PROTEIN PRODUCING NANOLIPOSOMES AND USES THEREOF
Synthetic liposomal nanoparticles comprising a cell-free transcription and translation machinery, a plasmid encoding a cytokine, and a regulatable caged ATP molecule, as well as microparticles encasing the synthetic liposomal nanoparticles and methods of making and using the synthetic liposomal nanoparticles, are described herein. These liposomal nanoparticles may be used for the controlled release o a cytokine within a localized environment of, for example a tumor, as part of a therapeutic treatment of cancer, or for localized treatment at a focus of interest of an autoimmune disease, an allergic reaction or hypersensitivity reaction, a localized site of an infection or infectious disease, a localized site of an injury or other damage, a transplant or other surgical site, or a blood clot. Further, microparticles produced by encapsulating hundreds of liposomal nanoparticles, and their therapeutic uses, are also described.
Microencapsulated omega-3 oil powder for animal feed
Disclosed are a microcapsule fat powder of Ω3-enriched meat, egg and milk and its preparation method, and the powder includes a water-soluble wall material and an Ω3 oil core material embedded in the wall material. The water-soluble wall material is prepared by mixing dextrin, water-soluble syrup, whey powder or chitosan with starch paste, and the Ω3 oil core material is prepared by mixing linseed oil, deep sea fish oil or algae oil with a composite emulsifier which is stearic acyl lactylate. The microcapsule fat powder can be combined with intestinal and pancreatic lipases very easily to improve the digestion, absorption and utilization of Ω3 oils.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATION OF MICROPARTICLES CONTAINING IMMOBILIZED ENZYME
The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for generation of micropartides containing an immobilized functional component, where the following measures are proposed: —spraying a liquid (32) containing a soluble alginate and a functional component consisting of molecules or nanoparticles to generate a stream (60) of droplets, —directing the stream (60) of droplets onto a precipitation bath (16) and capturing the droplets therein by application of high voltage (14), —precipitating the droplets in the precipitation bath (16) by means of a precipitation liquid (18) containing an alginate complexing agent, such that the droplets are solidified to form micropartides (10) containing the functional component and —extracting the micropartides (10) from the precipitation bath (16).
MODIFIED ALGINATES FOR ANTI-FIBROTIC MATERIALS AND APPLICATIONS
Covalently modified alginate polymers, possessing enhanced biocompatibility and tailored physiochemical properties, as well as methods of making and use thereof, are disclosed herein. The covalently modified alginates are useful as a matrix for coating of any material where reduced fibrosis is desired, such as encapsulated cells for transplantation and medical devices implanted or used in the body.
Reducing the environmental impact of farming using biochar
A method for using treated biochar to reduce the overall environmental impact of farming and minimize the carbon footprint of farms is provided. The method comprising engaging in one or more of the following practices: (1) combining treated biochar with feed or using biochar as feed for animals to reduce methane from enteric fermentation and increase animal health and nutrition; (2) combining treated biochar with compost, animal bedding or manure piles to reduce odor and increase nutrient retention; (3) applying treated biochar to lagoons to reduce odor and treat water; (4) applying treated biochar to pastures to increase pasture health; (5) applying treated biochar to crops to increase crop productivity, healthier roots and prevent fertilizer leaching; and (6) using the carbon negativity of a produced biochar to reduce the overall farm or ranch carbon footprint.
