and in a manner offset from one another in the circumferential direction. A needle separating edge that extends in the longitudinal direction of the hollow needle extends between in each case one liquid-duct opening and an adjacent gas-duct opening in the circumferential direction. This results in reliable ventilation and venting of the storage container via the hollow needle when liquid is transferred.
