Pharmaceutical composition for oral administration containing sulfasalazine and/or a sulfasalazine organic salt, production process and use
Disclosed is to a new pharmaceutical composition for oral administration containing sulfasalazine and/or a sulfasalazine organic salt, production processes and uses, in particular in the treatment of a disease or condition in which modulation of inflammatory cells is beneficial, a disease or condition concerning bones or joints and/or the gastro-intestinal tract.
Implantable device for sustained release of a macromolecular drug compound
An implantable device for delivery of a macromolecular drug compound is provided. The device comprises a core having an outer surface and a membrane layer positioned adjacent to the outer surface of the core. The core comprises a core polymer matrix within which is dispersed a drug compound having a molecular weight of about 0.5 kDa or more, the polymer matrix containing a hydrophobic polymer. Further, the membrane layer comprises a membrane polymer matrix within which the macromolecular drug compound is optionally dispersed. The concentration of the macromolecular drug compound in the core is greater than the concentration of the macromolecular drug compound in the membrane layer.

The membrane polymer matrix contains a hydrophobic polymer in combination with a hydrophilic compound, and the weight ratio of the hydrophobic polymer to the hydrophilic compound within the membrane polymer matrix ranges from about 0.25 to about 200.
Multi-particulate pharmaceutical composition of quetiapine
The present invention discloses an extended release multi-particulate sprinkle composition comprising a plurality of discrete units, each discrete unit comprising quetiapine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.
Fortified micronutrient salt formulations
Salt formulations, which are resistant to moisture and cooking conditions, are described herein. The formulations provide particles of micronutrients and vitamins encapsulated within heat resistant pH-sensitive water-insoluble polymers, which are packaged within a salt shell. The pH-sensitive, water-insoluble, thermally stable materials stabilize the micronutrients, particularly at high temperatures, such as during food preparation and cooking, and release the micronutrients at the desired locations such as the stomach, small intestine, etc. Preferred pH-sensitive polymers release at a low pH, less than the pH present in the stomach. The particles can be used to deliver daily-recommended doses of micronutrients simultaneously with salt, eliminating the need for vitamin pills. This is particularly important in populations suffering from severe malnutrition.
MICROENCAPSULATION OF BACTERIOPHAGES AND RELATED PRODUCTS
An encapsulated bacteriophage formulation and a method for encapsulating bacteriophages and bacteriophage-related products in polymeric microcapsules is provided. Some embodiments of the method of producing the encapsulated bacteriophages involves a water-in-oil-in-water double emulsion.
Multilayer beads for pharmaceutical use
Multilayer beads for pharmaceutical use having a drug-in-polymer layer are disclosed. The disclosed multilayer beads for pharmaceutical use have (a) a core particle; (b) an optional barrier layer coated on the surface of the core particle; (c) a drug-in-polymer layer coated on the surface of the core or the barrier layer, (d) an optional sealant layer coated on the surface of the drug-in-polymer layer; and (e) optionally one or more outer layers external to the drug-in-polymer layer or the sealant layer. The drug-in-polymer layer consists essentially of (i) a drug selected from the group consisting of a 15-keto prostaglandin drug, a 13,14-dihydro prostaglandin drug, and a 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin drug; and (ii) a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinylpyrrolidone, vinylpyrrolidone-vinylacetate copolymer or a mixture thereof. The drug-in-polymer layer may be solid dispersion of the drug in the polymer. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a plurality of multilayer beads and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and methods of treating a gastrointestinal disorder are also disclosed.
TIMED-ELUTION MASKING PARTICLES AND ORAL PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME
Masking particles which comprise a drug-containing particle containing a drug, an acid, and a carbonate, the drug-containing particle being coated with a coating layer containing a water-insoluble polymer sufficiently suppress drug release in the oral cavity and pharynx, rapidly release a drug after swallowing, and easily control the release suppression time of a drug. The acid may be at least one organic acid. The carbonate may be at least one water-soluble carbonate. Oral pharmaceutical compositions include tablets, granules, fine granules, powders.
COMPOSITIONS FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF RSV AND CORONAVIRUS INFECTION
Compositions and methods are provided for the prevention or treatment of RSV infection and SARS-CoV2 virus related infections, such as COVID-19 (2019-nCoV), in a human. The methods include administering one or more doses of a composition comprising an encapsulated nano-metal oxide (NMO) or nano-metal oxide chelate (NMO-Ch). The dose can be formulated for topical or parenteral administration. Topical administration includes administration as a nasal spray, or by inhalation of respirable particles or droplets. Particles or droplets contain material systems that include composite particles having a core and one or more shells that enclose the core. In this case, the shell is a nonlamellar amorphous material, and the internal matrix core contains a metal oxide or metal oxide chelate.
