The modular cassette includes: a housing defining a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a chamber for fluid separation; a fluidic channel configured to provide fluid communication between at least two components of the modular cassette; a heat expanding valve including: a flow pathway including undulations configured to facilitate closing of the fluidic channel, wherein the heat expanding valve occludes one or more of the undulations of the flow pathway to close the fluidic channel; and a heating element configured to actuate the heat expanding valve.
Method And Systems For High-Throughput Blood Component Collection
Described are embodiments that include methods and devices for separating components from multi-component fluids. Embodiments may involve use of separation vessels and movement of components into and out of separation vessels through ports. Embodiments may involve the separation of plasma from whole blood. Also described are embodiments that include methods and devices for positioning portions, e.g., loops, of disposables in medical devices. Embodiments may involve use of surfaces for automatically guiding loops to position them into a predetermined position.
Devices and Methods for Blood Flow Regulation
A vascular constricting device for constricting vascular lumens to regulate blood flow in a vascular system includes a cuff having an inflatable body and a frame adapted for wrapping round a vascular lumen, such as a native blood vessel or non-native graft, and a pump having an internal reservoir for doling a fluid and a fluid circuit for controlling the flow of fluid between the reservoir and the inflatable body for selectively inflating and deflating the inflatable body. In a hemodialysis treatment, the vascular constricting device is actuated to inflate the inflatable body to restrict blood flow and lower blood flow rate during off-treatment periods, and is actuated to deflate the inflatable body to permit an unrestricted blood flow and a higher blood flow rate during on-treatment periods.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMIZATION OF PLASMA COLLECTION VOLUMES
A system for collecting plasma comprises a separator to separate whole blood from a donor into a plasma product and red blood cells, an anticoagulant line to introduce anticoagulant to the whole blood, a touchscreen, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive donor parameters electronically from a donor management system. The controller is configured to use a target volume for plasma product and/or raw plasma which is based at least in part on donor height and weight used to calculate total donor blood volume, the target volume for plasma product and/or raw plasma based on the total donor blood volume. The controller is configured to control the system to operate at least three draw and return phases to withdraw whole blood from a donor and separate the whole blood into the plasma product and the red blood cells and to return the red blood cells to the donor.
HEATER AND COOLER SYSTEM WITH DISPOSABLE HEAT TRANSFER FLUID MODULE
A system for heating/cooling a target unit. The system including a heater/cooler unit and a heat transfer fluid module. The heater/cooler unit including a heater/cooler that includes a heater/cooler element and a heater/cooler pump, and a heat exchanger that includes a heat exchange element. Where, the heater/cooler pump pumps a first fluid through the heater/cooler element and the heat exchange element and back to the heater/cooler pump. The heat transfer fluid module including a fluid reservoir with a second fluid that is pumped to and through the heat exchanger to transfer heating/cooling between the first fluid and the second fluid and pumped to and through the target unit to transfer heating/cooling between the second fluid and the target unit.
HEMODIALYSIS SYSTEM INCLUDING A DISPOABLE SET AND A DIALYSIS INSTRUMENT
A hemodialysis system is disclosed. The hemodialysis system includes a dialyzer, a saline container including saline, and a disposable set comprising a blood pumping tube fluidly connected to a first end of the dialyzer, an arterial line fluidly connected to a first end of the blood pumping tube, a venous line fluidly connected to a second end of the dialyzer, a saline line fluidly connected to the blood pumping tube and the saline container, and a dialyzer line fluidly connected to a second end of the blood pumping tube and a second end of the dialyzer. The hemodialysis system also includes a dialysis instrument comprising an arterial line clamp, a venous line clamp, and a saline valve. The saline rinses blood out of the arterial line when the venous line clamp is closed, the arterial line clamp is opened, and the saline value is opened.
Fluid processing and circuit array, system and apparatus
A fluid flow circuit assembly for a fluid processing device, comprising a housing having a plurality of openings, a separator disposed at least partially within the housing, and a plurality of flow paths communicating between an interior and an exterior of the housing via the plurality of openings, wherein the separator is disposed substantially at the center of the plurality of flow paths.
EMPTYING A BLOOD CIRCUIT AFTER EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD TREATMENT
A blood treatment apparatus (1) defines first and second flow circuits (C1, C2) separated by a dialyzer (20). The second flow circuit (C2) comprises return and withdrawal lines (24′, 24″) for connection to a vascular system of a subject during a treatment session.
