An exemplary vial adapter may include a moveable member, an elongated member with a first passage, a second passage coupled to an expandable first reservoir, and a third passage coupled to an expandable second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage into the first reservoir or the second reservoir. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be drawn through the first passage and a fluid drawn through an air passage into the second passage. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage and through the third passage into the second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a moveable member may be activated to direct a fluid from the second reservoir through the third passage.

Fluid transfer devices and methods of use

Some embodiments disclosed herein related to a device for transferring precise amounts of fluid from at least one source container to at least one target container. In some embodiments, the fluid is first transferred from the source container (e.g., a vial) through a connector to an intermediate measuring container (e.g., a syringe). In some embodiments air can pass through an air inlet and enter the vial to compensate for the volume of fluid withdrawn from the vial. An air check valve or a bag or a filter can prevent the fluid from escaping through the air inlet. The precisely measured amount of fluid can then be transferred from the intermediate measuring container to the target container (e.g., an IV bag). In some embodiments the connector can include a source check valve and a target check valve to direct fluid first from the source container to the intermediate measuring container and then from the intermediate measuring container to the target container. Some embodiments of the device can include a motor and a controller for automatically actuating a plunger of the syringe to transfer the desired amount of fluid.

A method for treating a medical condition of a patient with Alpha-2 Macroglobulin (?2M) molecules in an allogeneic or xenogeneic manner, the method includes: drawing whole blood from a donor, separating plasma containing ?2M molecules from other components of the whole blood; isolating the ?2M molecules from the other components of the plasma; and administering at least some of the isolated ?2M molecules to the patient via injection or inhalation, wherein the donor and the patient are different individuals.

CLOSED SYSTEM TRANSFER DEVICE

A closed system transfer device includes a first adaptor and a second adaptor that attach with one another in a coupled state to form a sealed fluid passage between two reservoirs. The first adaptor can be attached to a first reservoir, and the second adaptor can be attached to a second reservoir. One or both adaptors can include a septum that engages another septum during coupling and decoupling to prevent liquid or vapor from being released to the environment. The device can also include a vent line that equalizes pressure between the two reservoirs. The vent line can include at least one filter to filter gas in device. In addition, or in the alternative, the vent line can be connected in fluid communication with an inflatable membrane that stores gas inside the device and assists in equalizing pressure.

In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor comprises a housing configured to couple the adaptor with a vial, an access channel, a regulator channel, and a regulator assembly. The access channel is configured to facilitate withdrawal of fluid from the vial when the adaptor is coupled to the vial. The regulator channel is configured to facilitate a flow of a regulating fluid from the regulator assembly to compensate for changes in volume of a medical fluid in the vial. The regulator assembly can include a valve configured to transition between a closed configuration and an opened configuration.
