System of detecting a leak in a heat exchanger of a hemodialysis device
A leak may be detected in a heat exchanger of a hemodialysis device. A drain valve is opened by the controller, and then closed by the controller after a pre-selected time period. An initial pressure is determined in the spent dialysate circuit and stored in the memory. A system pressure is determined at periodic time intervals and compared to a pre-determined maximum pressure. The controller then determines whether the heat exchanger has a leak, in that in response to the system pressure exceeding a predetermined maximum pressure, a command is generated to execute an event including suspending a disinfectant operation with a disinfecting agent, and in response to the initial pressure subtracted from the system pressure being greater than a predetermined minimum pressure differential, a command is generated to execute an event including suspending the cleanse operation with the disinfecting agent.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPENING A CONCENTRATE CONTAINER AND CONNECTING THE CONCENTRATE CONTAINER TO A BLOOD TREATMENT DEVICE
The present invention refers to a system and method for opening a concentrate container without the need for a human to directly handle the concentrate container and connecting the concentrate container to a blood treatment device. Aspects of the invention are directed to a container for concentrate and a blood treatment device.
Filtration system for preparation of fluids for medical applications
A system for filling multiple sterile containers includes a filter with an inlet port and multiple outlet ports, the outlet ports being pre-attached to sterile containers by respective filling lines of each container. Each container has an interior and each of the respective filling lines are connected to a respective container interior. The respective filling lines are sealed to the outlet ports and the containers such that the container interiors are isolated from an external environment except the inlet port, via the filter, forming a combined interior volume which is sterile. A container that is connectable to an outlet port the system has a bladder, a first tube and a second tube connected to the bladder, and a sterilizing filter. The container, the first tube and the second tube, and the sterilizing filter are sterile before water is flowed through the sterilizing filter into the bladder.
CONCENTRATE CONTAINER ADAPTER AND CONNECTOR HOUSING FOR CONNECTION TO A BLOOD TREATMENT APPARATUS
The invention relates to a concentrate container adapter for use in a blood treatment device, in particular a dialysis machine. The concentrate container adapter has a fastening body (1) on which a concentrate bag is able to be fastened, wherein the fastening body (1) has a filling opening (11) and two connection openings (12a, 12b) lying laterally on opposite sides of the filling opening (11), a housing receiving region (13) on the fastening body (1), which is arranged in such a way that by means of the housing receiving region (13) the concentrate container adapter is able to be mounted on a connector housing (10), wherein the housing receiving region (13) is arranged externally on the material which is forming the openings.
Spent dialysate container for disposing spent dialysate in a dialysis system
Dialysis systems for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) for conducting dialysis treatments are disclosed. The dialysis system may include a spent dialysate container for receiving spent dialysate from a patient. In use, the spent dialysate containers are arranged and configured to provide one or more mechanical advantages to ease disposal of the spent dialysate. For example, the spent dialysate container may receive the spent dialysate from the patient and enable the patient or caregiver to dispose of the spent dialysate without requiring the patient or caregiver to lift bags of spent dialysate or incorporate lengthy drain lines. The spent dialysate container may include a reservoir to receive the spent dialysate, wheels to enable the patient or caregiver to transport the reservoir, mechanisms to facilitate disposal of the spent dialysate from the reservoir, a nozzle to dispose of the spent dialysate, and/or a disinfectant to disinfect the drain.
Dialysis system having inductive heating
A dialysis fluid system includes a dialysis fluid inlet; a dialysis fluid outlet; a pump positioned and arranged to pump dialysis fluid through the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet; and an inductive heater located between the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet, the inductive heater including a fluid flowpath positioned and arranged to receive non-heated dialysis fluid from the dialysis fluid inlet and to output heated dialysis fluid to the a dialysis fluid outlet, a conductive heater element located within the fluid flowpath so as to be or act as a secondary coil of a transformer, and a primary coil of the transformer located outside of the fluid flowpath and positioned so as to magnetically induce a current into the conductive heater element, causing the conductive heater element and surrounding fluid to heat.
Pouch comprising a shape memory material to contain a biopharmaceutical fluid
A pouch for transporting and/or processing a biopharmaceutical fluid, the pouch comprising a flexible wall, the flexible wall comprising a shape memory material being adapted to change shape when induced by an external stimulus, so that the pouch can be alternately in a collapsed state and in an unfolded state, the wall of the pouch in the unfolded state delimiting a closed internal cavity adapted to contain the biopharmaceutical fluid.
SOLUTION VERIFICATION PRIOR TO THERAPY IN RENAL INSUFFICIENCY TREATMENT
Systems and methods for renal insufficiency treatment that include identifying and associating a solution container with a container support in the systems and methods are described herein. The systems and methods may associate an identified solution with an identified container support and verify compatibility of that combination with a selected treatment to reduce the likelihood for errors during setup and use of the systems and methods.
Determining a Volume of a Container for Dialysis Treatment
A method includes receiving, by a processor of a dialysis machine, a dialysate flow rate, a bicarbonate setting value, a signal from a pressure sensor configured to measure a pressure within a container, and a signal indicating a state of a fill valve; determining, based on the signal received from the pressure sensor and the state of the fill valve, fill parameters; determining a volume of the container based on at least two of the fill parameters; determining a depletion time in which the concentrate will be depleted from the container based on the volume of the container, the dialysate flow rate, and the bicarbonate setting value; determining, based on the depletion time, an amount of time remaining before the concentrate will be depleted from the container; and causing the dialysis machine to indicate the amount of time remaining before the concentrate will be depleted from the container.
Wall box for hemodialysis interface
The present invention is directed to wall box for hemodialysis interface having two isolated zones. The first zone is a clean interface zone having sources of purified water and dialysis fluids. The second zone is a waste interface zone comprising waste connectors and a waste drain.
