An embodiment includes a suction device handle for use with a vacuum supply conduit to suction a fluid or tissue, the handle comprising: a hand-grippable body defining a chamber; the hand-grippable body comprising a distal end configured to support a suction tip; the suction tip including a distal end of a vacuum supply conduit extending within an outer cannula, the vacuum supply conduit being offset from a distal end of the outer cannula by a predetermined distance; wherein the distal end of the hand grippable body is connected to a proximal end of the outer cannula and the chamber is connected in fluid communication with the suction pressure or vacuum generated at the distal end of the vacuum supply conduit. Additional embodiments are described herein.

UNIVERSAL SUCTION AIRFLOW CONTROL DEVICE
20200009302 · 2020-01-09 ·

A universal suction control device is disclosed that can be arranged in relation to surgical tubing to control the amount of air passing through the tubing. The suction control devices are arranged for easy, point-of-care control of suction while minimizing excessive noise pollution from suction during surgery. One suction control device comprises a mounting mechanism for mounting on surgical suction tubing. A first blocking portion is included for engaging the suctional tubing to block the passage of suction air through the tubing. A control surface is also included that is movable to control the engagement of said blocking portion with said surgical suction tubing to control the amount of air passing through said surgical suction tubing.

Thrombus aspiration system and methods for controlling blood loss

Aspiration systems and methods for controlling blood loss during thrombus removal are disclosed herein. The systems include an aspiration catheter, an aspiration tubing, a receptacle for collecting aspirated blood, a vacuum line coupled to the receptacle, and a sensor configured to measure a flow parameter associated with a liquid within an aspiration lumen. The systems further include a regulator configured to adjust a vacuum pressure within the vacuum line, and a vacuum controller operably coupled to the sensor and the regulator. The vacuum controller is configured to receive the flow parameter from the sensor, compare the flow parameter to a target range for the flow parameter, and send an automatic control signal to the regulator based on a comparison of the flow parameter to the target range. The automatic control signal causes the regulator to adjust the vacuum pressure within the vacuum line.

SUCTION AND IRRIGATION APPARATUS

The invention is directed to an apparatus for providing suction and irrigation to a body site. The apparatus includes a shaft having a distal end for juxtaposition with the body site, and an actuating mechanism operatively configured to facilitate selective actuation of the apparatus to provide either suction or irrigation via the shaft. The shaft has a flow area restriction portion located proximate its distal end.

Medical Instrument

A medical instrument including a first fluid line having an end with an edge, a second fluid line, and a cavity in which the end of the first fluid line is arranged, and which is connected to the second fluid line. A wall region of the cavity is designed to be flexibly movable. In a first configuration, the flexibly movable wall region bears on the edge of the end of the first fluid line and thus closes the end of the first fluid line. In a second configuration, the flexibly movable wall region does not bear, or bears only partially, on the edge of the end of the first fluid line, such that the first fluid line and the second fluid line are fluidically connected.

SUCTION AND IRRIGATION APPARATUS WITH ANTI-CLOGGING CAPABILITY

A handheld tool for providing irrigation and/or suction is provided. In certain embodiments, the tool has a single cannula for providing both suction and irrigation, while in others there are separate suction and irrigation cannulas. In some embodiments, flush water is supplied by actuating a flush button which both pinches closed a suction hose and opens a flush hose. If present, the irrigation cannula may be opened by actuating an irrigation button. In certain embodiments, the irrigation and/or flush button may be provided with blade tips to pinch closed the irrigation or flush hoses in cooperation with a blade extending from the tool housing.
