Described herein are complexes comprising a cationic antibacterial agent and a metal salt, personal care compositions comprising same; along with methods of making and using these complexes and compositions.

A deodorant stick comprising: at least about 25% of a liquid triglyceride; at least one antimicrobial; a primary structurant with a melting point of at least about 50° C.; and less than 8% of secondary structurants having a melting point of at least about 60° C.; said stick being free of an aluminum salt; and said stick having a hardness from about 80 mm*10 to about 140 mm*10, as measured by penetration with ASTM D-1321 needle.

A hair care composition is disclosed comprising a polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactant of general formula (I): wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl groups or hydroxy-substituted C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl groups; R.sup.2CO is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C.sub.3-C.sub.10 acyl group, preferably C.sub.8-C.sub.10 acyl group, an ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant having a formula R.sup.3O(CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O)nSO.sub.3M, wherein R.sup.3 is an alkyl or alkenyl having from 8 to 18 carbon atoms; M is a solubilising cation comprising sodium, potassium, ammonium, substituted ammonium or mixtures thereof; n is the degree of ethoxylation of from 0.5 to 3, and from 0.01 to 10% by weight of an anti-dandruff agent selected from piroctone olamine, azole based anti-fungal agents and mixtures thereof, wherein the weight ratio of the ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant to the polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactant ranges from 1:10 to 10:1.

A hair care composition is disclosed comprising a salt of acyl glycinate, an ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant having a formula R.sup.2O(CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O).sub.nSO.sub.3M, wherein R.sup.2 is an alkyl or alkenyl group having from 8 to 18 carbon atoms; M is a solubilising cation comprising sodium, potassium, ammonium, substituted ammonium or mixtures thereof; n is the degree of ethoxylation of from 0.5 to 3; and an anti-dandruff agent selected from piroctone olamine, azole based anti-fungal agents and mixtures thereof; wherein the composition comprises the salt of acyl glycinate and the ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant in a weight ratio of from 1:10 to 1:1.

This invention relates to a cosmetic composition, especially one which provides synergistic anti-dandruff efficacy. This is achieved through a judicious combination of anti-dandruff agent piroctone olamine and a willow bark extract. Disclosed is a cosmetic composition comprising: (i) piroctone olamine: (ii) a willow bark extract; and (iii) a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the ratio of the amount of said willow bark extract to that of said piroctone olamine is at least 1:2 parts by weight; wherein said willow bark extract is extracted from salix alba, salix glandulosa, salix purpurea or salix caroliniana.

A translucent hair care composition comprising a substituted 2-pyridinol-N-oxide material, a cationic surfactant, a fatty alcohol, a water-soluble polymer, water, and a monocarboxylic acid.

Heterocyclic compounds are provided. In particular, the heteroatom of the heterocyclic compound may be nitrogen. The heterocyclic compounds may demonstrate capacity of stabilizing photoactive compounds. Topical compositions comprising these heterocyclic compounds are also provided. In particular, these topical compositions further comprise photoactive compounds. Methods for stabilizing photoactive compounds are also provided. These methods comprise mixing the photoactive compounds with photostabilizing heterocyclic compounds.

The present invention is directed to a hair care composition having an effective amount of a 2-pyridinol-N-oxide material and an effective amount of an iron chelator; wherein the combination of the iron chelator and the 2-pyridinol-N-oxide material provides high anti-fungal efficacy.

This application provides, among other things, oral care compositions where the addition of a stabilizing amount of a nonionic gelling and thickening agent, (e.g., hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC)), to formulations comprising a bisbiguanide (e.g., chlorhexidine (CHX)) agent allows for proper structure and consistency to the formulation and to allow it to be used as a gel or a toothpaste to facility delivery of chlorhexidine, among other actives, to the teeth or gums.

A stable shampoo composition containing a surfactant system that is substantially free of sulphated surfactants, a cationic polymer, and a sclerotium gum thickener. The shampoo can have a viscosity greater than 2500 cP and a pH greater than 5.5.
