Double action infusion system

An infusion system includes a double action infusion pump. The pump includes a cylinder and a reciprocating piston received within the cylinder, the reciprocating piston separating a first pump chamber from a second pump chamber of the cylinder. A reciprocating motor is coupled with the reciprocating piston, and the first and second pump chambers alternate between filling and evacuating conditions with reciprocation of the reciprocating piston through operation of the reciprocating motor, and the speed of reciprocation is varied to provide a continuous output of fluid between the first and second pump chambers. A fluid source and a catheter are optionally coupled with the double action infusion pump. The catheter includes one or more infusion ports near a catheter distal portion, and the one or more infusion ports receive and expel the continuous output of fluid from the double action infusion pump.

A method of priming a medical pump is disclosed. The method includes providing a medical pump comprising a chamber, a first plunger element and, a second plunger element. The method further comprises determining a minimum distance (MD) between the first and the second plunger element and determining the location of an opening of the chamber.

Disposable dual-action reciprocating pump assembly

A pump device includes a rotary motor, a compartment for insertion of a disposable pump part, and one or more pulsation-reduction elements. The disposable pump part includes an input port, an output port, and a dual-action reciprocating assembly. The input port is configured for intaking fluid. The output port is configured for outputting the fluid. The dual-action reciprocating assembly is configured for pumping the fluid. The assembly includes a single piston and a rod configured to be coupled to the rotary motor, so as to drive the piston. The one or more pulsation-reduction elements are configured to reduce a pulsation in the outputted fluid, caused by the single-piston dual-action reciprocating assembly.

Fluid injector system, method of preventing fluid backflow, and computer program product

A fluid injector system and method for preventing pressurized backflow of a second fluid into a first reservoir containing a fluid is described. The fluid injector system includes a control device programmed or configured to actuate a second drive component to pressurize and inject the second fluid through the fluid conduit, and while the second drive component is actuated, actuate a first drive component to introduce intermittent pulses of the first fluid to create a flow front interface between the first fluid and the second fluid in the fluid conduit to prevent backflow of the second fluid through the fluid conduit into the first fluid reservoir.

SELECTOR VALVE FOR MEDICAL FLUID DELIVERY DEVICE

A selector valve for a medical fluid delivery device is disclosed. The valve includes a valve bore in fluid communication with an outlet channel, first and second outlet ports, and a selector valve body which includes a valve stem located within the valve bore and having a flow passage. The selector valve body is adapted to place the flow passage in fluid communication with one of the first outlet port, the second outlet port, and a shut-off position.

According to preferred embodiments and methods of the present disclosure, a medical injection system employs a single pump for the injection of multiple fluids, rather than employing a pump for each type of fluid, for example, like the prior art system described above. Embodiments of pumps disclosed herein preferably include a disposable pump cartridge configured to be contained within a hull of a medical injection system, wherein the hull may be formed when a pressure plate member is closed against a base plate; and, when the pressure plate member is opened with respect to the base plate, the disposable pump cartridge may be removed and replaced.

Continuous multi-fluid pump device, drive and actuating system and method

A selector valve for a medical fluid delivery device is disclosed. The valve includes a valve bore in fluid communication with an outlet channel, first and second outlet ports, and a selector valve body which includes a valve stem located within the valve bore and having a flow passage. The selector valve body is adapted to place the flow passage in fluid communication with one of the first outlet port, the second outlet port, and a shut-off position. Further, the selector valve body includes a sealing arrangement having an elastomeric core disposed within a thin-walled valve stem which comprises a thin cylindrical sidewall in direct contact with the valve bore. When the elastomeric core and the valve stem are subjected to internal fluid pressure, the thin cylindrical sidewall of the valve stem expands outward to increase a sealing force between an outer diameter of the valve stem and the valve bore.

PUMP CARTRIDGE AND CONSOLE

A pump cartridge comprises a retention structure to retain a piston for shipping and storage, in which the piston can be decoupled from the retention structure to pump fluid. In the shipping and storage configuration, the piston can be positioned with the retention structure to allow sterilization gas to travel within a housing and into a cylinder distal to the piston. When placed in the console for use in a pumping configuration, the piston can be decoupled from the retention structure to form a seal within the housing. When the procedure has been completed, the pump cartridge can be decoupled from the console in a manner that disables the cartridge for subsequent use to prevent a non-sterile cartridge from being reused.

Assembly method for a fluid pump device for a continuous multi-fluid delivery system

A system and method of assembling a disposable fluid pump device is provided. The fluid pump device includes a pump body having a plurality of pump cylinders and at least one inlet selector valve for controlling fluid input to the pump cylinders. The method includes the steps of identifying at least one initial inlet selector valve position; generating, with at least one processor, encoded data representing at least the at least one inlet selector valve position; and setting the at least one selector valve to the at least one initial inlet selector valve position.

MAGNETICALLY DRIVEN MICROPUMP

A magnetically driven micropump for handling small fluid volumes. The micropump includes a first chamber and a second chamber. A flexible membrane being disposed between the first and second chambers. The flexible membrane being magnetically coupled to an actuator for displacing the membrane.
