BOTANICAL FORMULATIONS
Disclosed is a method for treating skin. The method can include topically applying to skin in need thereof a composition comprising effective amounts of Arctium lappa root extract and Epilobium angustifolium extract to reduce expression of a pro-inflammatory cytokine of IL-8, IL-2, or TNF-? in the skin.
ALKENONE-BASED FORMULATIONS FOR TOPICAL APPLICATIONS
The use of long-chain alkenones to impart desired characteristics in personal care compositions for topical applications is described. The preparation of mixtures long-chain alkenones and synthetic derivatives thereof is presented. Examples of compositions include abrasive soaps, with alkenones serving as natural exfoliating agents. Alkenones and their derivatives can serve as emollients, occlusive agents, stabailizing agents, binding agents, thickening agents, surfactants, and antimicrobials.

Stable dental varnish compositions and methods of manufacture and use
Fluoride varnish compositions for temporary application and adhesion to a person's teeth include a carrier that remains stable and translucent during storage. The compositions include a carrier comprising a stable and translucent resin and a fluoride ion source (e.g., a fluoride salt such as sodium fluoride) dispersed within the carrier so as to provide biologically available fluoride ions to teeth being treated. The carrier resists formation of solids that can plug a 25 gauge (or 10 gauge) syringe brush applicator tip. The compositions may also include an adhesion promoting agent comprising an alkyl phosphoric acid. The composition adheres only temporarily to tooth tissue (e.g., for a period of at least about 4 minutes, but not more than about 1 year), after which the composition spontaneously wears away as a natural result of the action of the tongue, saliva and/or other factors.
Antimicrobial composition
The present invention provides an antimicrobial composition comprising a) Thymol; b) Terpineol; c) Niacinamide or its derivatives thereof; and d) a cosmetically acceptable base.
FOAM CONTAINING UNIQUE OIL GLOBULES
The present invention provides a foamable composition for administration to the skin, body surface, body cavity or mucosal surface, e.g., the mucosa of the nose, mouth, eye, ear, respiratory system, vagina or rectum. The foamable oil in water emulsion composition includes: an oil globule system, selected from the group consisting of oil bodies; and sub-micron oil globules, about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of an agent, selected from the group consisting of a surface-active agent, having an HLB value between 9 and 16; and a polymeric agent, and a liquefied or compressed gas propellant at a concentration of about 3% to about 25% by weight of the total composition, water and optional ingredients are added to complete the total mass to 100%. Upon release from an aerosol container, the foamable composition forms and expanded foam suitable for topical administration.
TOPICAL SKIN CARE FORMULATIONS COMPRISING PLANT EXTRACTS
A method for treating skin of a person is disclosed. The method can include topically applying to the skin of the person a composition comprising an effective amount of an aqueous, alcoholic, or aqueous-alcoholic extract from Serissa serissoides, wherein the composition reduces tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-?) activity in the skin, reduces oxidation in the skin, or reduces tyrosinase activity in the skin.
TOPICAL SKIN CARE FORMULATIONS COMPRISING PLANT EXTRACTS
A method comprising topically applying to facial skin a composition comprising an aqueous, alcoholic, or aqueous-alcoholic extract from Nymphoides peltatum.
NOOTROPIC AND SKIN SUPPLEMENT COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD TO PROVIDE A TAILORED SUPPLEMENT
The present disclosure provides at least one skin supplement composition that has been shown to be advantageous for healthy skin, preferably comprised of hydrolyzed collagen, glucosamine sulfate, biotin, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin E, alpha lipoic acid, coenzyme Q.sub.10, pine bark extract, L-selenomethionone and niacinamide. An advantageous nootropic composition is also disclosed preferably comprised of ascorbic acid, taurine, elemental magnesium, glycinate, L-theanine, L-tyrosine, pine bark extract, N-acetyl-L-carnitine, DL-choline bitartrate, maca root, glucosinolates, P5P (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) and alpha ketoglutaric acid. A method to provide a specifically tailored supplement is also disclosed, preferably of collecting dry blood spots, analyzing the dry blood spots with tandem mass spectrometry, determining an amino acid kinetic pattern based on the analysis, and generating the specifically tailor supplement based on the pattern.
