NEEDLE INSERTION MECHANISM FOR DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE

A drug delivery device includes a housing, a container disposed in the housing, an activation mechanism, and a needle insertion mechanism (NIM). The container has an inner volume to contain a medicament which is urged out of the container by the activation mechanism. The needle insertion mechanism (NIM) is operably coupled with the activation mechanism and includes an actuation assembly adapted to insert a needle and a cannula to deliver the medicament from the container. The actuation assembly is movable between a storage state, a first operational state, a second operational state, and a third operational state to selectively position the needle and the cannula.

Drug Delivery Device with Container Access System and Related Method of Assembly

Drug delivery devices and related methods of assembly are disclosed. The drug delivery device may include a container including a wall with an interior surface and a seal member with an end surface. The interior surface of the wall and the end surface of the seal member may define a reservoir filled with a drug. A fluid pathway assembly may be connected to the container and include an overmold member that covers a length of a container access needle and which defines an enclosed space with the seal member. The overmold member may be moveable relative to the seal member to carry the container access needle between a storage position, where a point of the container access needle is disposed exterior to the reservoir, and a delivery position, where the point extends through the end surface of the seal member into the reservoir.

MEDICAL PUMP WITH FLOW CONTROL

Methods and devices for accurately pumping small quantities of liquid to a patient with a broad range of flow and low cost.

Cannula insertion detection

Sensors are disclosed that detect whether a cannula is properly inserted to its full depth in a subject's skin. The sensors may be used with a blood glucose monitor, or with a continuous insulin infusion pump, infusion set, or other system involving intermittent or continuous testing and/or drug delivery.

DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

Drug delivery system including: a reservoir having a meander shape or spiral shape, the reservoir including an inlet and a filter; a capacitance measurement device configured to determine a parameter of the reservoir; and a micropump configured to deliver a fluid from the reservoir to an outlet.

Injector delayed cartridge piercing mechanism

An injector includes an injector housing, an activation button assembly translatable from an unactuated position to an actuated position and a cartridge door movably mounted to the injector housing between an open position and a closed position. A deflectable interference member has a resting position configured to limit an insertion depth of a cartridge into an interior channel of the cartridge door to a sealed position, wherein the cartridge piercing needle does not fully penetrate a pierceable septum of the cartridge. Movement of the activation button assembly from the unactuated position to the actuated position thereof, in the closed position of the cartridge door, deflects the interference element out of the resting position thereof, thereby enabling further advancement of the cartridge into the interior channel of the cartridge door to an unsealed position, wherein the cartridge piercing needle fully penetrates the pierceable septum.

INTEGRATED CLOSED-LOOP ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS AND DATA OBTAINING METHOD FOR PROGRAM MODULE THEREOF

An integrated closed-loop artificial pancreas includes: a detection module; a program module which is imported into the total daily dose algorithm and the current insulin infusion algorithm; and an infusion module which is connected to the program module. The infusion module includes an infusion tube which is used as the insulin infusion channel, the detecting electrodes are provided on/in the wall of the infusion tube, and the infusion module can infuse insulin required according to the data of the current insulin infusion dose. It takes only one insertion to perform both glucose detection and insulin infusion.

Drug delivery device
11612687 · 2023-03-28 · ·

A drug delivery device comprising a delivery unit (2) including an internal reservoir (8), a subcutaneous delivery mechanism (6), a pump for pumping liquid from the internal reservoir to the subcutaneous delivery system, and a liquid filling mechanism (12) configured for injecting liquid from an external vial (16) or reservoir into the internal reservoir. The liquid filling mechanism comprises a filling port (14) and a valve mechanism (18) selectively operable to: open a first fluid path (54) extending from the filling port to the internal fluid reservoir and close a second fluid path (56) extending from the internal reservoir to the subcutaneous delivery member, or close the first fluid path and open the second fluid path. The valve mechanism comprises a valve housing (48) fixedly mounted in relation to a housing of the drug delivery device and a valve stem (50) rotatably received within the valve housing, whereby the first fluid path and the second fluid path are selectively operated by the rotational position of the valve stem in relation to the valve housing, such that when the valve stem is in a first position, the first fluid path is open while the second fluid path is closed, and when the valve stem is in a second position, the second fluid path is open while the first fluid path is closed.
